- Two of the most uncompromising players of the chess world were pitted against each other - Ian Nepomniachtchi and Alireza Firouzja. In the previous Candidates, Nepo had beaten Firouzja in both their encounters. Would the trend continue in Candidates 2024 as well? Check out their fight with the commentary by IM Sagar Shah.

4 hours of chess is not enough for the day. Let's just talk about chess some more.
Best comment of the day
Reminds me some colleagues after exams
Any club level player knows the feeling....doens't matter if you played a five hour game, right after the game you still want to talk about it.
Its amazing how they visualise the position immediately when suggested by each other.
I don't think it's that special, becaues the game was really long and they were really concentrated.
@@LeMaeNaDe It's not just this game, they can imagine any position just by listening to it or reading it, they can play without a board and discuss different games without any problem, the understanding of super GMs is beyond your understanding.
Love seeing the conversation after
nice extra insight from the player’s perspective. Thanks!
Ian is really pulling out all the stops. Would love to see him face the Indian players
I’m sure we will!
Next 3 rounds he's playing Indian players, Gukesh, Vidit, then Pragg
@@jimhofoss9982 not so sure
The language of gods
Nepo is a gentleman
Love the discussion after the match. More of these pls :)
Reviewing is unbelievable..speak with mouth but analyzing each position which not played before is mind blowing.. Because the possibility is infinity 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
not true there are a finite amount of possible chess games
Yes . Buy the amount of them are immensely high
If you play over the board classical, you'll start to develop this ability, even if it's on a more basic level for the most critical moments. Then, the better you get, the more you can discuss without moving any pieces around. Tip: It's easier to start by looking at the board and pointing to squares rather than doing it purely blindfolded. The beauty of slow chess is that you get plenty of time to think about and remember critical positions.
I just liked Nepo's explanations.I get lost after 2 sentences but I am confident he was right!I think Fabiano and Nepo are the favorites after Nakamura's mistakes
How they can discuss squares like this is nothing short of astonishing.
@3:49 Sagar-ception in the background😂
😂
Love the green jacket though 💚
The lady arbiter keep dropping flags😂
I like the editing
Nepo is a cool guy. And he deserves to be WCh
he really is a good man
So much better than “chess speaks for itself”
its amazing how they memorize and visualize each move with the board completed...my goodness it seems easy from outside...je
3:53 Hello Sagar!!👋😂
Oh. that was a nice talk
An interesting discussion not because any of us can follow it (none of us can) but because of the body language. Alireza is usually upset after a loss (as anybody would be!) but this time he seems sad and tired. He held out well against Fabi in round 3, hopefully he'll make a comeback and get some wins in the coming rounds.
Only you and the 1000 elo bots can’t folow the conversation. Do you think we are all crap at chess ? The lines mentioned there are not even hard to see nor to understand. You seem completely clueless about this game. Stay with the botez stuff and move on buddy.
@@susta1815 its amazing how personally you took that comment and lashed out on OP for it. good luck in life, you seem to need it a lot.
@@susta1815 Spoken like a true 9-year-old.
It's actually not so difficult to understand if you're a casual 1500 elo player, and obviously if you've followed the game.
@@Diego14SU Obviously I wouldn't make this statement if I could follow it. I'm a casual 1800 online. And followed the game. 🤷🏽♂️
Nice to see Alireza so engaged and deep in thought about what he should've done, clearly any doubt that he doesn't care or is distracted by other things than chess should be forgotten now, he wont win this candidates, but will be a serious force to reckon with in his 3rd and 4th candidates in future, and with so much time in his hands, he's bound to become a world champion one day
Why do you say he won’t win the candidates?
@@bisket81 I think he's not ready yet and he has not found the form he had 2 years ago when he reached 2800
He was asked about whether he was still following other pursuits a few months ago (I can't remember in which event this was) and he said not anymore, that he's focused 100% on chess again now. I agree with you, while it would be great to see him ace it at this Candidates tournament, I don't think he's got that form currently, but I do think he'll be phenomenal in the coming cycle.
@@aesaphyr even if he’s 100% focused it wont mean he is back to what he was at 18, Im sure he will get back to it and even better, but for now I think he still wants to do stuff outside of chess, the only downside here is Pragg, Gukesh and Nodirbek will not be taking breaks etc and they are already at his level, if he slows down too much he will be well caught up by one of them in the next candidates
@@JT11111 Sure, it's an exciting time in chess to be sure! Although I think Nodirbek should actually probably slow down - I feel like he played nearly every day in the past year and hasn't done as well as in recent years. My reply was only to say Alireza seems to have reinvested his attention in chess again - which I think many people don't know and still think he's only half-heartedly playing.
How is the audio quality so good at the end!😲
it's sagar shah. his production level is better than fide itself lol.
Yeah man the audio was crazy good..
The arbiter was pretty funny..the flags fell atleast thrice 😂
@@srinjoy2003 These videos are collected from fide. There's a big watermark below right corner
15:53 Because the microphones are very close. Listen to the sound of the clock buttons, as well as Nepo's pen on paper.
That analysis tho 🔥 🔥
In the title it says “let’s draw” 😂
99.99% of the population have no idea what they are talking about.
Chessbase India best chess channel in the world
It must suck being able to realize what move you should have played after you played a different move. I wouldn't be able to concentrate for the rest of the game
I have a shot at understanding Sanskrit more
Please play out there conversation over the board on the same screen....(:
I genuinely dont get how is this even fucking possible. Do their brains display for them invisible holographic screens that show their thoughts in front of them? How the hell can you even imagine all this stuff, talk in numbers, letters and positions and talk about it logically at the same time?
yes, these guys can play tens of blindfold matches simultaneously. this is nothing for them.
I can't follow this kind of discussion at all and think this level of discussion is truly prodigious, but I think it's also worth remembering that they've just sat there for 2-3 hours literally thinking only about this game and countless variations for each move. We know they're very quick at seeing lines and tactics so I can only imagine just how deep they're going with the analysis in their heads as they're sitting there during the game. So after the game, they get to verbalise these things they've been pondering non-stop for hours. Still, I can't wrap my head around the kind of brain power they have. It's incredible.
@@aesaphyr Exactly, they were focused for a long time and had to really analyze the game closely.... That's impressive, but probably possible for the average person. I'm sure when you had really long exams you could remember pretty much the entire paper after the exam...
Add a board with the discussion next time yoo
I am sure it is all very interesting for whoever can follow up.
He really loves to talk! He's Preaching and Analyzing alone and doesn't pay any attention to what Alireza's saying! No wonder Magnus is avoiding talking to him after games!
would be nice to have a board following their explanations
Chees with sagar sah commentry >>> IPL
Vidit,gukesh,nepo im rooting for them
I am for Nepo but i really enjoying to See this Indian Young badass chess player
I love how Alireza when he's analyzing says "Check, check, check!"... He loves the game so much he dosent mind to play crazy and lose 20:30
This whole visualizing process demonstrates how superior the human brain can be. If we would only use our brains for the good, as these players do....
palmtreegal3: Yea, I agree.
" two of the most creative and uncompromising players in the world of chess". What a commentator Sagar is

Nepo or Fabi will win this tournament. calling it now!.
Hope you did not bet too much 🤣

QUÉ MALDITA pronunciación.
Nepo's gonna bulldoze everyone again
Alireza thought for 30 minutes to blunder a whole piece then convinced by 20 second 5 moves line by Nepo that Qh5 and Qh1 then back to Qh5 was ok. what was that 30 minutes calculation for then if you cant calculate the most obvious idea? "I couldnt make it work" . then "Yeah it was ok for black". get the f out of here. I saw him when he played that dumb move Na4 instead of Qh5 just saw the clock and reluctantly played it out of spite . Thats not how you play chess. I would give him a big slap if I was his coach
I'm sure all the ideas were obvious for you, with Stockfish and eval bar. These Super GMs are dumb for not calculating everything and making mistakes like humans.
