Yeah its one of Nick Drakes loveliest songs. An amazing songwriter. Anybody who hasn't heard his stuff before, check him out. So sad he died at such a young age before he got the recognition he deserved.
Consummate artist. I've been following him for 6 years now. I requested this Nick Drake song last time I saw him at Yoshi's and thankfully, he performed it (with a trio on that occasion). Great jazz
you really feel the rolling of the river... it seems that the different minor inflections could be the boat tipping a bit, maybe the current speeding up...but he gives us assurance with the return to that major tonic chord...time rolls on with the river as the scenery passes by and changes with each bend...still rolling...
Betty came by on her way Said she had a word to say About things today And fallen leaves Said she hadn’t heard the news Hadn’t had the time to choose A way to lose But she believes Gonna see the river man Gonna tell him all I can About the plan For lilac time If he tells me all he knows About the way his river flows And all night shows In summertime Betty said she prayed today For the sky to blow away Or maybe stay She wasn’t sure For when she thought of summer rain Calling for her mind again She lost the pain And stayed for more Gonna to see the river man Gonna to tell him all I can About the ban On feeling free If he tells me all he knows About the way his river flows I don’t suppose It’s meant for me Oh, how they come and go
Is that what it is? I wish they’d fix that! I’d really prefer to hear his sound at the same time I see him playing it. I like the visuals otherwise, though, I must say.
I noticed that straight away too. It’s a shame, as half the enjoyment of Mehldau is watching an artist who seems to literally disappear into his creation. I was fortunate enough to see him about a week ago on the Mood Swing tour. Mehldau and Drake are both singular artists. Together…….sublime.
This is absolutly mind bending. Soulful music form a different realm at it's best. Thank you Nick and Brad.
A great musician, playing another great one. Don't forget Nick Drake.

A masterpiece
Non alla portata di tutti, tanta grandezza
Re-listening in the peace of the early hours and appreciating song, artist and piano~~~
Often come back to this when my head feels stagnant. This gets it ticking again. Beautiful
My god. Why does this only have 4,000 views?!? The world needs to see this!

wow!that's really good and true. You should write poetry!
May Rose I just saw this comment today... came back to watch this again. Thank you for your kind comment!
Betty came by on her way
Said she had a word to say
About things today
And fallen leaves
Said she hadn’t heard the news
Hadn’t had the time to choose
A way to lose
But she believes
Gonna see the river man
Gonna tell him all I can
About the plan
For lilac time
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
And all night shows
In summertime
Betty said she prayed today
For the sky to blow away
Or maybe stay
She wasn’t sure
For when she thought of summer rain
Calling for her mind again
She lost the pain
And stayed for more
Gonna to see the river man
Gonna to tell him all I can
About the ban
On feeling free
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
I don’t suppose
It’s meant for me
Oh, how they come and go
thanks for this
absolutely sublime...what a player.
Brad is total phenom. No one is doing what he does
So we are the river - all together - all alone - all in one. And all flow to YOU!
This the river - we all came from and - we´ll all go to.
we are all ONE
Few had heard of Nick Drake when he was alive. Lovely music.
Great quality on a really beautiful song.
superb
é uma maravilha!
☝️😎
Mario Sobrero absolutely agree!
Beautiful... One of the cameras they used is out of sync with the music, though. (It's really obvious at 7:49.)

Such a shame the piano's out of tune :'(
really???
Yes. I can hear it also.
My dear, that is called DISSONANCE. He is making it sound that way.
turn his eye over...
Absolutely awful piano sound. US Steinway.
piano out of tune..unacceptable for this level of art..
Are you serious???!!!!!
It seems someone has 0 ear for chords with extensions and tensions. Go to listen more more music and come back when you feel ready
