REAL APACHE PILOT embarrasses himself on DCS!

- Maybe not an embarrassment, but definitely not tactically sound LOL! Having fun with the boys on a recent mission night. Manage to get a few kills...and get killed a few times. XD
and a happy little tree right here, it's not a mistake, just a happy little accident.
This might be a stupid question, but can you open the cockpit doors while the rotors are running on an apache without them fouling the blades?
You can definitely have them open at idle RPM, and you could probably have them open at full RPM, but why would you want to?
@@schoolio64D So the dog can stick his face out at speed.
Great stuff. Interesting hearing what you were thinking. I just can't hover and noe like that yet. In time I hope 😀 How do you try again by the way? I've never got respawn to work.
That was in multiplayer, so you have to go back to tile select - there is no respawn. In Single player respawn should work with either L-SHFT or L-CTRL + R (sorry can’t remember which one at the moment).
@@schoolio64D Thanks. I can reload, but the only respawn type thing I've done is when you can pick another Heli from roles.
@@stovic1442 yeah I don’t think there is any other way.
i just noticed 3-17 cav was on this game lol that was my last unit
And ED’s site has more user liveries that you can download. Personally I fly with the A Co 1-101st Spectre livery as that was my very first unit.
Thanks for watching!
Good Morning Coffee Video lol Forgive my song placement. But I had Fun

How realistic is the dcs apache from 1 to 10? Anyway, great videos
Well, it’s still in early access, so there’s a lot of work that still needs to be done. But based on the features that are active right now, I’d give it an 9.
nice, i've not used george yet, been spending my time just learning to fly it, i've not really used OBS for recording much DCS but are you encoding off the CPU or GPU? you could try switching and seeing if the stutter goes away
That’s a recent problem as well, I think related to Windows 11. I tried recording earlier with OBS running as administrator, and I think that helps, but I won’t know for sure until I watch the playback. Thanks!
Never thought I would ever hear someone use the word "organic" with DCS. I am a bit disappointed.
Was George firing here? I notice that the 'George display' is yellow meaning that he doesn't have consent?. Or was George locking the TADS and then you were firing? Great job with the Tunguskas - those things are bitches to kill.
Thanks! Yeah George was shooting. Yellow means that you have to approve every shot using consent to fire. Green puts him into a free-fire mode where he’ll engage anything he sees.
@@schoolio64D Oh cool. I thought yellow meant that he wouldn't fire at all.
just curious. were you this calm on comms while flying in country?
Depends on what I was doing 😂
@@schoolio64D 😁 i couldn't resist.
Hi, I don't see the dotted cross on the ihadss on the target that George has locked on to, I see where the tads is looking. Must I turn this on somewhere?
He should be looking at the target if you have your acquisition source set to TADS once you tell him to slave. Are you viewing the TADS video when you have him scan for targets?
@@schoolio64D I think i had the tads on the mfd, will try it again today.
@@schoolio64D Ok i did a mission and i did put the TADS on the right MFD. I can see what target george is slaved to and lasing, the hellfire do also hit the targets but i don't get that cross on the IHADSS. Must i mirror the TADS to the IHADSS?
@@schoolio64D Found out the fault, I had to set the ACQ to TADS.
Glad you were able to make it work!
I just realised that if another Apache goes down you don't have any room to help the crew out unless they sit on your lap.....
They can sit on the EFABS next to the cockpit and clip themselves in to the handles. It’s an emergency but it’s been done before.
They climb on the wings and strap on. Its been done in combat
Can you make a tutorial on how to calibrate the IHADS in VR please?
Do you mean how to do an IHADSS boresight? I could probably do that as either a short or incorporate it into something else.
Casmo and Wags have a good tutorial about the procedure - just not in VR and I find it quite difficult to do this...my crosshair and the bullets seldom meet at the same point ;-)
@@marcroth7581 +1
Amazing editing skills! great job schoolio
Thank you! Still learning but I appreciate it!
Diving into the UA-cam eh! Good stuff.
May as well...everyone else is doing it! LOL
@@schoolio64D I hear ya. Doing it right is loads of work. Be careful recording vr as it often gets jittery for the viewer when someone is talking. I do prefer TrackIR but the 64 may push me to vr someday! You’re off to a good start.
Need the Longbow
You mean the actual radar? Supposedly coming in a future update…that’ll be a whole new learning curve for folks…and more content for me. 😂
Hey there, I’m an ex British Army JTAC, regards your fuel, what I know the Apache pilots did in Afghan after I spoke to one I knew after witnessing a very “sporty” take off from Camp Bastion, they would take off with full or almost full tanks, at times barely clearing the fence at times, they would take as much fuel as possible & calculate that by the time the got to the AOO 25% of the fuel had already been used up, so in short they would only worry about clearing the fence, as long as they could be certain of being able to do that then the rest would sort itself out.
At the beginning of OIF 1 our guys were so heavily loaded with armament and fuel that they had to do rolling takeoffs, knowing that they were going to sleep in the middle of the desert that night and wait for the ground elements to catch up with the fuel trucks.
@@schoolio64D you should write a book on your experiences
@@marcs990 that might be pretty boring. 😂
@@schoolio64D nope, I’m sure as an aviator you would have some stories, n yeah the British Apaches had the same issue regards the rolling takeoffs. I think the newer British built apaches had Rolls Royce engines that I think but not sure had 20%ish more power than the US & they still had the same ones take off problems. The density altitude had a lot to do with it
Great vid Schoolio, thanks for making these videos sharing your insight and experience as well 😊
One thing I noticed during the video (and your hovering tips video) though is a constant crackling in your audio. Are you using VoiceMeter and/or Virtual Audio Cables to separate game sound from whatever comms you are using?
The below may all look like french but i add it in the hopes it will help you out 😊
If so, you may want to double check your settings and potentially switch to the ASIO driver if you have an audio interface for an XLR microphone (Focusrite, Behringher, Native Instruments .etc). Additionally, you may need to set the affinity of the audiodg.exe windows process to one core as well, especially if people are complaining that your microphone is crackling in whatever you use for comms.
Thanks! I appreciate the audio tips. That’s a recent development and I’m not sure what’s causing it. I have separate gaming and recording/streaming machines, and I was using Voicemeeter on both, but something happened to the settings and I had to reconfigure, and the audio has been rough since. I’ll definitely work on it. Thanks again!
What does that menu you're bringing up at @2:28?
That is the comms menu. Some people call it the F10 menu but mine is mapped to the backslash key (the key above the "enter" key on your keyboard).
@@schoolio64D nope, that's a map menu when F10 is depressed. 🤷
@@WilliamDeanPlumbing correct. I said that people call it the F10 menu, but it’s actually the comms menu and it’s typically mapped to the backslash key.
@@schoolio64D ahh okay thanks. Curious why it's called the F10 menu though LOL
@@WilliamDeanPlumbing I’m still trying to figure that out myself 😂
