As a type one diabetic, the more storage the better!!! Insulin pump, and more gels/glucose etc. to ensure not caught out by a hypo on a long run (even short runs can catch me by suppose), on top of usual keys/phone etc. Would love to see a video on how other Type 1 diabetics manage running etc.
Thnx for the video. Very surprised you didn't include any Janji products. Storage is what they're known for, when it comes to running bottoms. They make quality shorts and tights, with fantastic storage.
The soar are expensive but well worth the money if your purpose is a marathon. My last 2 PRs (maybe that helps my like for them :)) I used them and loved them. I did as you mentioned and used the front ones first. I was also able to put another 1 in the zip and my salt pills with plenty of space.
Oh my god, this video is the best! I have been searching my ass off for max storage shorts, since I run my marathon with sports drinks (Nutrid) and want to carry 100ml soft flasks in my shorts. Well try to enter a search for 2 in 1 shorts, with a decent drop in pocket on the inner short for my phone ánd lots of decent pockets. I really loved the nike epic luxe trail from the review but as mentoned earlier, no mens available. Then I saw the cimalp twin trail and I'm absolutely sold! Ordered it straight away and can only hope that they are as great as they look🙏🤞
I love the rabbit FKT for storage come in 3” 5” or 7” same storage. Zipper rear two great side pockets and a key/card pocket. Not sure if available in UK yet.
I went the other way. I stopped taking anything with me on my runs. My Garmin can do payments, music and can navigate me around if I need help finding my way home. In my shorts I only need space for a single key (home or car) and optionally some tissues to get rid of sweat. If I need water, I will just buy it on the way. Where I live there are also water intakes with publicly available taps so I can just stop there and drink and wash my face if I need to. I have one high capacity pair just in case I am really going for a long run in the mountains or if I need to take a phone with me for some reason and I also have a vest, but they are not getting a lot of use now that I got used to running light.
I am trying to ditch the marathon belt but am too self conscious to wear max storage tights...lol. So I think I will give the Terrex Agravic shorts a try. It is hard to find shorts where the gels do not bounce, its really distracting.
Nice video guys. You missed the Gore Ultimate 2in1 shorts. Not cheap, but wondered if you had used these before. Nick, I know you love Soar Products, don’t we all. The Marathon shorts I know are being updated and are hopefully released shortly. I think I’ll be trying the adidas terrex shorts out. Can’t get them in the Acid Green in my size unfortunately. These types are great for races if you don’t want a belt, as sometimes the nutrition provided you don’t want to use and take your own. Wish On Running put a nice band with some loops on their race shorts. Last question for Nick. Why do you prefer taking a sports drink for race with a gel or two over just using gels. I’m unsure of using this strategy for Boston.
Thanks. Yep we couldn't get hold of the Gore shorts in time for this unfortunately, if we do get them into test we'll try and get info out there in some other way! I (Nick) prefer drinks just from experience really - I find them an easier way to get high amounts of carbs in on the run without upsetting my stomach. I've run my best marathons using the Maurten drinks in particular, and when I've tried gel-only strategies it just hasn't gone as well.
@@TheRunTesters . Was wondering have the run tester did a review video of the best running belts. Was looking at a flip belt , but I don’t think the flip belt is that great for soft flasks and trying to put them back inside on the move. A video on the best belts would be great.
Stay away from the Adidas Terex that is reviewed here. Bought NEW w/tags from eBay at a slight discount. The stitching on the storage compartments is so flimsy if you barely use any force at all putting things in and getting items out, one mistake if pulling a tad bit too hard and the flimsy stitching tears out of the elastic part that is stitched into the non elastic fine webbing material. Already sewn one compartment back up and just now as I was readying to go for a trail run found the front compartment is now failing! Great idea on these max storage shorts but horrible construction on the compartments!
I got the CimAlp Twin Trail based on your recommendation and love them so much that I bought 2 extra pairs. I also bought the CimAlp Aoste H for the pockets, but somehow my iPhone 12 will not stay in place in the inner pocket. I never had this problem with the Twin Trail. I only use the Aoste H for marathons without carrying a phone
Trail runner here. Been using these kind of shorts for many years. these are life savers since i hate hydration vests......
15:10 Aoste is the main city in the Italian mountain region Valle d'Aosta. Lots of high mountains there.

Patagonia strider pro running shorts. Lot of secure and deep pockets, light weight, very comfortable inner liner, two length options and look smart.
Nice, thanks for the tip, we’ll check them out!

We’ll have to check some more out for sure, the only Janji ones I’ve (Nick) tested only have one pocket so need to try others with more!

Why does he wear underwear under his soar running shorts? isn't it pure nonsense under dedicated running shorts? How do you wear yours?

Sherpa shorts from T8 should be high up on the list. Brilliant with Commando liner -> no chafing
Better without the constricting liner for no chafing
unfortunately for everybody who watches this video now, cimalp have unfortunately removed the drop in pocket from the base layer :(
Great topic! Been looking around at shorts lately.
Any here you like the look of?

Oooh, not seen those before. Will check them out. Looks like they're available in the UK now.
i like the shredder by rabbit even more - i was actually hoping to see them in this review. can't go wrong with either pair!

Thank you for this review: I am going to get the Nike Epix Luxe Trail Running Shorts
Really happy it was helpful, Jennifer. Let us know how you get on with them.
It’s like you’re opened my browser history. Exactly what I’ve been on the hunt for. Thank you.

loved this review! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Yaki, thanks for letting us know.
When is the next podcast? They are really good
Very helpful video! Loved the nike epic luxe trail shorts and the review but there is no mens version available to buy.
Great video this guys. Thanks!

125 for shorts! jeez. is it adding some years to my life???
Great video. Super useful!
Thanks Adrian, glad it was helpful.
M&S max storage shorts aren't truly max storage but the price is so good for the quality if you want to carry a phone and keys with you on a run.

Hi, really like the look of the Adidas Terrex for my first half next month, would you be able to fit a smart phone (iPhone 13) in the rear pocket?
Same question from me
@@morecakes I’ve since bought them and it fits but I ended up putting the phone in the front pouch.
Absolutely brilliant video and one I have been wishing for 👍👍, one minor thing - what about the Patagonia Pro Strider 5 shorts? Ever tried them?
Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed it. Not tried the Patagonias. Do you rate them?
Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed it. Not tried the Patagonias. Do you rate them?
Looked for the Adidas ones on their app and they only seem to have them for women now? Shame they look really good.
T8 Sherpa Shorts 👍
But better without the constricting liner for no chafing
Yep i love it too😊
Where's the path projects?
What about the janji shorts? Janji came to UK this year, so don't have to ship from US.
We've been testing some Janji kit. Jackets are solid. Not tried the shorts yet.
Holy... £125 for those Soar shorts? Are they made from unicorn hair?!?
Haha, and dragon scales. Very pricy, and only really good for that one purpose as discussed, but great for that purpose.
Phone keys card. Where you going, shopping?
Sometimes, yeah!

Extra beer after a race!
Well yes! Any morning you promise to get something for breakfast, fast... 😏
Well, learn to sew and save some money.
Path Projects are better than all of these imo
Not tested those. Thanks for the tip off.
