Well considering most of the board in people that will be running the perks come from cedar Fair. I would imagine they would handle them the way that cedar Fair would and not the way six flags management would which could be better or worse depending on how you look at it. Maybe they'll learn from their mistake of not going with intamin to reimagine a ride intamin actually built and when the time comes for kingda ka to need significant changes, they will choose the right manufacturer

I think both companies hold some blame here. You can’t fault Zamperla for swinging at this opportunity but you have to be realistic. CP should have never chosen them because their portfolio has nothing remotely close to what you are asking them to create. You are reimagining a ride from another manufacturer with their technology, then building onto that with your untested technology. And not to mention you have never done anything like this with your own technology. It was a recipe for disaster and that is what’s unfolding right now
Its not just the wheels though. If you look at the track & support inspections theyve been doing, the new trains are ripping the old track & supports apart, on top of the trains wheel assemblies not being manufactured properly to withstand the stresses the ride is designed to make. It will not surprise me if all of the old track & supports need to be replaced and Zamperla has to make entirely new custom trains.... or CP finally calls instamin after this huge fiasco.
Was at Cedar Point on Monday and Tuesday this week. Walked by TT2 many times and let me tell you it looks amazing. Love the grey supports and the spike is HUGE in person. Booked my trip in April just to ride TT2. Traveled all the way from Florida and spent a pile of cash. Between a rental tahoe, tickets, fast pass express, home on the lake 1 mile from the park, food, alcohol, and a first class ticket home, it was thousands of dollars. So, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The part that upset me the most was the lack of communication from the park. Because it wasn't supposed to be "an all summer thing," I held on the hope it would eventually open before I got there. Cedar Point knew this ride was going to be down all season. Instead of saying anything, they just went silent so suckers like me would still come and spend their money. Obviously still had a great time but if I would of known it would not be operational for the season I would of canceled my trip in time and came next year. I still have many other parks to visit before I make it back to Cedar Point. Just wish integrity was more important than money. But when you are dealing with a big company like Six Flags, it is sadly to be expected. Hope Zamperla can get this coaster fixed so I can come back in a few years and ride it.
I don’t think cedar point knew it was gonna be closed all season. They were testing continuously and unfortunately I think the testing revealed issues.
I still think they should have went with S&S for an air launch, along with a GROUND UP redo of everything (assuming the new S&S trains apply too much force to the current structure). They could have taken DoDoDompa’a record and extended the layout. Name should have been Polaris with jet black supports and white track. I also think TT2 was heavily rushed into production. Dragster closed in 2021, then this was made in 2024. Two years development doesn’t seem like enough time to work the kinks/potential errors, and these issues show it. They should have just aimed to open TT2 (or in an ideal world Polaris -explained above) in 2025/6 to allow for more planning time. CP’s trust with Zamperla was built on a wild mouse, so there was not much to begin with. I can imagine what CP said to Zamperla: “the wild mouse works, so yay! Your next task is the Dragster reincarnation. GO!”
Fyi cedar Fair is definitely not footing the bill for what is currently going on, which is why they will continue to allow it to be worked on. Zamperla's, totally eating this. Not only are they spending huge resources on making this happen cuz their future depends on it. But also it'll be a long time before they ever get cedar Fair to work with them if ever at all
you do realize they did go to intamin first.... cedar point was not happy with their proposal as it required tearing down iron dragon. So they declined and went with Zamp... so ddont say they didnt work with intamin.,.. they tried. The porblem is the couplers that hold the wheels... kinda like the trucks on a skateboard. They were showing stress fractures. They had to redesign the entire wheel housing. So there is your info your missing on your video. Have a nice Day!

Going with an inexperienced coaster company and sticking their prototype trains on 20+ year old foundation and track while also running those trains near their maximum limit was nothing short of an idiotic business decision from Cedar Point/Fair.
I thought the whole point of the lightning trains was that they were lighter than the originals. Am I wrong? If that's the case then they would be putting less stress on the track each pass. Maybe if the old track is deforming from its age more than expected, that could be stressing the aluminum more than the old steel trains.
Top Thrill 2 is just a small blip in the parks history unless you are under 25 - and not a very good one. It's far from the signature ride lol. It's more their signature mistake.
TTD wasn't the favorite ride or experience in the park for most people. But since 2003, the 420 foot tower was the most prominent thing in the skyline. It's one of the first things you see from the causeway. In 2024, the spike is the second most distinctive element in the skyline.

Track could be an issue, trains going two directions require more precision in wheel alignment and track insistencies will exacerbates things. Track is probably good for a one way train, but maybe some slight issues for a 2-way.
As someone in the bridge construction industry, (working for the department of transportation for Michigan) this is what you get when the low bidder wins. It seems CP has a few companies on its “no bid list” so those companies (Intamin) don’t get a chance to even bid and you get companies like Zamperla who aren’t equipped to handle something like this. They never were. Is it Zamperla’s fault? Not exactly. Of course the smaller company is going after the biggest project ever and the big money. I don’t blame them. It’s Cedar Fairs fault for the most part in allowing a flat ride manufacturer to take this on. And it really sucks because it shows that CF would rather put monetary value over their customer/fan base. And the worst part about it is, as stated in this video, CF will more than likely blackball Zamperla because of this, which isn’t exactly fair.
Not true , cf the first place they went was intamin and they’re concepts weren’t as practical retro fitting things were also an issue as well but as breathtaking as it was it was lemon with it’s unique launch having an insane amount of components,compressors , nitrogen tanks , vacuum hoses , pulley and cable spools lol it was an absolute nightmare to maintain and manage they lost their asses

Ok here is something to think about....these new"lightning trains" are exactly like intamins new trains that falcons flight will have. Why am I saying this??? Well seeing some of Zamperlas engineers previously working for intamin, could they have brought train designs with them to Zamperla??? If Zamperla can't fix the issue with Ttd2 either call intamin and have them redesign it or tear it down and build the best giga by b &m or another world class coaster.
I wouldn't completely bust Zamperla's new designs. Even though they fumbled on TT2, ThunderVolt at PNE and Lightning in China feature the new trains (not with the custom wheel assembly of TT2) and apparently are running pretty well and reliably

Are the trains to light or to heavy? If its causing stress on the old track... Wouldn't lighter trains avoid that? As far as getting it right, Lighting Rod was redone how many times? I get that it was just the lift/launch part. TTD2 might be "done" but CP isnt ruined by it.
It has been said that realistically the whole train may have to be redesigned. Apparently even the chassis is suffering extreme wear and tear and it's because these trains are actually heavier than the original and they also sit more upright and higher off the track than the original. Personally, I always thought the wheels looked kind of weird for this ride and wondered how they would sustain such high-speed back and forth. When you look at them in comparison to the original train
I was lucky enough to ride tt2 twice the ride was amazing. And this complication is not ruining cedar point. If you feel that way then you don't know how to enjoy your time in the park
I figured that since it must be more than just the wheels that they would not reopen it this season and wait until the Park closes for the season to work on the ride when no one can see what they are doing…..since they are so secretive.
Well no one saw this coming. 😕 New for 2026 Top Thrill lawn ornament. Zamperla was the WRONG choice. I love how Cedar Point is blaming Zamperla, but it was Cedar Points fault for going with Zamperla. How did they not figure this was a problem since this ride was testing since December. Bring back Intamin and let them fix the swing launch and whatever else seems to be the problem. I'm sorry, but Zamperla did not deliver, and no nothing, zip out of Cedar Point. Well Six Flags Cedar Point is living upto the Six Flags brand. I do not see this reopening. It was a hell of a redo as I rode it during the preview week. Who would have thought that all of us who received the First Rider pins would possibly be the only riders and the few during opening week.
Falcons Flight has literally an unlimited budget for it. Cedar Fair couldn’t ever afford something like that. Intamin literally has no restrictions nothing to hold them back.
The reality is it isn't just the trains and the wheels. It's also the legacy Intamin tophat support structure swaying and cracking. It's also the troublesome transition between the new Zamperla track and the legacy Intamin track. The best case scenario is that CP and Greater Six Flags decides to punt and pull the plug on this quicker than expected and decide to tear down the whole thing and demolish and excavate the area, this winter, and build a new mega coaster, perhaps a B&M giga taller than Fury or something else like that that's very reliable and has high capacity and can bring reliability and capacity to a park that is lagging in those two areas. If they tear down Dragster this winter they can potentially have the new, different concept mega coaster open by opening day of 2026.
I honestly don't know if bringing intamin back would have made it better they had almost 20 years to gett ttd to run before zamperla showed up? I honestly do wonder if cp honestly should just cut there lose there loses on ttd tbhhhhhh.... Plus zamperla did good work on wild mouse tho it does have alot issues too so it kinda sucks to see this happen. They show alot of promise. But it also wasn't just one incident it was a long list of issues and down time. Like the og ttd hardly ever was working either.
Agree on calling intamin, iffy but open about removing iron dragon, but a definite HELL NO on a stupid new name especially with a stupid dorky fantasy fiction theme. The sports theme and name is part of what made Top Thrill Dragster amazing.
Nooo this is cedar fair pushing every manufacturer away so the merger with six flags hopefully fixes this six flags is slow ops and bad food and run down but as for everything else six flags does better than cedar fair imo hope the six flags half of the board just makes them work with a different company to fix it or make a new ride cedar point isn’t in the same place as the old company no more and they have other parks in the combined company with way more room for growth and development cedar point doesn’t have to compete with magic mountain and vice versa so I expect things to get demolished for both parks and get in new and better coasters still think magic mountain will keep going for the most coaster because I mean the park is so big they can just keep going and the location no offense more people travel to California so you can work with a bigger pool of people

It doesn't say it will open in 2025. It says they are committed to have it open in 2025. Like they were committed to opening it this year.

Well no one saw this coming. 😕 New for 2026 Top Thrill lawn ornament. Zamperla was the WRONG choice. I love how Cedar Point is blaming Zamperla, but it was Cedar Points fault for going with Zamperla. How did they not figure this was a problem since this ride was testing since December. Bring back Intamin and let them fix the swing launch and whatever else seems to be the problem. I'm sorry, but Zamperla did not deliver, and no nothing, zip out of Cedar Point. Well Six Flags Cedar Point is living upto the Six Flags brand. I do not see this reopening. It was a hell of a redo as I rode it during the preview week. Who would have thought that all of us who received the First Rider pins would possibly be the only riders and the few during opening week.
You’d think they learned their lesson with Son of Beast. That was a Cedar Fair park too. Picking a cheaper manufacturer really but them in the ass.
I am definitely not returning to cedar point until this ride is running. I’m tired of walking around a DEAD ORNAMENT!
The hump hill coasters are always a problem and can only run 1 car...just not worth it for any park to pay sooo much for problems

Falcons Flight has literally an unlimited budget for it. Cedar Fair couldn’t ever afford something like that. Intamin literally has no restrictions nothing to hold them back.

The reality is it isn't just the trains and the wheels. It's also the legacy Intamin tophat support structure swaying and cracking. It's also the troublesome transition between the new Zamperla track and the legacy Intamin track.
The best case scenario is that CP and Greater Six Flags decides to punt and pull the plug on this quicker than expected and decide to tear down the whole thing and demolish and excavate the area, this winter, and build a new mega coaster, perhaps a B&M giga taller than Fury or something else like that that's very reliable and has high capacity and can bring reliability and capacity to a park that is lagging in those two areas. If they tear down Dragster this winter they can potentially have the new, different concept mega coaster open by opening day of 2026.

I honestly don't know if bringing intamin back would have made it better they had almost 20 years to gett ttd to run before zamperla showed up?

Plus zamperla did good work on wild mouse tho it does have alot issues too so it kinda sucks to see this happen. They show alot of promise.
But it also wasn't just one incident it was a long list of issues and down time.

Agree on calling intamin, iffy but open about removing iron dragon, but a definite HELL NO on a stupid new name especially with a stupid dorky fantasy fiction theme. The sports theme and name is part of what made Top Thrill Dragster amazing.
I say just remove it and put something else there. The only problem with removing it is the fact that it drastically changes the skyline.
Nooo this is cedar fair pushing every manufacturer away so the merger with six flags hopefully fixes this six flags is slow ops and bad food and run down but as for everything else six flags does better than cedar fair imo hope the six flags half of the board just makes them work with a different company to fix it or make a new ride cedar point isn’t in the same place as the old company no more and they have other parks in the combined company with way more room for growth and development cedar point doesn’t have to compete with magic mountain and vice versa so I expect things to get demolished for both parks and get in new and better coasters still think magic mountain will keep going for the most coaster because I mean the park is so big they can just keep going and the location no offense more people travel to California so you can work with a bigger pool of people

Its more than the wheels,runor has it the trains are heavier than the OG..They have to go back and redesign the trains...I called this a yr ago but got flamed by the coaster fan boys..Intiman should have done this PERIOD
