There is NOTHING that can match the overall package a Porsche offers. Its a reliable enough for daily use, its comfortable enough for long drives yet its sporty enough to also hit the tracks and keep up with the best sports cars and super cars out there. Amazing power from that notoriously strong and reliable Flat-6, with legendary Porsche transmissions solid and true. Its price tags are why they cost so much. Interior quality is 2nd to none, design is timeless, and it keeps its value forever.
The impressive thing is that the GT4 is less powerful and much cheaper than that SV and thanks to the cars performance and handling and the drivers skills it kept up with it
No doubts here, the Porshce and driver utilised their momentum and corner speed to show the Aventador a very close pair of Porsche headlights. Good drive......Momentum is the key to combating power.
Lambo gets away in a straight line, but the Cayman soon catches up on the bends. PDK is great technology, but it's nice seeing someone use a manual box properly - and it saves a lot of weight.
I agree with the EVT 987, great driving. That was some awesome shifting too. I saw you almost go from 3rd to 2nd but felt it was wrong and went over to 4th. Nice catch. Get your facts right before you unjustly praise Porsche instead of praising the actual SKILL of his driver, which is easily catching up a 42 seconds quicker car. With a manual transmission.
Mike O'Horny I assume what u r sayin’. Actually, Porsche held twice world record on this track with the following cars: Porsche Spyder 918 (6:57, 2013) and Porsche 911 GT2 RS (6:47.25, 2018 - which was absolutely insane lap). Also the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has a very good lap time (6:56.4, 2018). However, Cayman GT4 (981) is a car for driving pleasure, with a manual transmission, it is not a racing special like GT2/3 RS (with a deletion of audio and communication system) or the Lambo’s SuperVeloce or SVJ (which is holding the current Nurburgring record 6:44.97). Lambo’s got around 740 horse power (1750 kg) comparing to the Cayman’s 380 hp (1380 kg), so in this case, the video you are watching is actually about a good skill of a driver, which is beating up the superior Lambo.

But I don’t think the Porsche is faster on top speed and in the acceleration department when they enter the track it was clear that the Aventador was quicker to get at speed so the pilot of the Porsche was the special ingredient in this case. 👍 kudos to him because it’s a pretty reward to recived when you know you as fast or faster than the other one who was more powerful, I’ve been riding sport bikes all my life and when you pass someone on your 600 or 750cc and the other guy has a 1000 it felt pretty nice in te self esteem. 😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@William Snow It should do. It's 6x the price. But not at the Ring if theres a crappy driver in the SVJ and an experienced driver in the Cayman.
@William Snow So your original comment is meaningless then? It's pretty obvious that the Cayman driver in this video is better and knows the track, even though the Aventador should be quicker.
@William Snow So saying that an $600k car is faster than a $100k car is somehow relevant? An Aventador is faster than a Cayman too, but not in this video.
F to pay respect to the brave cone that took one for the team
Lawrence 😂🙌
Phenomenal drive - manual Porsche!
I watched both videos. Very great drive. Ring Taxi version was on Road & Track website. Your 15 min bro. Enjoy!
I drive a 991 Carrera 4S. I live in the States but dream of taking a Porsche to the Ring some day.
+Dan Zegzula Hey Dan. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know R&T posted it. Cool! Enjoy the 991 and enjoy the howl of the N/A 3.8! You should go to the ring for sure and try to plan it so you can do Spa in Belgium as well. Just an hour drive apart. 2 greatest tracks in the world. Try looking up RSRspa and RSRnurburg for track days and Porsche rental! Greets
Congratulations, you are a better driver than the Lamborghini, and know your GT4 very well. Where the other slowed you accelerated. Although the Aventador is all wheel drive and has 365 horses more than the Cayman, or almost double, it is not able to keep pace and have gone from the beginning. Excellent, video, excellent purchase. Greetings from Barcelona Spain.
The power of the gt4 is very reasonable, a light car with 415 hp is way easier too manage than a Lamborghini
But yeah, he is very skilful. And he knows his car well.
*to
What about the M3 you were holding up with 5 people in?
Haha, I know right!
One glove, no helmet. Love it!✌️
"Driving slow car fast is more fun than driving fast cars slow"
Always seems weird to see a Lamborghini on a race track.
Just watching that my heart was pumping looking for the overtake but thinking don’t wanna be taken out
I can watch this all day
