@@DeltaSix_YT I think they only modified the cables, which won't zap you. Either way, you should still know what you're doing, for the reasons in the video
PSUs have Short-circuit and Reverse current protection by regulation. Although some PSUs may not be up to standard, it should be fine to try different cables. Good PSUs will spin the fan a bit then instantly turn off or not power on at all. It's up to you if you want to take the risk
Ok I'm very glad I came across this video because I'm thinking about getting some cable extensions and I didn't know entirely how to use them thanks for taking the time to explain this to us I appreciate it
You have no idea how many times I have to explain this to people building their own PCs. You cant just simply interchange PSU cables with different manufacturers but some people would just refuse to listen.
Cable mod cables are safe so long as your power supply is on the cable mod compatibility list (I’m talking about cable mod’s Modular PSU cables, not extensions)
As someone who is currently mixing psu cables for an argb hub, i would still definitely say dont do it just incase. But i play it risky for my flashing colors
There was a time before I knew this where I swapped out a fully modular 650W PSU and an 850W from the same brand, but they were different enough to completely fry my SSDs, and that was back when they were still $200 for 1TB. Luckily no fires or explosions though and the rest of the hardware was fine.
I actually used cables from different brands together, but I switched around the cables so I wouldn't blow up stuff . You can remove the molex cables with fine tweezers. Measure twice plug once :)
What are your thoughts on upgrading first? I have a rx5700xt and 3600x im a 1080p gamer and mostly go for stunning visuals than fps as long as I have 80fps I’m fine. Love your vids man keep up the amazing info and reliable news❤
since you have a ryzen 5 3600x +5700xt i’d be more inclined to tell you to upgrade cpu first, your cpu is already currently too weak for your gpu so there would be 0 point in upgrading your gpu, depending on how much money you have to spend i’d look at possibly buying an am5 ryzen cpu as this is the best upgrade path as its a brand new cpu socket and is guaranteed to be supported for an amount of time, but if your looking for a cheaper upgrade you can always just upgrade to a ryzen 5000 series cpu
If you want stunning visuals you want the highest presets, or texture quality, this means more VRAM, I would upgrade to a 6700XT, this should be sufficient for a 3600X
Years ago When i built my first pc i almost did this. I bought a new psu and reused some gpu and sata cables. Thankfully they were both evga and happend to reuse the same cable layout. So i save myself much pain
I need to know a cheap gpu to put in my dell optiplex. My budget for a gpu is around £30 I know that is nothing but could you help as you’re the best tech UA-camr out here.
Me hearing useing the wrong brand wires will cause a fire when my main mobo wire has been a fraken cable made of half copper half aluminum and it hasnt blown up in all 5 years i had it
I was curious for a while even though I've always known to not mix and match cables chargers and some other things like airsoft batteries and chargers do not mix and match those you will burn your house down
Corsairs modular psu cables are designed to be used interchangably. To a degree at least. Like for modern ones. Ones from 10+ yrs ago i wouldnt lol but basically the "type" will be labeled such as type 4 and as long as the 24 pin on the psu you are using the cables for is also a corsair rm or rmx or rme is also a type 4 then the rest of the cables r safe. Ive done my research on this and corsair themselves say all this. I used my old cables on my new psu and used the new cables from the psu on my old psu for my wifes pc lol theyre both working. I did swap out the gpu cable tho. Which from what i could had a different pinout so could be good i did that lol i might have also just counted the wrong end idk haha
I made the mistake of mixing those cables, I didnt want to re-route new psu cables where there were already cables. everything went just fine, mainly because the new psu was from the same seasonic lineup lol
650e psu is on the low side. Get about 800 above since you are using high end parts. 80 series should be enough for your gaming needs paired with that CPU.
I am making a build with 12100f and 5700xt and I would like to know how to save money or upgrade it and keep it under 600 dollars. Also where can I get a used 5700xt and I can’t find any on Jawa.
Thank you for taking the time to explain these things!
Uhm, its his job to do that

Hats off to those who learned this the hard way
This guy is extremely helpful for literally anyone interested in building a PC
Yeah i think i am at some point
glazing is crazy
not all the time
Why not?@@dotand0
Alright, to be honest, this information was very useful
I learned it the hard way, mix matching old Seasonic PSU to new Corsair PSU. lots of smoke resulting fried fans, fried SSD, fried HDD.
I knew you couldn't mix and match psu cables but had no clue why those extension cables weren't more frowned upon, now I got it.
After all these years, I didn't know that. Best video I've watched in 1,233 years.
I modified some Enermax cables to put them on a Corsair that I didn't have, it takes a bit of skill but it can be done with the right tools 🛠️
That still sounds like a bad idea lol
...with the right tools AND expierence. do not under any circumstance open up your power supply if you don't know what you're doing.
@@DeltaSix_YT I think they only modified the cables, which won't zap you. Either way, you should still know what you're doing, for the reasons in the video
@@DeltaSix_YT I just reversed two pin on the modular cables , there is no need to open the power supply 😂
@@singwolf. ik but still

This is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate the very concise explanation.
Thank you for answering this. I knew you could use extensions but not why until now.
This was actually very helpful. Thank you. I learned something watching this short.
Ok I'm very glad I came across this video because I'm thinking about getting some cable extensions and I didn't know entirely how to use them thanks for taking the time to explain this to us I appreciate it
Extension cables are crazy for esthetics
You have no idea how many times I have to explain this to people building their own PCs. You cant just simply interchange PSU cables with different manufacturers but some people would just refuse to listen.
To be clear I was asking about the compatibility of the extension cables, not the psu cables, which he’s made 20 videos on
I actually figured this out yesterday and now am seeing this confirmation from you
ty for clarifying this omg i’ve always wanted answers
thanks a lot for finally clearing up all the confusion. This video really helped!
Thanks actually very important information that I haven't seen elsewhere.
I am looking into building a PC and this is great information! Thanks for letting us know!
Thank you for scaring me even more before building my first pc 😭🙏
I didn’t know I needed this but it was actually very helpful thank you
Thanks, this is a very dangerous topic I've not been hearing much and it should instead. Build safe!

How important ! Great job, quick and clear as always....and that will certainly save a few computers from frying 😅😊
That's f*ing crazy!
I built a PC without knowing this, but I only used the cables that came with the PC.
Thank you so much this was highly anticipated
This was very helpful to everyone and anyone.
This was extremely helpful 💯
Thanks for removing my fear of using extension cables
YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOREVER
Now this was a good information video as this is something I definitely needed to know just had not looked into yet 😂
I learned this the hardway!
Very good explanation 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Goddamn you are a time saver sir!
Straight to the point. Cheers

That was actually interesting info. Thanks 👍
Very good info for basics. But you did forget that some people will get custom cables from a company like cablemod
No. Not all extension cables are created equal. Great content as always...

Thats the information i looking for, tyvm ❤
thanks all I needed to know
This is the spicy part of diy pc building
Great explanation ❤
Corsair extensions hook up right to the psu and it makes so much more room in the pc without extra cables
instructions unclear. My pc is now a firework show
Throw water on it
Very nice video keep up the good work 😂🎉
Ive done this. No fire, all still good. But they were both recent power supplies, one MSI & one Corsair.

I have no idea what he said but now im worried about my psu 👀 just plug in the ones that came with the psu into where they fit 🤞
What your favorite pc you’ve ever built?
(Make a video on it)
this should be standarized on the PSU side too. This is why I avoid modular PSUs. But please, take notes on this, might become a standard one day.
Thank you ❤
Would it be possible to get the glacier pre-built in black im planning to buy my first PC in a few months
What are your thoughts on custom made for that PSU replacement cables like the ones many folks get from brands like Cablemod?
You can actually measure if your cable is pin to pin if you are familiar with it.

Hey, I have an intel Xeon e3 1270 v5 and an nvidia 1650 gtx with 32 gigs of ram. What should I upgrade first for better performance?
As a new pc builder and seller, what is the best place? Can I buy pc parts, and what should be my first build to sell?
Those cables are the hardest part in building a pc.
Could we get a video to test this out ?
That's actually what i wanted to know lol
For a gaming pc what would you choose between the rtx 4070 and the rx 7900 gre ?
what are the best spec for 1.5k that can run 4k nfs heat and forza. idh enough knowledge bout these pc things but im keeping to learn and learn more

Yo zach i have a ryzen 7 5700x what gpu do you suggest please make a video about that
me, an SFX build owner: this is a real challenge for me, because i need shorter cables rather than extensions
What are the recommended specs for extension cables? I mean for example using cheap cables is gonna damage your GPU overtime, right?
What gpu would you recommend for a ryzen 9 5900x, 32gb of ram and a 650w power supply preferably on the nvidea side

Zach, what is a good budget cpu for recording and streaming while gaming? (Prefer intel)
Ty bro
Does it matter if I have a white case with all black components aesthetically
I plugged my deepcool PSU which is rated at 16A 250V into a 16A 240V extension plug. Do you think it will cause any problems?
Or use a multimeter to make sure they are wired the same
Can you recommend a low-budget PSU with 500-650W?
Are there any good ARGB cable extensions you reccomend?
I need a cheap 800w psu from amazon at less than £100. Semi modular would be ideal. What should i get?
Any idea where to find Corsair AX750 cables as Corsair no longer makes them?
Zach sir please answer this question-which aio is good for 7700x
What do you think about combining a ryzen 5 7600 non x with an rtx 4070 super?
What’s better, rtx 2080ti or rtx 4060
Please upvote so zack can see
A 4060 is going to be better due to nvidias new ray tracing and ai technology still both great cards though
2080Ti is on par and trades blows with the 4060Ti in terms of raw performance while the 4060 has access to newer features.
2080 ti for raster
4060 If ya beileve in DLSS 3 thing
Day 6 I want to get a laptop which can run games like fortnite or valorant at about 90 fps but in a budget what would u recommend
Can I use a PC normally then buy extension cables in the future for better aesthetics? Or is it a bad idea because the PSU has been used?
should i upgrade from my FX-4100 with a 4090 to a 7950x3d or wit for zen 5 or get a 13900ks(intel calls them 14900k)
😮im using a 750watt rn but i bought an 1000watt psu and i have no clue where i put it
What gpu would you recommend for a ryzen 7 5700g and 16gb of ram on 1080p gaming?
