If you hold your nimble/aim button (right click) while moving through the trees they won't slow you down or tear your clothing, as it cancels that weird walking through tree animation, although unless you have a high nimble level you'll still be walking slower that the zombs just not as slow as the tree animation makes you
Got like, four hundred hours in this game but still always been terrible at losing zombies. Just used this on my Murdaugh playthrough, dragging them all off the main road into the forest on the west side and it's worked pretty well. Thank you!
I thought i was the only one lol. Got about 130 hours, and I still get killed almost every time i try to fight more then 15/20. Feels like i havent improved at all. Can be very frustrating.
I craft a campfire kit, place it down near the horde area, put enough fuel in it to last for a few hours, round up the zombies by shouting and shooting and then I lead them to the campfire, running just ahead of them to light it. If you keep circling the horde, they'll catch themselves on fire. It should go without saying that you'll want to do this in an open area so you don't ignite buildings. Also check the weather report beforehand. You don't want all your efforts going to waste if it starts raining. Is it a cheesy way to play? Maybe. But you're one against thousands, and sometimes you just gotta watch the world burn.
This is 5 months old but you can pair this with 2 cars and sitting in a seat blocked by the other car, and zombies can't get to you, so you just have to wait as they burn and all die
if you use right click and walk to option in the forest, your character will automatically avoid any trees while walking so it can be useful to either get in or out of the forest fast. just click walk to and the pathfinding will do the rest, even if you're sprinting

Yeah it is a lot of fun and i do have a video coming out soon about becoming the whispers and walking amongst the dead :) The most efficient way to clear when you are confident is just blast your way through!
This tutorial is good, however I do want to mention to anyone out there that zombie migration is a thing. Whilst you may have moved them. This method is a temporary solution. Some amount of them will move back to where you got them from because of how the game works with migration. A better more long term method of this, would be to get in a car (Maybe a throw away car, one that you don't care if it breaks) and honk around the general area you want to clear. Once a big horde comes and it becomes no longer safe to use the car, hop out, and start rounding them up in a ball like shown in this video. Once they are all grouped up, take a Molotov cocktail, and throw it into the ball of zombies. This is basically like the method shown in the video, but with a bit of fire. And if you do it right, you can completely avoid having to directly kill any zombies, and avoid getting exerted. Hope this helps. (this method also works really well if you have zombie respawn off as the area you cleared is basically guaranteed safe for the rest of the playthrough, not accounting for zombie migration of course.)

maybe you could burn the forest? simply leading them away doesn't seem like a definitive solution, there's zombie migration and the chopper event, etc, plus this would restrain your ability to use guns near this places when outside zombies migrate in and definately restrain your ability to do this process again, as if you go into that forest a second time you would be screwed. But its a cool technique anyway so great video!
Yeah you could burn the forest but then you have a forest fire on your hand and that can get out of hand very quickly so that may not be an amazing way to do it. Yeah its not a definitive solution it’s more of a just quickly move them method! But yeah its a technique you can only really use a few times in 1 area ect :)

What I like to is get a fast car and then just honk and drive around circles and lure them away. Its safer but you will need a car and fuel... But after a few days you should have a car and fuel so yeah. Then when you have a scrap car or a damaged car you dont care about come back and run them over...
Another good tactic is to find a sacrificial vehicle with a siren, set it blaring, drive around slowly (and carefully, so as not to get swamped by zombies or stuck) rounding up all of the zombies into a huge horde before slowly leading them out of town like some kind of sick Pied Piper of the undead. Then just before you get to wherever you want to lead them to, speed up a bit to put a bit of distance between you and them, exit the vehicle with the engine running and the siren still blaring, and just run away leaving the vast horde gathered around your decoy which will not only keep them there for ages but will also lure in any others nearby. Or at that point if you're not bothered about losing the loot, you can lob a molotov cocktail into them before you run off, leaving the fire to cleanse their foulness from the Earth.
the problem with the "just lead them somewhere else" method is that a lot can go wrong. you can run into another horde in front of you and get cornered (thats happened to me before,) a zombie could pop out in the trees and bite you, some of the horde can break off and go elsewhere, and on top of that they could just inhabit another area that you plan on looting later, or just come back. its not solving the problem, youre just making it so you have to deal with it later MY preferred method is the "campfire" strategy. find a big open field, light a campfire there, and lure all the zombies over the fire. walk around them for a few in game hours, and theyll be reduced to ash. problem gone.
one thing: you mentioned zombies inside not being attracted to you, which may be the case but zomboid also has a feature where it spawns zombies in a building when you enter it for the first time
Great guide. Perhaps you should do a comparison for kiting vs manslaughter mode and show which scenarios they are more viable to use? It could be handy for beginners who need to understand basic zombie behavior.

I said that you can do this repeatedly however to be wary of the zombie filled forest. I also said that you should wait a long time before you go back through that forest as migration and meta events will pull them apart and disperse them
I try same think on sprinters and ye.. Its work but you need hold shift when going around place you cleaning up but in moment you going to Forest you can just walk(they keep falling by trees)
I like to do this in a car with a gun. I keep shooting out the window and drive down one road staying on one side of the road. Kite them far far away turn around and drive like a mad man to lose them. If there are more you just keep doing it.

i just use Molotovs or Shotguns with silencers with a mod i think and i clear them out, or i light a campfire get a vehicle infront the house with the driver facing the wall and you start calling them and they wont be able to get to you while your in the driver seat and they will all die eventually due to catching fire and if you want you can leave the windows open and shoot them

IMO this is neat, but only really works on medium to low pop. in high pop servers most likely there will be zombies coming out of the woods so the woods are not your friend, so walking into the woods is NOT safe.
3:40 - From there lead them North a bit, throw a molotov North, lead them south west, molotov west, then South East, molotov, then head East as you lose them and throw molotov near original entry point and leave. Then you've cleared the area and burnt/killed many Z's that you won't have to deal with later (by migration). 1: Area Cleared 2: Killed Zombies 3: Glorious Fiery Bonfire Always thought it a pity you can't pour a trail of gasoline that you can spark! :(
I have run around for half a real world hour trying to gather zombies together into a group to lose them all at once. Only for small groups of 10-30 to just randomly decide to stop following me, path back to their original spots, and ruin the entire process.
Ive tried this so many times and 2 things always happen. 1 i keep running into more and more zombies. Even in the woods. They start coming from everywhere and i cant shake them. A few stick on me and the noise they make ends up drawing in more. The other problem is after enough time spent trying to ditch the stragglers that i have. The original group wonders back to their starting area.
Zomboid easier than everybody thinks, i do this from when i started playing. I just figured out, i can out walk them. and then i walked trough muldrough
@@Noughtical sounds great! I've been actually waiting for project zomboid to be finally optimized since the polygons look so simple enough that it can run relatively similar on low end devices, but I didn't reconsider the amount of detail in the textures especially the zeds.
@@mariangabrael373 I think it's also because of the nature of 2D isometric games where it works with 'Tiles' each tile with texture and a level of depth. The game basically have to repaint the tile multiple times which is where the issue lies and is what's going to be addressed in their coming performance patch. And yes, it's much more complicated than that but that's my dumbest way of explaining why the performance of the game is how it is lmao apologies
Yep that’s a good summary of what’s going wrong with the current system the devs have put in place. They have changed it and it is looking much better and running far smoother, looking forward to the update!
Yeah its a great method and yeah it would work with a car, you would attract more though with the horn and it would be harder to then escape easily as the car itself still makes noise so you have to worry about breaking line of sight and also making sure they wont follow the sound of your engine straight back to you
If you gonna spend this much time gathering zombies you might as well prepare a campfire and burn them down. Losing line of sight only makes them a future you problem.

By honestly is far more horrible to have zombies wondering in forest for me😅 imagine you have to go setup hunting traps in forest then zombies start pop out from trees one and another.
Dont wanna be a hater but legit this is the biggest nothing burger ever. 10 mins just to say "Hey just round them up, run away until you lose them" thats legit what everyone at the start of the game does, i was thinking this was gonna have a cool new strategy or something not just run away and break line of sight lol. Not all players know this and I have had tones and tones of positive feedback on this video and new players saying it has helped. the best way to move in the forest is to use the "move to" command. The character perfectly bypasses (runs around) trees.
Yep that also works too thats probably the best way to get around in a forest!
That's why I use Standardized nimble EXP mod. In half of the month you can hit lvl 10 nimble with just a bit of grinding. Truly a great mod
Yeah mods which overhaul the nimble skill and other ones such as fitness and strength are some of my favourite!

This is just how it would work in real life too. No matter how cheesy the game is about survival.
And then you break the window to get into the gas station and set off the alarm and they all come back. Or at least that's been my experience.

A massive warning though: Mind the time of day and when you will be tired. Do not aim very far if you think you won't be able to make it back in time.

Click Auto walking (or press Y) will automatically avoid trees while walking, without the risk of hurt yourself by trees brands

Dont wanna be a hater but legit this is the biggest nothing burger ever. 10 mins just to say "Hey just round them up, run away until you lose them" thats legit what everyone at the start of the game does, i was thinking this was gonna have a cool new strategy or something not just run away and break line of sight lol. But idk maybe i expected too much
Some players know more than others, this is very much a beginners tutorial on how to easily do this ya know? Not all players know this and I have had tones and tones of positive feedback on this video and new players saying it has helped. Sorry it wasn’t the video for you but people are at different skill and knowledge levels
