I read Calvin's institutes years ago and by far it was was that which most codified my understanding of God. And listening and reading RC Sproul for 30 years has given me a sure foundation. thanks Ligonier ministries

“For the Arminian, salvation is possible for all but certain for none. In the Calvinist position, salvation is sure for God’s elect.”

@Elevated Harmony If my life wasn't changed I would be very concerned.

@Elevated Harmony The good Lord. If I had no proof I'd be worried.

@Elevated Harmony We are supposed to bear fruit. We are commanded to put off the old man. A changed life is proof of salvation. We aren't supposed to do the things we used to do. We should have new desires, and we have to fight the good fight every day to maintain our fellowship with God. "I will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me." -Jeremiah 32:40 If you have a fear of the Lord you won't walk in the flesh very long. You'll be seriously convicted, and you'll repent, and ask God for help. May God continue to pour our his grace upon you, brother.

From "Mr. Calvinist" himself. RC is not talking about works.

Elevated Harmony Here he is talking about “Lordship salvation” and the “carnal Christian”. ua-cam.com/video/jhgBuHVDtmA/v-deo.html God bless you.

I read "the Institutes of the Christian Religion" and just shook my head. He would start off on a subject biblically, then veer off track into feeding his assumptions about that subject that are not backed by God's Word.

Grace Worth Fighting For: Recapturing the Vision of the Canons of Dort ( Daniel Hyde). Rev. Hyde is a 259 point Calvinist. 37 articles of the Belgic Confession and 129 questions of the Heidelberg Catechism. There aren't 5 propositions that you can pick from cafeteria-style.

    You have a choice!!
    Deuteronomy 30:19
19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now "choose" life, so that you and your children may live

His name was Jean Calvin not John...

But the problem that I and so many others have is that you are left with a God who creates man, give him no choice and then punishes in Hell for an eternity! It seems that such a view is to make God the epitome of evil ? I have never been able to believe that the nature of God would allow him to do such. I'm sorry to say, but the comments below of anyone who disagrees with you have shown me a hatred that is not very becoming of the "elect". I actually believe that the true Calvinist believers are part of the body of Christ, but when you attack others so viciously...it makes me wonder what is wrong with your walk with God.

@Elevated Harmony Do you deny the doctrine of original sin? Where does faith come from?

    • @1920s
      @1920s 5 років тому

Elevated Harmony Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
      -James 2:17-20

Elevated Harmony You’re the only one on here I’ve seen boasting. Explain to us again how you go out and witness to people. I don’t have a high enough opinion of you yet.

Elevated Harmony Titus 3 says that people that believe will devote themselves to good works. “The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.”

Elevated Harmony No Calvinist believes good works saves you. None. It’s the exact opposite of what they believe.

    Calvin was depraved!
    RC was highly overrated.

Calvinism is right up there with the catholicism when it comes to wicked doctrines. Calvinism expects you to not believe what you read in the Bible, Jesus died for the world and I feel kinda bad for anyone caught up in a calvinist church.
