And then they did, and we got that end shot, and I Just started fucking screaming.
I NEVER get this way from watching shows, yet there I was.
me too mate! I never really scream so much just because of a show(except maybe carmilla) or maybe be smitten over a hand grip and a romantic eye to eye gaze until now!
I just love how everyone is so against Makorra XD
We've all gone through 2 seasons of Makorra and bringing it back would have left a bad taste in our mouths.
For me, Mako was a pushover and a cheat. Makorra would cheat all of the fans (and especially young girls) out of the honesty of Korra's character and integrity of being an individual not dependent on a romantic partner who's betrayed that individual before. I certainly didn't expect it, partially because of the "hetero lens" Bryan describes and partially because I'm convinced women and girls can be especially close but still not gay. Seriously, though, it was beautiful. I certainly shed a few tears!
EternalDiarrhea So by that logic, i think they purposely made mako set up to fail so they could ship korrasami. Which i think is a cheap shot at fame.
I'm not sure what you mean by "fame"...? I don't think Mako as a character set out to hurt others. He went out of his way to avoid conflict and in doing so accomplished the opposite. When characters are written to be complex and flawed like Mako, they aren't just a cheap plot device. Real people aren't inherently bad and make mistakes, and Bryke captured that humanity brilliantly with Mako's decisions and growth. I don't know where you think there is some black and white "logic" behind what I said, just simple analysis and explanation for the way *I* feel about Makorra and how THAT would be a cheap, played-out ploy that wouldn't be true to Bryke's authentic and non-lazy writing.
Refer to above comment. I'm pretty sure i explained it. Using Makorra as a plot device for Korrasami was what they did in book 2 since this is when they planted the seeds for that relationship. I just figured it would have been easier to leave mako out and have them develop the relationship since that was their intention all along. And by "fame" i mean make this show (in some way, shape, or form) top Last Airbender. How do you do this? Pull a stunt at the last 10 seconds of the last episode knowing it will stir some kind of controversy. So now people are gonna say Korra was better than Last Airbender based on the last 10 seconds of the last episode and not the whole shows merit.

Since the last episode of Korra streamed, I have seen many positive and negative reactions to Korrasami. As a heterosexual male I find it interesting how many of the "haters" are males who probably enjoy lesbian porn. Yet they show such resistance to the concept of a strong lead female character in a "children's" cartoon preferring to be with a woman over a male character. I have seen comment's along the lines of "I don't want my children to be exposed to this." What's "this"? You don't want your child to be exposed to love and tolerance? I don't have children of my own I do have a young cousin who watches the cartoon. What I would like her to get from Korrasami that it is ok to find happiness and love in another girl. That it is ok to let love happen and to be happy with whoever you want to be happy with.

I didn't cry while watching the finale, but I weep in joy every time I see how much it emotionally touched other fans.
I feel you. I've personally never been that invested in this show but for some reason it deeply touches my heart when i see the emotional reactions from these people.
I love the guy who was just like 'korrasami!' throughout the whole thing. xD

you can see in some of these people's faces how much this means to them its seriously making me tear up again because that ending wasnt just about the end of a series or making a ship offical, it was also about something that many of us never dreamed could come this close to happening in a show like this because so many people deem people like us and our relationships "inappropriate to children". And while we may have not gotten a kiss, they made it clear what the intention was (especially how their pose reflected the couple who had just gotten married minutes earlier) and that is so so amazing. i almost cried when i found out this happened (i hadnt quite finished the season yet so it was spoiled but thats okay) because people like me were being represented in an animated show ---in something I love. I ended up shedding some tears too when I read what the creators had written about the ending and the endgame of Korrasami, how they really are bisexual, and that this wasn't queer bating they honestly pushed and got as close as they possibly could while still being allowed to air the episode to showing these two together. and that means so so so much to me and so many other people.
LOK may have its flaws, but that ending there was almost perfect.
I have never seen a full episode of this show (yet!) but I've been reading so much about it everywhere lately and have been thoroughly enjoying the reactions, oh my god.
That said, it brings so much joy to my heart that this even happened on a 'kids' show, I know that my little sister (when she was younger) would have given anything to see representation like this while she was growing up to help her accept herself and realise that her existence is valid in a society that constantly denies it and tells her that she's wrong. Hopefully it'll pave the way for a more open hearted world and hopefully eventually rid of the ridiculous notion that people of the same gender falling in love is for some reason considered ~risque~ and ~inappropriate~ for a children's cartoon.

We don't really choose who we fall in love with, it's not a conscious decision. For that reason alone I don't see why things like gender or age have anything to do with it as long as the two people involved are capable of reasoning. I hope you little sister has overcome the trouble society imposes on her.
I've watched this show from beginning to end, as well as its predecessor "The Last Airbender" and I'm really glad they approached a variety of good topics such as this. It's something the new generations need to see and they're filled with valuable lessons that have real life applications (direct quote from Book 2: "If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.")
Nickelodeon obviously disagrees with me judging by the fact that they alloted the Legend of Korra progressively worse time slots before removing it from TV altogether. But in the end, I am confident that good will prevail. We have the power, it's in our hands.
The show isnt even aired on television. I wouldn't consider it a kids show with the amount of violence it has. Although the pure beauty the ending of this show surpasses anything i could have imagined. I cant wait for whats to come.
Go'el It was aired since Book 1 until about halfway through Book 3 on Nickelodeon. Then they decided to remove it from TV entirely and stream it online.
Also, I've seen other cartoons currently being aired by Nick. It's not that violent in comparison and at least it sends a good message to the kids.
Go'el Book 4 aired on NickToons as the episodes neared the climax. There was also did a marathon. So yes, the last two episodes were on television; I DVR'd them. And I am happy to say that the ending seen online was not altered for television. ^_^

There's tears in people's eyes because homosexual relationships never win. They're always imagined by the fans or a joke to the writers or kept out of children's shows because the idea of it has been fetishized by adults. And now it's here- tasteful, and developed, and REAL.
And there's tears in other people's eyes because yet another heterosexual couple didn't make it. ONE ship out of their probably dozens of canonized couples didn't make it. They have no idea how it feels to have 100% of their ships be fictional stretches of canon friendships because no one has the balls to step up and represent. You're throwing a bitchfit over ONE couple? You're heartbroken over ONE not making it? Try all of them since you were a child. Try ALL of them. Try taking a step back and imagining that, while korrasami shippers enjoy this single victory- one that wasn't even allowed a kiss because of the arbitrary moral values of this bigotted society.
Maybe you aren't hating on it because it's gay- but you could CERTAINLY go watch any other show and pick out a pairing that has a chance at success. Go do that. Let the Korrasami shippers have this- and let the LGBT people have a chance to breath.

The final and reactions always makes me cry, it’s not even really the scene, It just makes me feel a lot more accepted as a lesbian, because even though they couldn’t add a kiss, the relationship is still canon and that’s a huge step
Those last five thumb piano notes and the moment they take each other's hand will send chills up my spine and move me to tears forever.
This apart from being a shocking and beautiful ending to the series, goes to show that all kinds of people, no matter age or skin color can unite in their love for something. And to be honest when Kristronuovo fell out of her chair I really laughed my ass off.
This is amazing on so many levels I don't even have the words... Thank you Mike and Bryan thank you so much. For all this love and acceptance. For creating two characters that where so amazing in their own right, and developed so much. Yet fit so well together. They just happened to be girls and I'm so glad you went ahead with it anyway. Even though it was a "kids show"

Oh, and it is more like a teen cartoon, they pulled this show from tv because it was too graphic for children. But the majority of their fan base is 16+, mostly teens just beginning to enter their twenties.

I have to admit, I needed a little time to get behind Korrasami, not out of homophobia mind you, this last season I really fell in love with the friendship they developed, I swore the people routing for romance were just reading too much into things. In the end, anybody could be right or wrong, the ambiguity helps ease things for everyone I believe. But nobody can deny the finale does possess a progressive message, much respect and love for Bryan and Mike for this.

What I like about this is how there is actual development to their relationship it wasn't done just out of the blue. Like how they recently made Iceman gay in the xmen comics for no reason except for diversity. They didn't make Korra bisexual out of nowhere they built it up which is nice although in subtle ways because nickelodeon would of killed them if they where more obvious about it. Anyways I like this most times they make a character gay it's random and out of character and I hate it not because their gay but because there was no development and instead just becomes a gimmick to get people's attention.

I think it really drives home the significance of this moment that the Korrasami ending could make so many different people all react in such a way. There's probably not a lot of other TV show events that could.
The finale was incredible in every possible way already, and then they just went and made TV history to cap it all off. I just cannot believe something as amazing as this show exists. :')

It feels so surreal because it seemed like a pairing that, at the time, came out of nowhere (though it didn't) and that Nickelodeon wouldn't have allowed it! But it HAPPENED!

I didn't think to tape my reaction to reading the last chapter of Naruto, and I regretted it... now regret that I didn't record my reaction to this finale of the ATLA-verse series. I was on the edge of my seat most of the finale; I gasped out loud and burst into tears when Hiroshi, a character I'd never expected to care about again, got swatted; I laughed out loud when Bolin shoulder-checked that guy off his feet; I was amazed by Korra and Kuvira's showdown; I was terrified and awed when Mako had his heroic stand; I cheered when Korra tanked that supercharged blast from the spirit weapon. But this last scene... I was jumping up, crying, and finally left with a contented smile on my face that lasted even after the credits had rolled.
But I guess in the end it's not saving my reactions that mattered, so no sense in regretting it now. What matters is the journey getting here, and the great experience growing up with these two shows has given me :')
