Starting On My YZ250 Engine Build! Part 6

  • In today's video, I begin on my YZ250 Two-stroke engine build. I will start off with Cerakoting the cases in an awesome satin aluminum color and then I install brand new bearings from Wrench Rabbit. After this, the Rocky Mountain transmission kit is installed and a new brand Hot Rods crank is pulled into the cases. The plan for the engine is to be extremely powerful with an enduro/ desert racing twist on the build. (Hopefully, it looks amazing as well.)

    Couple tips coming from someone who’s been building engines for a long time. Hot rods bearings are not very good. It looks like you didn’t add line to the bearings, and NEVER put the seals in before you put the shaft through unless you have to but on yzs you can get the crank cases together before you install any seals

    • @KoltFin
      @KoltFin 5 років тому

      Most youtubers use hotrods because they get the parts for free aka a sponsorship. And they are just going to sell the bike so long term durability isn't at the top of their list.

      One tip for removing old seals, tape an entire sheet of sand paper to a piece of glass, marble, or a mirror and move the piece you want to sand on top of it. It will keep your surfaces more “true and even”.

      Make sure to have a service manual and do your research. The better you understand how the different mechanical systems work the easier it's to diagnose issues with a bike.
