Great to see A39r in the new livery plus getting it started. It was the last one I worked as 039 in march 1995 but you never forget the workings having worked so many of them and the odd Cr. Well done to all concerened. It was my 3rd visit to Downpatrick , a lot has changed since i came there in 2010.
I grew up beside the line in Shankill, South County Dublin. Those engines were the sound of my childhood. There was an ammonia train from Arklow used to run through in the middle of the night. Sometimes it was headed by a coupled 121 and 141. You could here their GM rumble from miles off.
