In 1986 when I was 17 and a senior in HighSchool...this was my anthem album and song...I can still remember driving my old 1979 CJ-5 Jeep with the top off with a [glass] bottle of mountain Dew between my knees [no cup holders!] driving into the countryside [Umpqua Valley, Oregon] to see my beautiful RedHeaded Girlfriend......sigh
Not enough that Tom is a brilliant artist with a biblical voice and a music that only few can match, he is a cool dude. And just yet another brilliant Canadian artist with exceptional brilliance. Just love to listen to his songs.
My mom used to play this song in the car everywhere we went when i was little. I forgot about this song for a couple years, then while looking at young photos this song hit me, i had to look it up. I'm 16. c:
Yeah, Awesome. It takes me back to '89 when I saw him in BC Place Stadium as the warm up act for Rod Stewart. Lets just say Rod came off second best. For those who don't know it, check out his CD "The Symphony Sessions". Truly the best live album you will ever hear. It will blow you away...!
The best song by the best artist, no competition. Its one of those songs that really makes you feel... only a select few masterpeices can make me do that.
I grew up in Canada, but have lived in Asia for the last 10 years and met folks from all over the world. I go back and listen to VERY solid music like this and thank GOD I grew up with Canuck music (not yankee doodle or brit or whathaveyou), not the ol shit that guys from all over the rest of the world had to grow up with!!!
"Now I have just turned thirty one, and I have lost and I have won. Still I kept my dreams alive, cause the boy will never die." Could be more true for me. Fact is I have just turned thirty one and I am keeping my dreams alive cause the boy in me will never die! It has more meaning and truth to me than it did at thirty. An inspireing song to me since I was thirteen. Rock on Tom!
I've seen Tom Cochrane years ago in Brandon, MB, (with Kim Mitchell) and I saw him again last year at Capital EX in Edmonton. Tom can still rock. I've loved his music for over the past 20+ years.
In regards to the last comment, I couldn't agree more. I too am a Canuck living overseas, grew up on Canadian rock, country, etc. Canadian music has an unique edge. Half the music on my ipod is still Canadian. Tom Cochrane rocks.
The Canadians have it made in that he still performs up yonder. He doesn't get down to our midwest state of Wisconsin too often. Thanks for posting these videos for some of die-hard, starving fans down in Yankeeville.
The U.S. sure missed the boat on T.C. "Life Is A Highway" as the only big hit as a solo? Red rider is most known for "Lunatic Fringe." Even Adult Contemporary could have played some of his greats (i.e. ~ "Stonecutters Arms," this song, "Boy Inside The Man," and some of the great acoustic versions of his stuff off the "Songs of a Circling Spirit" CD. Not even iTunes is up to date on his catalog.
F uckin rights this is a great song!!!! i havent heard this since i was a little kid growin up 2 tha sheit....... i wont use alternative vulgar voices but i wont get bannedd bcuz im drinkin, this is a good song, im gonna see this guy in pemberton best........or w/e the hell its called

The older I get the more I appreciate Tom Cochrane's music.
I couldn't agree more. Canadians make some damn good music!!!

I agree. I wonder if relations between the two countries are starting to sour.
good song
Yes it was. Sung by Marty Ross
Good Song \m/
7 people don't have a Boy Inside The Man
Tom is great. Please leave the boss out of this.
@106542 well some of the songs are good but the 80's is where it's at
why does Tom Cochrane look like Haley Wickenheiser....just an observation. Both Canadian heroes.
You're from BC? You play much of the gentleman's sport of rugby?
wasn't this a New Monkees song circa 1986?
@TomFromJersey certainly does lol
@edwardlover88 Couldn't have said it any better myself. =)
and that dude mikepower87 is right also.
Anyone think he looks like Bill Pullman?
dudes... this video's the shiznit aint it?
@TomFromJersey mixed with a bit of martin sheen and i can see it haha
F uckin rights this is a great song!!!!

He's more like the Candian Petty (to me, anyways)
But what does it mean?
dude below me is right
limewire is better: )
or John Mellencamp both Petty and Mellencamp are better than Springsteen anyways
