Suranne Jones makes some of the best facial expressions on this show. That plus her deadpan, no-nonsense delivery of some of her lines sometimes has me in stitches. 😅
The scene where Marian is telling Ann Walker's aunt that Anne L. likes the company of older women because are more interesting (to flatter the aunt) but then fumbles with saying "Of course Anne enjoys the company of younger women, too, obviously.". That was hysterical.
Podcasters (USA X3) laugh at this particular scene, and manage to replicate fairly well. I assume they used subtitling. I'm just caught up with season 1 reviews, podcasts etc. The other they like is Amy at the pigpen saying "no - ah knoo" to Tom "he hasn't got sixpence".
"He's going to kill Marian." "Oh well." Brilliant. 💖🌹 I absolutely adore this show and Suranne, Sally, and everyone and everything involved with this series.
The bit that really got me was "I just went there to study anatomy" followed by the immediate cut to her having gay sex in Paris. I saw it coming but the payoff is PRICELESS. (yes, I had to comment again there are just too many good funny parts😂)
Another funny scene: when Anne L is talking to the nasty Rawson brother about how his mother likes her, and AL says "She likes me. She always has." and lifts her eyebrows suggestively - SO funny.
Love when AL greets Capt Sutherland on episode 8 S2. "No, don't get up" whilst he starts to rise from floor playing with son. Then she grabs his hand and yanks him up unexpectedly throwing him off balance in undignified stumble. Excellent.
You missed the little girl at sunday school asking Mrs. Lister, as she spieled about Euclid: "What's all that got to do with Jesus though, sir?" Top notch delivery😂
You forgot the scene when she’s reading the letter from Ann about them playing Hearts and said her father is more competitive than her and Anne is like “uhhh no he’s not”. LOLLL
I would love to see the outtake on the railways and cows, I’m sure Sophie was laughing. This is one of many reasons why this a brilliant series and why we need series 3+
The ALBW site on UA-cam had an interview with Sally Wainwright on 9 July 2022 asking what comes next for GJ. There will be a targeted campaign set out there in the next few days for fans to engage with, if they want to, to contact other streamers who might consider funding another series with the BBC, if there is enough interest. The Look Out Team are actively looking for another backer too, now that HBO are no longer interested. Please spread the word.
There might be if we demand it hard enough by signing the petition, writing letters and emails to HBO and other potential streaming platforms, and tagging them on social media
What utter crap! It's not a comedy in any way shape or form! This programme is a drama, it's about a woman's life! A real woman, living through a crap, male suppressing life! And thriving! This is woman's history! It just has commic moments, as does life! Can't you tell this title, was probably written by an ego!
I've read much of the diaries and 4 books, and in many scenes, the text is straight from the diaries. There are a couple of dramatized scenes that were added. But, overall, from all that I have read, it seems like it follows the diaries extensively.
"I can walk everywhere in 25minutes" Spoken like a true gay 🤣 also "The cow exploded" scene was gold 🤣🤣
"The bastard" is the one that really got me. 🤣
That was great!!
Me too and love the one about the exploding cow. I’m sure Sophie was laughing between takes.
😂 love it 😂

"They're all a bit scared of you, aren't they?"
"Why?" she asks, loading her gun as they speak😂 brilliant
You missed the iconic 'It's not illegal' bit with the thermometer!
Love that scene
That’s what I was waiting for!
My favourite laugh out loud moment!
I laughed out loud at that scene
Great splice!
I especially loved this:
Anne: "If or when I die."
Marianne: "If?"
😂😂😂
The scene where Marian is telling Ann Walker's aunt that Anne L. likes the company of older women because are more interesting (to flatter the aunt) but then fumbles with saying "Of course Anne enjoys the company of younger women, too, obviously.". That was hysterical.
and the aunt saying 'Marian, you are naive."
"We'er fettlin't cart!"
Spreading true Yorkshire dialect across the world . . .
That’s what he says?! I couldn’t make it out.
Subtitles show it (BBC) although may still need explanation. Fettling means "fixing" or "sorting out". The father says fettling moments earlier.
Wow thanks for clarifying that. I always thought the kid said "a fat legged cart" haha.

This proves Sally Wainwright's a genius. She always adds those little touches.
The "flashback" scene of Anne in a lodging house with soliders until 3 in the morning.
"Good lord. That was a while since."
The bit that really got me was "I just went there to study anatomy" followed by the immediate cut to her having gay sex in Paris. I saw it coming but the payoff is PRICELESS.

"It is an old farm" 🐄 *muhhh* love it 🤣

The Lister sisters are fantastic in any scene together . Gemma Whelan doesn't even need to speak.
Gemma is hilarious in Killing Eve also 😊
You should’ve added the part where Marian says Anne likes all ladies 😂😂
When Mr. Abbott calls her Aunt elderly I died lol
You missed the little girl at sunday school asking Mrs. Lister, as she spieled about Euclid: "What's all that got to do with Jesus though, sir?" Top notch delivery😂
Aunt Anne..."it must have made a mess" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mariana- "My dearest....."
Anne- "....Anne"
🤣🤣🤣
The cow exploding is so funny, love this series.
You forgot the scene when she’s reading the letter from Ann about them playing Hearts and said her father is more competitive than her and Anne is like “uhhh no he’s not”. LOLLL
I loved that too!
0:12 I'm so glad you included this because I love this scene sm😭😭
I come back to this from time to time. I miss GJ.
OMG!😱😱 when you get married your eyebrows thicken 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A veritable deluge of English comic wit. I feel dry & refreshed now. Cheers!
The series that has everything
“I'm a lady...a woman... A lady woman”
I would love to see the outtake on the railways and cows, I’m sure Sophie was laughing. This is one of many reasons why this a brilliant series and why we need series 3+

I love the exploding cow, I think Sophie was laughing between takes.
Brilliant series ❤️
I hope that there's more " Gentleman Jack" to come
I’m pissed off they stopped the series. They left us hanging at episode eight.
Marian was also really well played in this. One can barely see her GOT character in her.
Great show!
She's in GoT???
@@TalairanPerigord Yes a very formidable warrior pirate type
@@justinwilliams7290 Thank you!
And in killing Eve!
"I barely know where to look" 😂
There is just too many good funny parts in this series 😅
Try not to lose any more colonies captain 😅😅😅

Season 3 please!!!!!!!
Unfortunately it's been cancelled.
Me declaro enamorada de la srta Lister ❤❤😍😍😍😍
Theres not gonna be another season. My heart is sad.
There might be if we demand it hard enough by signing the petition, writing letters and emails to HBO and other potential streaming platforms, and tagging them on social media
It is funny. Its class too.
The first episode of season two was a wild ride for me even for Anne’s standards!
brilliant
Thanks to HBO for giving us 2 seasons of Anne Lister/Suranne Jones. Unique and wonderful and not seen by enough people.
I love Miss Norclof i don't know how to spell it 😂 but she's amazing also the fact that she had another lesbian friend was amazing
Show was brilliant and grown-up. Naturally they cancelled it.
..and Marian..fix her..when splash from plat..
You need to brush your teeth. Looks at camera. Brilliant
Sure it is.
Being born and raised in Connecticut, the colonial line always makes me laugh.
what are they eating
Haha the whole generation of young people that don't know that yes a dead cow can explode
😜

I read the diaries years ago - this production doesn't follow the true story one
It did for the first few episodes, the rest is fantasy .
The vast bulk of the diary material was not available in print, "years ago". Did you read the manuscripts?
I've read much of the diaries and 4 books, and in many scenes, the text is straight from the diaries. There are a couple of dramatized scenes that were added. But, overall, from all that I have read, it seems like it follows the diaries extensively.
