out of all the HBO shows this one in particular deserves better, can't believe it got cancelled. I wish it gets picked up by another platform/network not only has great photography but the cast is marvelous!
I was feeling unease when first started watching this series, I am a straight women who while not homophobic was more indifferent with a live and let live attitude. Now I am hooked completely and after my initial unease with certain scenes I am comfortable .When I found out that this series was based on a true character, well I could not stop researching and realizing what a strong, independent, fascinating , intellectual, inspiring woman she was. I am beyond upset that HBO is pulling out of the series . BBC said they hoped to find another streaming company to partner with them so the series can have a season 3. Hope it happens.
Series 2 is even better than series 1. The acting by all, especially by the main characters is excellent. The scenery, costumes, the feel of that time, etc., is wonderful. BBC at their best again!!
It's ok for a man to be fortune hunter lol. Mariana is like my ex; she once said I wish you to be happy. I laughed and said NO YOU DON'T She then laughed too.
Reactionary, bourgeois feminism has a long history. I very much enjoyed this series, and went in wanting to like Lister. Unfortunately, it seems her motivations and actions had little to do w/ rights, equality, or justice, and more to do w/ satisfying her own ego-desires--this was confirmed again and again throughout the series.
As reflected in her journal she did start to revise some of her views as she got older esp. where women's rights were concerned. We judge others in their time from the perch of our time.
The series covers only 2 years of her life. Reading the actual diaries provides a lot more nuance to her views on rights and equality. She had dreams and desires of what she wanted to accomplish in life. They weren't just "ego desires". As far as women's rights, her evolving views are nuanced and related to other aspects of restrictions placed on women. For example, Lister pursued "higher education" related studies to an extreme, arranging to get private tutoring and lessons from experts in various fields. Due to her passion for traveling and studying with elite scientists in Paris and other cities, she viewed herself as more educated than the majority of women, which was true. She did talk about issues affecting women, such as women not having the right to vote. Whether she was or was not a big advocate for that, the fact that the majority of women in those times were not educated beyond a very minimal level is tied into it. Most women were not a match for her intellectually in terms of discussion and that is one reason she avoided going to most parties, as she didn't enjoy the conversations. She did fight for justice for some of her tenants, at various times. Her biggest contribution to "rights" was not really gender related, but fighting to live her life the way she wanted, without conforming to societal expectations or rules.
The scenery the houses and interiors, costumes characters and acting...an absolute triumph ..my favourite series for quite a while.
This show and the actresses involved *deserve* Emmy attention!
YES! Phenomenal acting, wardrobe, cinematography, chemistry, humor, drama, love, etc.

This series is soooo underrated. I literally cant wait
I sure hope there is a season 3,4&5
the summary of this season is everyone against Anne Lister and we know who doesn't have a chance to win 😂
except the Listers family! They know Anne's business with the young Ann Walker and they were supportive and like Ms. Walker
What amazing actresses. What a commitment to a part.
Loved how season 2 finale ended & I'm hoping that HBO picks up season 3.
This show is so BRILLIANT.

There is not enough detailed intimacy. It seems the love scenes are cut back
So empowering. I'm SO disappointed that they're not doing a season 3.

I laughed and said NO YOU DON'T
She then laughed too.
I love this show so much and I can't wait for more 💗
How could you cancel this show, HBO?? It was meaningful and important, let alone acted out of this world! Such an incredible let down!
These catch ups, in character, are brilliant!
season 3 please
Best thing on tv in years
PLEASE BRING THIS UNIQUE STORY BACK ¡,,,
Can't wait to see season 3 !!
I love this Show 🥰
Am I imagining things, but I kept thinking they did something different with Surana's eyebrows? P.S. This is a great show .... LOVE IT.
they made it thick, just what real Anne Lister portrait looks like
They should have kept her eyebrows consistent with the first season, imo. The difference is not attractive.
Tracy... yes... and I didn't like it one bit! She was more attractive without the yunabrow. Why change a good thing.
Hilarious when AL looks to camera .love it. 😄
season 3!season 3!season 3!season 3!season 3!We need Season 3!!!!!
Love this show to bits👍
I'm looking forward to this. Excited!
Best series I’ve seen in years! Don’t miss it!
I think that this is all about Ann Lister's revenge on Amelia Bullimore who played her boss in 'Scott and Bailey'.
Anne Lister wasn't in Scott & Bailey, Suranne Jones was.
Anne Lister would fit perfectly in another BBC series. What we do in the Shadows. Nadja and Anne perfect hunting partners.
I am looking for season 3.
Can’t Wait! When will it be available in Mexico?
Has time or should I say mouths, changed all that much today? Great writing and acting. Timely.
A fabulous woman.....!!!!!
I like this show
BRAVO!!! 😱🖤💪🏽👌✅
Will it have S3 ?
Genialidad!!! amooo gracias, por traer a Ann y Anne a la pantalla🖥️📺📱❤️ desde 🇦🇷
😎🎩👒 Perfect!
Temporada 3 🥺por favor
man, that judgmental look at 0:48
