Love her books, her life story, one lives vicariously in the scenes at her property where she could be alone to write, take care of her animals……wonderful presentation….
Oh that is lovely for you being able to retrace your steps in this exellent production. I think Beatrix had an engaging life with her stories, illustrations, mycology and a home in the Lake District.
@@jennynott3841 As I remember she was lovely, we were all primary age so it was quite overwhelming at times being under bright lights and many takes of the same scenes, but I do remember she kept us engaged in what we were doing and was kind, we had to travel in and out on the same coach as the cast on the days we were needed, I remember sitting next to John Woodvine as he had a lovely voice :)
Great stuff. The composer of the score (Carl Davis) obviously knows Stravinsky' gorgeous but little-known ballet 'Orpheus' around 11'55! And some nice Schubert in the parlour.
Always loved Beatrix Potter. From a fan in America. Like Penelope. Oh loved Tom and when the Terrier rescued Tom Kitten from the Rats. And always read her cute little books to my children when they were little. We even saw the short movies.
If she had lived in the current age, she could have moved out of her parents house much earlier than she did. It makes me a little sad to think of how they treated her, and how lonely she must have felt.. In some ways, I understand, and sympathize with her. 😢
If she lived in the current age she would have been a successful scientist. She had a talent for mycology but had trouble getting her work taken seriously. She may well never have written children's stories
thank you so much for this taste of a beautiful series! i had dl'd it on an old set of vhs at the time, but they're not good anymore. ms. wilton is amazing!
This was SUCH an excellent BBC production and I truly appreciate your posting it, especially with such good quality. My only "complaint", for lack of a better word, would be to say part one is missing. The above posted video is only the second half of the movie. Someone else has posted part one but it's very poor quality and runs in 14 minute increments.
Here's a link to the first part with an intro from Alistair Cooke - tho he gets somewhat upstaged by the rather noisy bunny 🐇 rabbits on set with him ua-cam.com/video/U-X9F-m2VlI/v-deo.html
Me alegra que hayan hecho una película basada en Beatrix Potter ya en los 80. Esta muy buena!. Con esos aires antiguos me puedo aproximar mejor a cómo fue su vida
@@eunicestone6532 Yes !!! I agree. My very Favorite story about Beatrix Potter is the DVD film "MISS POTTER" starring Renee Zellweger & Ewan McGregor. Parts show Beatrix as a little girl with many of her beautiful drawings and a truly wonderful Love Story.🥰
@@eunicestone6532 Just today I saw "Miss Potter" with R. Zellweger on TV. and I think it was the 4th time (a few years apart of course). Now this older one. Miss Potter's life is presented from different points of view. Both are still nice story, nicely made movies, good actors. Thank you.
Actually found one of her books in the local library in the section that they were selling old books. I found it's not worth much but I love it. I'm also a grown woman Lol.
Nice to see this again after all these years. Do you have the first episode? I recorded the two part production off of Masterpiece Theatre back in the 80's, but it's on Beta and that recorder hasn't worked in decades.
A nice rendition of the story, however, I feel the real secret to her success was her very privileged childhood and educational resources which were open to her. Her books were sweet but not for the poorer classes who couldn't read let alone understand words like 'departure' or 'obliged'. Her father had friends in high places like professional artists who recognised her talents like Sir John Everette Milais, a member of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood. There are plenty of other talented people in the world who could succeed just like Potter, if they had the resources and privileges she did, just my opinion.
Move out of her parent's home earlier than what she did if she had lived in current times? Wish for yourself rather than on others just so that you do not appear so judgmental.
Why does the suggestion of freedom from oppresion irritate you? Its a fact that so many women in general were forced to comply with societal convention to the day they died. Eternally submissive. If shed done what her parents desired and never defied convention, there would never have been her books. What's wrong with the commenters' observations that shed have a happier and easier time nowadays? It's the truth after all! It's blatantly evident that she strived for independence in thought and action. Why not be judgemental in cases where there's misery and injustice? Its ludicrous! Without judgement there would be no change, no evolution and no hope for anything better. Judgement is not a dirty word. It's a necessity at times.
Some wrong information is in the Renee Z version. Example she didn't know Heelis when she was growing up! Details about the details of her engagement and friendship with Norman are not correct. Lots of changes that are not true were put in this film with Renee. It is still a well done film with many facts that were changed !
How lovely to see a young Penelope Wilton as Beatrix Potter!
Downton Abbey 's Isobel Crawley
Well said I couldn’t agree more
Out standing cast! My favorite movie about Beatrix Potter.❤
I love Penelope Wilton! Would recognise her at any age. She's grand here, as usual. ❤
A botanist and mushroom genetics discoverer too, rejected by the male plant institutions....one of the greatest women!
Love her books, her life story, one lives vicariously in the scenes at her property where she could be alone to write, take care of her animals……wonderful presentation….
What a brilliant lady wish I could have known her❤
What a wonderful and sweet movie. I never knew anything about her, except her enchanting books.
Thank you for posting this excellent production. The appeal of her books is timeless, as is the story of her life. Best regards from the Ozarks USA.
They don't make programs like this today
Its a beautiful movie. Theres another Beatrix Potter movie with Rene Zellweger and Ewan McGregor.
Yes, they are both so lovely!!!
I knew she was a talented writer and illustrator, but i didnt know she was such an intelligent strong business woman on all levels.
Thanks for sharing, I was one of the children in this film but never got to see it, this has made my day ❤

Enjoyed the depth of her story for good. She chose love as she was able produced and publish stories designed for children yet pleasing for all.😊
This was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you 🦔

Apologies - the VHS I was given only had this section on it. I believe the owner had part 1 on a different tape that they had sadly lost.

Marvellous! Thank, but does it mind to have it in French please, I love these tales to death and unfortunetly
I'm not excellent in English.
Where is part 1?
Me encantan las películas de época.
Pueden subirlas en español ? Por favor .
I like Miss Potter ( 2006 ) with Renée Zellweger much better
Yes soooooo brilliant 👏
Quite a different style. This is more honest I find.
I prefer this. It has more depth and is feels more British.
