Agreed. It was BS they didn't allow him to be inducted along with Lynyrd Skynyrd, he was their first drummer & in the band , helped write songs with Ronnie, & sang lead on some songs, etc. 😒
Then you should check out Greg T Walker's band "Two Wolf". They absolutely smoke on the old Blackfoot tunes, including 'Diary Of A Workingman'. It's a shame Ricky won't reunite with the remaining three members of the original Blackfoot.....
I remember on any given night seeing Ricky with Blackfoot, Pat Travers, Molly Hatchet, members of The Outlaws, 38 Special or Rosington Collins’s playing or just hanging around Fern Park Station. What a great time to be a kid with a fake ID. I believe all those guys knew I was only 15 and let me hang out anyway but they also looked out for me. I’m so grateful to all of those guys.
I played in a band called Boulder, which warmed up Blackfoot in Prestonburg KY. around 78. We got through our set, and then they played for about 10 minutes and the power went off. Our extension cords were burning the wooden stage floor. Evacuation ensued. Our singer found $40 in a wallet that had been left behind. He's the only one who got paid
@@moparmarkstpac well hell ... I worked with most of them back then. Riggs did part of the sound track for the movie "Heavy Metal". Bradley Station moved to Cumberland Ave across from "Pickle U University" bar. Another big bar was "Uncle Sam's" out on the turnpike. Lawd if we could go back ...
This is great! Even thought he played all those years in Skynyrd, I was hoping he would come out with a band and do his Blackfoot material. Saw them in 1979 and 1980 in Iowa. BLACKFOOT was One of best live bands ever in the day! What an inspiration, 74 and still ROCKIN!!!
I saw Blackfoot 1979 in a little bar called Signorelli’s (known as Slicks) in Saint Martinville, Louisiana. No stage. My buddy and I walked right up to about 2 feet in front of the microphone and watch Ricky Medlocke play and sing at floor level lol Never forget it. 😎
I've seen Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet so many times. First time must have been around 79 or 80 and the last time I got to see them was in 2008 at the Hot Springs Motorcycle Rally. I remember seeing them in North Carolina in 83 when I was stationed at Ft Bragg. I've seen them more but those are the ones I remember.
I met Ricky back in 2001 at a Lynyrd Skynyrd backstage meet and greet. He sat down and ate dinner with us, he was so nice. What a great guy. Ricky, Hughie and Gary Rossington signed my Fender Strat. It was one of the greatest moments in my life. Thank You God!!
Man, are you referring to Hughie Thomasson? If you are, (he passed in 2007, I think) then two of the three signers are deceased. If I were you, I'd put that Stratocaster behind bulletproof glass in a display case!
Hi Ricky yur as wonderful of an entertainer as we’re,thirty yrs ago! Soo happy yur on that great, train, train again! Luv ya! Yur friend Mark in Daytona,,sure miss you around here?
Great band. Back in the day I remember when the radio in my 67 GTO convertible was the best part of the car. You could turn on the radio to any rock station, and you didn’t have to keep searching every song pretty much was great.. This song was one of the ones, you would crank up the radio for. The only problem was, it made me want to drive faster.
Have no idea as to where this tune originated but, my now deceased dad use to play it on his harmonica way back in the 1960's when I was a kid. The first time I heard Blackfoot play this tune, I about fell over!!!!! remember daddy singing train... train... and then rolling in on his harmonica. Way cool tune!
I was fortunate to be able to meet them many times as a child due to a neighbor being related to one of the members. We played with their extra band equipment pretending to be them ourselves as we sang their songs, met them as they passed through Jax, sometimes they had their bad ass boat parked at the dock off the Ortega/McGirts River, we could sing all of their songs….. shocked they were not as big as other bands in north Florida as 38 special or Lynard skynard. One bad arse southern rock band 🤘🏼
Yeah, I had all those Lynyrd Skynyrd gold platinum, Molly Hatchet for disaster, my brothers, the outlaws green grass and high Times. I graduated high school in 1981 so all this shit was new to me. It was just coming on. I became in 1978 still today every album they ever did, including the Christmas album, Santa is going to get some loving, have seen many times of concert Ricky Medlock is awesome. Maybe I’ll see you again when they come to Mansfield I think it’s July 2 if I remember correctly but it is this summer I’m 61 so I tend to forget, I just don’t pay attention, one of the other go, let’s go Skynyrd nation
I'll never forget hearing this the first time on house intercom radio throughout the house it was cool and amazing who are these guys ? I thought, and it was 1980 ?
I Loved the song since I first heard it when it came out on L. P. I was at my friend's house in the Alabama, swamps in New York and yes, we have swamps. And we have country.
Cool! Yes, they mentioned that, but we were at another show across town, so we missed it. When Rickey is between Skynyrd shows he does that. They become the Rickey Medlocke Band. He'll be back! 😉
What an unsung hero of rock. Original drummer of skynyrd ,leader of Blackfoot and returns as long term guitarist for skynyrd. Can’t take my eyes off him when he’s onstage
He wasn't the original drummer for Skynyrd that would be Bob Burns Rickey filled in for a short time, when Bob came back they played with 2 drummers for an even shorter time, there are pictures of the band with Bob and Rickey in them like on Skynyrds First and Last but Bob was the original, him and Gary were playing together before they met Ronnie
One night I pulled up next to some young kids at stop light. They were blaring Rap music. I started this song from the beginning, they were yelling Hee Haw or some crap like that, then they got punched in the face when Blackfoot started jamming. I laughed as the light turned green and I drove away.
I remember ricky had a Gibson firebird when the strikes album was recorded. But some ass stole their equipment truck and the firebird was never recovered as far as I know.
Great seeing Rickey playing Blackfoot songs again

Blackfoot? He'll yes. Molly Hatchet? He'll no, they were what started southern music on the road to cliche'd mediocrity.
Agree 💯
I bought "Strikes" when it first came out. Played the hell out of that album. Loved every song on it. Still have a CD copy of it.

GREAT TO SEE RICKY WITH HIS OWN BAND AGAIN. BLACKFOOT WAS AWESOME
Never receive credit for the time you spend was Lynyrd Skynyrd in the early days
It's such a joy to see and listen to these old Blackfoot songs.

This recording sounds really great for being such a loud tune. You can hear everyone clearly in the mix. Must be an amazing soundman
Thank you, & thanks for listening! He is very good, & very experienced. I was surprised because it was loud (as Rickey likes it)
love this song ricky is a awesome singer and one badd ass guitar player
The first sign of a great band is when they absolutely lock in with the drummer at the beginning of a song.
