About Hunting Texas Hogs
Hunting Texas Hogs has been in operation for over 14 years, offering world-class hog hunting adventures in South and Central Texas. Also offered are whitetail hunting and all exotics. Our regular hunting season starts Mid September and goes through Mid June of each year. We use the summer months for hog control and offer unlimited hog hunting during these months.
First settled in 1830, The Main Lodge Ranch has been in continuous operation by the same family since 2002. It is our goal to provide all of our customers with an experience that will provide a life-long memory, while providing a comfortable and safe environment. For more information, please visit our Ranch page.
Our Ranch Animals
Our ranch is home to many different animals, including Hogs, Elk, Whitetail Deer, Ram, Axis Deer, Red Stag, Black Buck, Ibex, Sika Deer, Fallow Buck, and many more. Not all of the animals at the ranch are available for hunting, so please visit our Ranch Animals page for more information.
Preparing for the Hunt
Before coming down to the ranch, be sure you have packed the right gear and equipment by visiting our Preparing for a Successful Hunt blog post.
The Hunt
Our Texas hog hunts begin at different times, based on the seasons. Verify the exact starting time of your hunt. All hunts are subject to availability. Most hog hunts take place at the Main Lodge Ranch of 265 game fenced acres.
Our hog hunts are not fully guided, but rather semi-guided. This means your guides will drop you off and pick you up from the blinds, pick up your game, and advise you on the best hiding places to find hogs on your spot and stalk. Some hunters prefer to drive their own vehicle to the blind, and this is allowed. We do offer fully guided hunts for exotics, unless other arrangements are made.
The Game
HOGS: The hogs range in type from Wild Russian Boar mix (98% of what we shoot), feral, domestic or any combination of the three. The ferociousness of these animals varies throughout any given year or season. Sizes of hogs also vary, ranging from newborn to mature boar. The main lodge ranch record hog for this year was over 500 lbs! The hog densities are sufficient for the number of hunters present to take their bag limit, however not all hunters harvest hogs. There is no guarantee of harvest or the size of hogs you will shoot. In the course of the year, 95% of hunters see hogs, but there are days when no one sees hogs. This is a high % kill rate, but we do have hunters that go home without their kill of hogs.
VARMINTS: Hunting predators and varmints is an extra activity that is not priced into any package and is provided at no charge. Varmints include, but are not limited to Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Coyote, Fox, Possum, Armadillo, Racoon, Rabbit, Ringtail Cat. There are no guarantees of harvest success with any native predator or varmint. Success is based on conditions such as weather, time of year, breeding cycles, hunter skill (or lack thereof), and of course, luck
Weapons allowed on the ranch include minimum caliber of .270 rifles, black-powder, shotgun with slugs, or archery. Varmints and predators are best taken with small caliber rifles if you plan on mounting them.
Beautiful ranch
Just got back from my hunt and while my day was a bust… but my night hunts were epic! Filled my cooler! And while not in the honey hole… big shout out for my favorite blind Tripod West! Thanks guys was epic fun… my hogs were all twitchy!
I harvested 3 nice sized hogs in the honey hole. as I stood stationary, a pack of 15 to 20 hogs came in running right towards me. I raised my rifle and put in work on them hogs. What an experience at this ranch!!!
Hello! I have watched most of your videos now because I am one of the very lucky to get drawn for the free hog hunt! I would like to thank you guys for this opportunity and my father and I are looking forward to hopefully coming out and hunting with you guys!
Its great until you find that free ends up being the same price as a paid hog hunt by the time fees are considered.
Ranch Boss I have watched your videos over & over these past few years as premium entertainment! I’m hoping in the fall of 2021 to visit the ranch & harvest some quality pork!!!! 🐖
We would love to see you down here! It is a target rich environment so bring lots of coolers! Please review the FAQ at www.independenceranch.com and you will be best prepared. See you soon!
looking good down their maybe some time I will get down on a hunt. the video look a little blurry
Ranch Boss, are you using a different camera since last season? Last few vids were a bit lower quality (pixels, not content!) than your usual very high standard. See you in October!
Good question! Same camera and settings.. I guess I am having technical difficulties that I will have to figure out. See you soon!
TexasRanchBoss I think I figured out the low quality of pixels. I think it is the Hughes Net satelite that I used to upload, Will try my Verizon Air card on the next upload so I can test the difference. Or, I could re-upload the same video on Verizon? Thanks
They got Bush Mermaids in The Honey Hole!!
Do you alow shotguns to the hog hunting
Shot Guns with Slugs are awesome for hog hunting!
How many acres is the Honey Hole ? Is it high or low fence ?
buahuntr this place is a 200 acre high fence pen. He buys the hogs and turns them loose the day before people show up.
I watched your video and it makes me laugh because as a avid hunter the only reason you’re getting a 100% kill rate is because the hogs don’t move until you’re right on top of them. Go somewhere where there’s not a high fence and I bet you’ll get a real hunt experience and you won’t have to pay $300 to shoot someone’s pet
Be sure and Reserve your spot in the Honey Hole if you are scheduled. If you have not purchased your hunt yet, now is the time! Hunting is fantastic, and the wild pork is fantastic food!
you should re shoot this vid... cant see any hogs....or much of anything
U need a Better camera! Smh
