About Hunting Texas Hogs
Hunting Texas Hogs has been in operation for over 14 years, offering world-class hog hunting adventures in South and Central Texas. Also offered are whitetail hunting and all exotics. Our regular hunting season starts Mid September and goes through Mid June of each year. We use the summer months for hog control and offer unlimited hog hunting during these months.
First settled in 1830, The Main Lodge Ranch has been in continuous operation by the same family since 2002. It is our goal to provide all of our customers with an experience that will provide a life-long memory, while providing a comfortable and safe environment. For more information, please visit our Ranch page.
Our Ranch Animals
Our ranch is home to many different animals, including Hogs, Elk, Whitetail Deer, Ram, Axis Deer, Red Stag, Black Buck, Ibex, Sika Deer, Fallow Buck, and many more. Not all of the animals at the ranch are available for hunting, so please visit our Ranch Animals page for more information.
Preparing for the Hunt
Before coming down to the ranch, be sure you have packed the right gear and equipment by visiting our Preparing for a Successful Hunt blog post.
The Hunt
Our Texas hog hunts begin at different times, based on the seasons. Verify the exact starting time of your hunt. All hunts are subject to availability. Most hog hunts take place at the Main Lodge Ranch of 265 game fenced acres.
Our hog hunts are not fully guided, but rather semi-guided. This means your guides will drop you off and pick you up from the blinds, pick up your game, and advise you on the best hiding places to find hogs on your spot and stalk. Some hunters prefer to drive their own vehicle to the blind, and this is allowed. We do offer fully guided hunts for exotics, unless other arrangements are made.
The Game
HOGS: The hogs range in type from Wild Russian Boar mix (98% of what we shoot), feral, domestic or any combination of the three. The ferociousness of these animals varies throughout any given year or season. Sizes of hogs also vary, ranging from newborn to mature boar. The main lodge ranch record hog for this year was over 500 lbs! The hog densities are sufficient for the number of hunters present to take their bag limit, however not all hunters harvest hogs. There is no guarantee of harvest or the size of hogs you will shoot. In the course of the year, 95% of hunters see hogs, but there are days when no one sees hogs. This is a high % kill rate, but we do have hunters that go home without their kill of hogs.
VARMINTS: Hunting predators and varmints is an extra activity that is not priced into any package and is provided at no charge. Varmints include, but are not limited to Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Coyote, Fox, Possum, Armadillo, Racoon, Rabbit, Ringtail Cat. There are no guarantees of harvest success with any native predator or varmint. Success is based on conditions such as weather, time of year, breeding cycles, hunter skill (or lack thereof), and of course, luck
Weapons allowed on the ranch include minimum caliber of .270 rifles, black-powder, shotgun with slugs, or archery. Varmints and predators are best taken with small caliber rifles if you plan on mounting them.
Just came back from 3 day hunt package. Your staff and ranch is GREAT. Thank you for such a great time. Can't wait to come back
Do you mind if I ask how much was your whole stay. Thank you
@@ethanedler2553 more then it should be, you can spend as much as you want. You are going to be forced to pay per pound what they wanna charge, no proccessing yourself to save on a majority of the costs
Do you do the field gutting and cleaning at the ranch? Or do you teach us how to process them.
The staff does all the Hog cleaning. You can watch and learn.
love the videos, specially being someone that has never been on a hog hunt or any structured guided hunt.
Great video ranch boss answered a lot of my questions!
I just received an email yesterday saying that I was drawn for this months hog hunt giveaway and I am SUPER exited. Can't wait

I live in Pearland and see a trip to your ranch in my future. Great videos guy, keep them coming.
So please explain the 12 mile walk where do you all walk?
It's done over about a 12 hour. Period we thoroughly cover the ranch.
Great video . TY
I always wanted to come and hunt there I hope I'll be able to one day
Y’all still at it?
Would like to book a hog hunt for three.
Please buy online or call the ranch to book. 832-419-6151.
would love the chance to come out and hunt!
Hog hunters, hog trappers and hog harvesters (for meat) are a decent bunch of good citizens!
Is archery going to be a problem as far as getting up on things out of the blind I know they're on bait and I try to stay under 40 yd
Average distance is 20-30 Yds
I am excited about the chance to win the Hog Hunt of a lifetime
Are there blinds set up for those that opt to walk? Also is chef offering cooked hog on the buffet?
Do you sell Ammo on the ranch?
We only sell 12 gauge shotgun slugs. Thanks.
Did you say 12 mile walk?
Robert Holland on day two, those that are walking can easily walk 12 miles. You can come in early if needed. However, many people opt for the honey hole where the hogs are thick and there is no walking. The honey hole is $50-$75 on day two instead of the 12 mile walk. It can be added upon arrival. No reservations . Thanks
I've got 6 people interested on hunting on your ranch. Can you send me information on how to set that up?
Howard Sebby See our current deals on the website at www.independenceranch.com
Thank you!
I need to win a hunting trip with y’all
what are your rates

Vandeth Soeu no limits! Take all you want
I am trying to gather more friends, hope I can bring more people, gonna be fun if we can make it.
This video is 5 years old. Some .223 ammo is now allowed.
That is great because the only rifle that isnt a pistol caliber is a 556/223. I’m hoping this carries over to other ranches because I think I’m going hunting in Florida (haven’t decided yet)
Thanks for the vid..please disregard my email I sent..All my questions were answered on the video.
Regards, Mike
There is no need to ask him to disregard your email. He will not answer any emails. He told me so.

What if you're disabled and can't walk that far 😊😊
After watching this, you pretty much tell it like it is, Sir. I could see that you were being as humble as possible by letting folks know exactly how it is and must be...period! I bet you scratch your head in wonder asking yourself if it is worth putting up with the ways of every kind of two-legged critter...or should you just let the four-legged ones keep on keeping on?
That being said. Thank You, Brother.
do you need a special vehicle. will a standard car make it?
Shaun Tucker regular car will get you almost anywhere on the ranch. No problems
Id hire someone to run a tractor with a batwing mower and turn him loose and i did that 2 years for ranchers, ran at night or day plus i carried a weapon, like your videos my compliments sir ill be watching and listening
Who's playing the music in the background?
How much do you pay for help hunting hogs? I assume since you need help you don't charge Plenty of places begging for help.
The wind is blowing your background around lulz
