- Every week, Eco India brings you stories that inspire to build a cleaner, greener and better tomorrow. Our top story this week contextualises the problem of food waste in India, and looks at Feeding India, an organisation that collect excess food from restaurants, wedding receptions and corporate canteens, which would most likely be thrown away, and distribute it among those who can’t afford a healthy meal.

Sensible initiative, especially the last part of coming up with an app which gives away an extra food to be picked up and distributed to needy people!!
This is great. Hunger, thirst and malnutrition should be eliminated immediately. I am truly happy to see such good changes! Keep it up! Keep growing! For a hunger free world!

I had experienced hunger once and i think everyone should do it for 24 to 30 hours and then you will surely appreciate these people. A human with empty stomach becomes a monster and if you feed them then we are going to have so many productive people around
himanshu gupta you are right. It is very easy to judge others . Had we faced their circumstances we could have done worse.
Even if you do nothing to help them , we must be aware and sensitive about their pain.

1. Make people, students and others aware of how a large growth in population can be detrimental to the nation.
2. All religious communities should allow contraceptives.
3. People and the society should normalise contraceptives.
3. Ban baby bonus.
4. Increase adoption of children.
5. Having one child is great and having 2 children is enough.
6. Educate women.
Wowwww..... They are creating a huge impact to those who try to show by their richness rather than thinking about wasting foods. People talk about Pakistan and economy. But what would happen if you earn 100 rupees and waste 60 rupees. So, they are doing very Noble work.
Tremendous job... These organizations must be awarded for addressing such a big challenge of hunger and starvation in the country like ours...

Cold chains is definitely a huge problem. These problems are generally addressed when someone can make money out of it and create win-win situations. Hello Entrepreneurs!!
Excited about your mobile app. My relatives don't like to hand out money and overburden me with sweets. Will definitely give them to you when app comes out. (Just one concern is that if you could make sure the food I send to you isn't taken up by someone else who doesn't actually need it)
Finally, Very few are able to have social work in their mind to succeed. But the paradox is that when an organisation works with volunteers....the efficiency levels are way higher than corporate guys.

The problem always was and always will be '' reach". Its almost impossible to reach every corner of the country and cause of that ppl gonna die from hunger . It pains my heart to think ppl die from hunger in my great country . We came a long way and yet the journey just began , lets help everyone to best of our abilities.

Don't try & feed the world -Just start with feeding your community first. Lead by example.
In my town in NZ, supermarkets give their foods to various charities. We also have 'Waste Not, Want Not initiative whereby surplus fruits & vegetables are dropped off to be distributed.
May Krishna bless you volunteers. The amount of food wasted in the USA can feed the whole world.

Beautiful programme and initiative. So often big businesses are reluctant or take measures not to give excess food to those needy. However the people who are receibing the food won't hurt the enterprises but support them in advertising and these consumers are too poor to be customers, so win win situation. In the UK they have banned dumping of excess or sell by date food from supermarkets, these now go to charities or feed livestock. Together top to bottom approach, we can reduce and eliminate world hunger.
I know viewers get emotinally affected after watching this.... So viewers please do some action to grow this initiatives.....setup a fridge outside your home aur inside also and write on you wall....people still come to donate food
