When i play, it doesnt sound like velvet. Then i hear others play and i hear what others love about it. I think my ear doesnt hear it the same because its right at my head. I shouldve been a cellist lol
A difficult piece to play, Its apparent you have a bright and wonderful future ahead of you. Live life to the fullest and never stop what god has given you the gift of music.
When she finished the first movement I sat (alone) in my room and I started applauding... haha dumb me ^^ anyways: concratulations to this performance. Such a sound is unique! Do me one favour and show your talent to the world!
I used to play one in HS. Was never first chair lol, but I have been thinking about checking out the local music stores and see if I could pick up one again. These videos definitely bring back memories...
Why does everybody know the violin concertos by Vieuxtemps (at least the one in a minor), but not his works for viola? For my ears, this work is much more interesting than his violin concertos (which, of course, are made well). Maybe because it' s chamber music, not virtuoso music. But there is better and worse chamber music, and this is really good And it' s played wonderful.
Ah, Cristina. Velvet for the ears, great description of one of the commentators. In a work that shows the poetry of the C-string in all its glory, and then forces the player into amazing acrobatics. And then the sensitive Barcarolle... Thanks for sharing this for me unknown work. You are a jewel. One remark: would it be possible to re-post some of your older recordings including the Vieuxtemps in a higher resolution (and sound quality), so this repertoire and your musicality are in an even brighter spotlight?
Dear Fokke, thank you so much for your kind words. This inspires me a a lot, I am glad that you are enjoying my recordings! Unfortunately, I cannot improve the sound or video quality from these old files. But I am quite sure that sooner or later, I will be performing these pieces again and will be able to share new recordings of them with a higher quality :) Again, thank you very much for listening to them. Cristina.
Unfortunately, for a solo violist (or violinist), that spot is the only reasonable place to stand, because the instrument's voice can only project into the audience in that stance. If the soloist stood further to the audience left, she would be out of sight of the accompanist. The cello is "more ideal" if you insist on both soloist and accompanist being fully visible, because a cellist would face forward (good for projection) and sit in the curve of the piano (in view of the accompanist). Hope that makes sense.
Violas are like velvet for the ears.
One of the most underrated instruments.
I like the woody tone
Very true.

Miguel Marquez You might want to try recording yourself to see if you can get a different perspective on your playing.
As a pianist and a violist I love this
This is so beautiful. I just started learning viola and listen to this every day!

Xavier Armendáriz Do IT!!! Don't have a viola? Trade your violin!
Play it.
Same, I’m definitely going to buy one after this
Good luck, Viola is a very hard instrument, but so beautiful :) !
I went through the same after hearing Brahms's sonatas, I don't really have time now, but I know someday I'll buy one and learn
