Thank you so much for your excellent reaction to the Carpenters who i have been a fan of since i was a teen and im 67 years old now. What i love about your reactions is that you play the whole track before reacting, such a refreshing change as so many reactors keep stopping the track several times and it spoils the whole experience.
Talking of voices, i find your own voice immensely relaxing to listen to, maybe you should consider doing ASMR videos as i would certainly be a fan.
Finally, i would love your opinion of a Caroenters track that has only once been reacted to on UA-cam and maybe you could be the second. Its a beautiful, soulful track which really emphasises Karens deep velvety tones and clarity of voice. Ironically the track is called I Cant Make Music and can be found on their Now and Then album.
Cant wait to hear more reactions from you soon. Take care.

Excellent reaction, Pat. This was 1970 from their second album. A couple of songs I’d recommend that show off her extraordinary voice from a few years later are, One More Time and Ordinary Fool.

Love this song - thanks for your reaction to it. It's one of the songs that really gives me "the feels" at a really deep level. I've always thought of it as one of the deep cuts of their Close to You album, but the one that touched me the most. It was co-written by Richard and his frequent collaborator, John Bettis.

Buenos Aires, yo coincido con el comentario sobre la canción, pero no es solo la canción, era ella con su voz incomparable, con tantos matices sin cambiar el color de voz, con suavidad, sin estridencias,. Era un angel cantando.-

    Hi Patrick,
Yes Karen was velvety and oh so smooth. I grew up with them, Close To You being my first serious album I purchased in 1970 to start my vinyl collection, I was 14. I want to share with you a young voice. She is 20, the same age as Karen for this and other songs from the Close To You album. In April she made two live performances, the first was near her home in Minneapolis for one song. Two weeks later she performed two songs, live. This time it was in Downey, CA. At the Carpenters 55th Anniversary. Do I have your attention? There were 8 acts that sang on the Acoustic Night Concert. She was the youngest invitee. I was there and she brought the house down. This was held at the United Methodist Church of Downey, where Karen had her final service. The audience of about 300 was filled with a good number of people who knew the Carpenter family well. This was a special and emotional night.
The singer I’m asking you to take a look at is Tori Holub (Ha Lubb). The song I have linked below is a collaboration with James Wilkas who produced it with a world wide group of musicians. Tori sang lead. The song was released on March 2nd 2024, Karen’s birthday. It has attained 400K views. I’ve had that song and Tori analyzed by Fil at Wings of Pegasus. There is no autotune or pitch correction. This is as natural as production as you can do in current times. Real instruments and real voices. Jim provides the “Richard” side of the equation. Just as in the original song, the only voices are Tori and Jim. In the vast majority of Carpenters songs, in the studio it was only Karen and Richard. This video I’m linking visualizes the process Richard used. It is limited only by the screen space for clarity, there are more vocal layers than he could squeeze on the screen and have it make sense. That said, to me this is THE BEST cover of a Carpenters song I’ve ever seen or heard. I hope you give it a spin, Patrick.
The song is; We’ve Only Just Begun.
There are full credits at the end of the video!! Jim also wrote a detailed description in the info box below the video. I hope I’ve given you enough info to know, I’m not wasting your time. I and a few others have over 40 reactions to this video out there. I know how much you love Carpenters, me too from 1970.

1970, from the Close To You album that was their jazziest. It included the two monster hits Close To You and We've Only Just Begun, but some of the album tracks that were never singles are more interesting...from the same album check out Crescent Noon and Another Song, the latter of which features some terrific jazz flute...
For Richard on his own, check out some of his 1987 solo album Time. When Time Was All We Had and Calling Your Name Again (the latter a popular karaoke song in the Philippines) show Richard the singer off nicely. Lead single from Time was Something In Your Eyes, with a great lead vocal by Dusty Springfield. (That one too is big for karaoke in the Philippines.)
The audio you hear here is the studio recording from Close To You. But they were terrific live. And of course KC was a kickass drummer, too. Check out the 1971 live Bacharach medley performed outside the Walter Reed military hospital. That's pure live, and phenomenal...

I ❤ karen a lot. Rest peacefully angel. I wish her mother was more loving, fair and nicer to her. I think the mother loved her son more...pfff so disgusting ! I wonder if to some point karen's bro talk to his mother and told her that it wasn't right how she was treating her own and only daughter ! Childhood is everything ! With a stable, safe, loving family environment, karen would have become a more solide, confident woman with a good self-esteem and sense of self ! It's too bad really ! But at the same time, the broken hearted people are often the best artists ! King MJ, Marvin Gaye just to name a few were cleary the proof of that. ❤ May all those greats rest peacefully.
