I wonder if people do 3d scan old toys, because this playset really does benefit from it. Also, awesome review.

What would need to happen is someone who has this playset would either need to own a 3-D scanner or know someone who does and then you just go to town scanning each part. 3-D scanners sometimes have hard times on small items but you could re-create this with 3-D printing.

You'd need people to donate their toys to potentially review/breakdown for scanning.
I've been looking into it for Kenner's Star Wars figures since collectors are making them rarer and rarer

I saw this playset for sale on clearance at Blokker in Winschoten (The Netherlands/Holland) back in the 80s There were at least 4x sets.
I didn't have the money to buy it back then.
2x of my friends has this playset and I played with it only a little bit because Ghost Command Playset, Ghost Buggy and Bone Troller were known to be very fragile among us kids back then already, it had several broken pieces but was massive (through kids eyes) and looked totally awesome!
Fast forward I bought this Playset back in 2010 in The Netherlands (Holland). I lived there at the time. I still don't have the room to display it. My set is new in open box with unapplied sticker sheet.
I loosley put my set together to see if all parts are there and to photograph a parts inventory. I scanned the stickersheets and put them up on the OGB fansite back in the day.
It's awesome you finally got this white whale in your Collection Michael! Thank you for creating the review video, I enjoyed it a lot and agree with you about the quality.
It's possible this playset was super limited and rare in the USA however I think this playset was made more available in Europe... At least in The Netherlands! I have no clue about the other Countries since all of my experiences were from the Netherlands including the set you acquired.

Seeing it in person, I can EASILY see why it was so enticing to both boys and girls. Like you said, it wasn't a pink dream house or a steel fortress but it's something that kids love; a goofy, spooky looking house.
I really, REALLY wish there were more made because you know what something like this is calling for? Even more detailed paintwork for those tiny details on the molded features. Now imagine had they done more of that, the thing would have looked even MORE bombastic!

Congrats on finally getting that playset. And the Collecting Community wasn't kidding, that set is amazing, though fragile. I remember having "The Real Ghostbusters" Firehouse playset as kid, but this playset puts that set to shame. I kinda now wish that Firehouse took ideas from that Ghost Command Center. :)

I can guarantee you it was sold in TRU's here in the states back in the day. That's where I first saw them. The legends of 250 made and only being sold in catalogs is sadly a legend that keeps growing. While Schaper only produced them for a year before being bought by Tycoin 1986. The toys continued to be shown in Tyco catalogs up through 1988 if I remember correctly. From how I understand it, Tyco just simply kept them in their Toy Fair Catalogs in order to continue to move the stock they acquired from Schaper's warehouses.

Good video! This review somehow made me think of my childhood Rescue Heroes stuff. Especially when you mentioned the ghost tower playset, as it reminds me of the Rescue Heroes control tower playset I had as a kid (its in storage somewhere) that set could take a beating. I think the only damage it has is a bent flag at the top because I used to like to hang the grappling hook guys from there and swing them around. Definitely my intro into action figures as a kid.

Wow, you finally got this set together! What a great and rare set to find. Without the interweb we would never be able to find those toys and playsets we had when we were kids. I was grown up by the time this series was aired , but I do remember the cartoons and vaguely remember the toys. I was too busy buying Transformers and GI Joe's for my kids. I wouldn't buy them Thundercats and opted for He Man instead. They seemed to like the gimmicks for those better. Beast Wars were big on thier list also. What a neat but fragile playset you've brought back to life! Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on finally getting this. Though I wasn't a viewer of this cartoon, I have to admit it's awesome looking. I find it hard to understand why on the skull TV the antenna couldn't just come out from the top. Didn't have to be a long antenna. Also no doors on the elevator? I may not be very intelligent but some things are just no brainers. Anyway congratulations and looking forward to more videos. I love the nostalgia of these toys.

It's called Ansabo.... oh ok lol. This is so awesome, great video on this holy grail playset. A few years ago, I had 2 opportunities to purchase this from the SAME person and passed on both. Jordan the Toy Hunter had this for sale at NY Comic Con, and then later at his NJ store... and I just didn't want to fork over $1500 or anywhere near that. Even so, I still regret it and I want it even more after watching the video! A great underrated toyline (and cartoon as well) and awesome playset! =D

But as I've been watching video after video on the toys and the effort people have been going through to collect them, I think I'll stay away. Hi Michael, thanks for the inside scoop on this Ghostbusters playset and the history of collecting it! Its so much fun walking through the good and the bad of the design of the set. I was wondering: you spent a bit of time talking about the rarity of the piece, even saying its been compared to the Holy Grail, but I'm still not exactly sure how you happen to have it. It probably came from a reseller, since you say, "the kid who originally owned it put the stickers in the wrong place". Wasn't it exciting to hear from this guy? Like, "Holy Grail" exciting? If I was scouring the globe looking for the Holy Grail, and got a call from someone wanting to sell it, I'd be super stoked! As long as I didn't "choose poorly" Fantastic vid!
