As to her question about Luke's mother... Darth fell in love with one of the turbo lifts in the first death star. Her name was Ella, and when she said "Going down"... Darth felt a stir in his suit. Darth and Ella Vader were married shortly thereafter.
I've read somewhere, and it may be an urban legend, that during the shooting of the Endor forest scenes of Return of the Jedi, the actor playing Chewbacca was told not to get too far away from the crew while wearing the suit because he might be mistaken for a Bigfoot and getting shot by some redneck hunter...
Every time she wondered aloud if a scene had been edited more recently... nope, that's how good (creative?) ILM was at special effects. Yes, even back then
"...to make him talk?" A torture device, yes, but not to make him talk. Just to make him suffer. Vader was counting on that to cause a 'disturbance' in the Force, which Luke would sense and react to. Han's extreme pain was what lured Luke to Bespin.
Although everyone has their personal favorites, this film is generally considered to be the best. I once went to a party at the house of the director. Nice man, rest in peace. He had quite a lot models from this film on display in his house.
Thinking Vader's helmet from the back was "a helmet-shaped ship floating in space" and Luke throwing a detonator into the AT-AT was "his lightsaber exploding" are some of the most entertaining errors I've ever seen someone make while watching these. Well done.
To keep the secret contained, the words that were spoken by David Prowse on set and were written in the script most people got were "No, Obi-Wan killed your father." The only people who knew the actual lines on the day were writer George Lucas, director Irvin Kershner, and actor Mark Hamil, who had been told earlier that day so he could prepare an appropriate response.
@@raybernal6829 True, though that wasn't on set and probably wasn't until after principle photography wrapped. The sound engineer and at least one of the editors would have known too.
Fun fact: There is a different Vader here. A more serious imposing Vader. He doesn’t show you his “top”. No yelling etc. Kershner instructed James Earl Jones to use a different timbre, and wanted a tight range. Not quite robotic, but more level and so you never know what he’s gonna do. You can specifically hear it when he says “Did your men deactivate the hyperdrive on the Millennium Falcon”, it actually is almost robotic. Very different that the other two
21:15 -- RE: "You're never too old [to begin the training], what kind of message is that Yoda?"; A: From Yoda's point of view it's the right way to do it. Either it gets done Right or it doesn't get done at all. Do, or Do Not - there is no Try. The Jedi, for all their wonderful talents and abilities, were not Perfect and part of their imperfection lies in how they initiate and indoctrinate new trainees to become Jedi. The reason they want them young is because it would presumably be easier to train them in how to avoid the Dark Side, since deep seated fears, hurts, and angers from childhood would almost inevitably lead to problems later on when they're grown and have access to what Vader simply calls Power.
tbh I would ignore any comments that say "Lucas said" because i stg every 15 mins Lucas changes his mind and tells a different story, it's hilarious tbh, iv never seen an artist change their mind so often on what they think, but i respect that he just goes w the vibes and says whatever
Remember the genesis of the potential sequel. Splinter of the Mind’s Eye. From what I have read, it was written with the intention of using sets from the first film. When the studio gave a green light for sequels. Splinter was scrapped in favor of two more films, this and Episode VI. In fact, the first film was rereleased around the same time as this one, but the opening crawl now read Episode IV.
I just wish his fickle nature would've translated to multiple versions available on different media, namely the original trilogy on whatever medium is latest. But I guess the "despecialized" versions will have to do.
The thing about Lando is, he really was doing his best to help. Even though, "they arrived right before you did," he made sure Han met Vader armed. His Plan A was, "Han shoots Vader, probably Boba Fett too, then we all make an epic getaway. It's not like the storm troopers will hit any of us."
The Special Edition from 1997 contains some new effects, but for the most part they left it intact. The most noticeable changes are in the scenes on Bespin (Cloud City). In the original version, most of the walls were plain solid white. In the new version, they added more windows, and adjusted the lighting. Additionally, they cleaned up the compositing in the Hoth battle scene to remove matte lines. The shots of the Wampa (the "Yeti") eating its kill were shot new. A couple of lines were replaced, too. In the original, after R2D2 is spat out by the creature in the swamp, Luke says "You're lucky you don't taste too good.", but it was changed in 1997 to "You were lucky to get out of there." At the end, when Vader is striding past Imperial officers, in the 1980 version he said "Bring my shuttle", and in the 1997 version, the line is dubbed "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." The shot on Cloud City where a cloud car zooms by while Leia is seen in a window was redone. The original shot looked very cartoonish. And the approach of the Falcon to cloud city was extended with new CGI shots. The sequence showing Vader's shuttle arriving aboard the Star Destroyer was added in, but was created using alternate angles and takes from Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. Some tweaking of the colour of Han's shirt just before he is frozen in carbonite to try to cover up a reputed continuity error - was his vest on or not? Those are the ones that come to mind. Most other tweaks were very small.
I remember the "You're lucky you don't taste very good" line, and I hope it's not the Mandela effect rearing its ugly head, but I have heard an alternate explanation. It was *not* a change made for the Special Edition, but the difference between the stereo and the surround sound mixes. In 1980, most theatres would still only have stereo sound, so the "you don't taste very good" line would be what people remembered from then. Since then, of course, surround sound has become the norm, not just in theatres, but in homes as well.
My family took me and my friends to this on my 10th birthday. It was amazing. Then, a girlfriend of mine took me to see this on my 40th birthday, but with the New York Philharmonic playing the music live. It was spectacular to see the full orchestra playing all the music. Absolutely incredible!
7:05 They're selling sleeping bags of that. 9:33 Of course it is. So is C-3PO and R2-D2. 23:31 It's a metaphor for "go to the Dark Sider and you'll become next Vader"... and ther other thing.
The Riding creature is called a Tauntaun. The Tauntaun sleeping bag was the best April Fools Day product that "Think Geek" ever came up with. Complete with a "Print" on the inside...
You're misunderstanding the scene with Luke and the fake-Vader in the cave. It didn't have anything to do with Vader being his dad. It had to do with the Dark Side of the Force. Luke went in there, saw Vader, and immediately drew his weapon. Luke was aggressive _first._ Being that, Luke _attacked_ first and did so with anger and aggression. All the things Yoda warned him not to do. The Force was showing Luke what it leads to. In other words, by trying so hard and with such anger in him to _kill_ Vader, he could easily _become_ the thing he hated. This is why Yoda later calls it his 'failure at the cave'. Luke failed to remain calm, to control his fear and anger. As for not knowing... you'd be amazed. There _are_ people, grown-butt adults, who have managed to reach their twenties or more, and who _weren't_ aware of it until watching the movie. It is rare, but it's not impossible. Have a nice day!
Yes. Luke’s experience in the cave on Dagobah was (more or less) the Force's version of a vision quest - a challenge wherein the participant is presented with an opportunity to transcend his/her earthly limitations to achieve a higher level of understanding and/or spiritual existence. For Luke, it was a test of his temperament and self-control, and he failed it. Luke (to Yoda): “What’s in there?” Yoda: “Only what you take with you.” This concept is explored further in the “Star Wars: Rebels” animated series.
Yoda is performed by Frank Oz, the muppeteer who famolusly performed Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Animal, Sam the Eagle, Bert, Cookie Monster, Grover and other Muppet characters. He also voiced Fungus in Monsters, Inc. and Guard Dave in Inside Out 1 and 2, appeared in The Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000, plus he have directed a lot of movies such as The Dark Crystal (along with Muppet creator Jim Henson), Muppets Take Manhattan (his solo directorial debut), Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Soundrels and What About Bob?.
Okay, first of all, at 7:44, that's not "just like a random guy." That's Captain Wedge Antilles, one of the founders of Rogue Squadron with Luke. He was part of Luke's flight in Red Squadron at the Battle of Yavin (A New Hope). He is also one of the guys that got a killing blow on the Second Death Star at the Battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi). He is one of the primary leaders and pilots in the upcoming Battle of Hoth. He is not just some random guy. He's one of the most decorated and experienced pilots in the Rebel Alliance. And in the Legends/EU, he continues to lead Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron with distinction and excellence. Helps free Coruscant from the Empire, and proceeds to kick the crap out of multiple Imperial warlords like Isard and Zinj.
@@BouillaBased Thanks.... I was about to correct... that's now Wedge :) Wedge was in the trench run in Ep:IV, & then shows up at the Party in : VI , come to think of it.... Wedge shows up with Jansen in: V, for the 'Snow Speeder' Harpoon runs at the AT-AT's
@@frankducky6130I got the impression that he must have made some poor decisions before, and his mistake here, revealing the fleet to the rebels too soon, was just the last straw.
*I love how Chewie laughs when Leia says "I don't know where you get your delusions, laserbrain" lol* *The revelation of Darth Vader being Luke's father is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest "Say whaaaaaaaaa?!" moment in movie history* *SIDE NOTE:* *> If you're wondering why Yoda sounds like Miss Piggy from The Muppets, they had the same puppeteer/voice actor: Frank Oz*
Well, Erin, you are in it now! I'm enjoying your journey through Star Wars. Be sure to keep the parody, "Spaceballs" in mind for a later, and funny, experience.
2:27 -- RE: "Effects were added in to the version [of A New Hope] that I watched..."; A: Yes, and technically speaking the Audience is who distinguishes "versions" because Lucas treated the "Special Editions" as re-releases and thus the only official version. Mostly Lucas gets criticized for fooling around with Episodes 4-6 decades later but in his defense it wasn't all new sequences with CGI effects. Sometimes, like in this film, he had legit reasons to want to re-master parts because the technology had advanced so much and what had been "Good enough" for 1977 or 1980 could be outdone using a computer and the same source elements that had been used for the originals. In this film, for example, there was wonky bluescreen effects plainly visible in the Snow Speeders during the Hoth sequences, and fixing that should only help to preserve immersion, not break it.
Fun fact: Mark Hamil had a hemorrhoid while they were shooting the Tonton scenes on Hoth (the snow planet). He fell in love with the Tonton he was riding and ended up naming her "Hemorrhoidia". He convinced George Lucas to let him keep her as a pet. Hemorrhoidia was his beloved pet and best friends with his dog Gloria until she passed away in 2010 from brain cancer.
Another note ... Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher had signed on to do both Ep 5 and 6 after George Lucas knew he was going to do them with the success of the first movie (known as just "Star Wars") but Harrison Ford did not want to commit past Ep5 ... That's why there were certain things done at the end like Han being frozen and Lando taking over the Falcon (wearing basically Han's uniform 😎). Shortly before the release of TESB HF did agree to do ROTJ 😉
Empire has very little added. The only real change is the look of the Emperor. Same with ROTJ. There is only one major change. Lucas made most of the changes in the first movie. Yes, Chewie is a man in a suit, Peter Mayhew.
Ehh.. the added CGI song & dance routine in Jabba's Palace is an extensive eye sore in RotJ. I also wasn't crazy about all the extra sarlacc tentacles and such added. The worst part, though, was the Jabba insertion in the hangar from the first film. Not only did it look terrible, and make him look smaller, it also portrayed Jabba as less threatening. Worst change.
@@NefariousKoel I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the song and dance change in Jabba's palace. It looks ridiculous and the music is completely out of place. The original was so much more fitting.
I remember when I was a kid and I had watched the revelation seen a Vader being Luke’s father and was so shocked myself. I kept on trying to ask my dad how did that happen? How did his father become evil? And why does he need that suit? The original trilogy came out around my parents time while I was young when the prequel trilogy came out. Fun fact: when the cast was doing the reading for the script, the original line was Obi-Wan killed your father. However, this was done to avoid spoilers among the cast as Mark Hamilton and most likely James Earl Jones and anyone else that was involved with the character Vader would know the true iconic line. Once the cast found out, Harrison Ford was so shocked and surprised and didn’t understand why Mark kept it from him. 🌌🛸⚔️💙❤️
You ship Han and Leia? I did too, since the first time I watched them interact in ep4. Something in my childish mind (I was under 10 at the time) made me think they were a better fit than the Luke-Leia alternative, besides Luke being the story's main hero and Han the reluctant one. Watching The Empire Strikes Back cemented my opinion. Today, decades later I still congratulate my very young self her insight!
The reason looks different is he was involved in a serious car accident and required facial reconstruction. The 2nd movie incorporated this by him getting smacked by that creature at the start of the movie.
About the "no bras in space", Carrie Fisher claimed that George Lucas told her that in response to her white dress in episode 4. For this episode, you might notice that Luke has a mild facial scar following the attack by the wampa (the yeti). In reality, Mark Hamill got into a car crash in between films and had some facial wounds that scarred visibly. Instead of putting him through extensive makeup throughout the filming to hide the scars, George Lucas wrote the wampa attack to give a reason for Luke being scarred. (Also, some of the added effects were the really gory bits in the creature's cave. Before there weren't as many direct views of the monster.) The ion cannon blasts at the Star Destroyers were original effects. Yes, Chewbacca is a person in a suit. The wonderful actor Peter Mayhew, to be precise. Fun fact: the scenes with Chewbacca have Peter saying the lines in English so the other actors can respond with complete understanding, then Chewbacca's roaring is added in post-production. (It's worth noting that R2-D2 in most scenes is also a guy in a suit, Kenny Baker. There are some shots where he's a remote-controlled model, but the close up parts are Baker in the suit.)
Almost no one ever recommends it but I do... you really should watch the film Solo. The good thing about it is you can watch it anytime. It explains it lot about the Millennium Falcon. I loved it. Really loved your reactions and remarks on this one. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
In the '30s serials there were no bras because they were very new and not fully accepted garments It would be Howard Hughes' love for bras that would see them popularized in movies he made in the '30s Bonus Fun Fact! Star Wars is owned by Disney and the original Disney Land park had a store named "The Wizard of Bras"
I saw this in the theater when I was 18. It blew all our minds back then. I figured Vader was just messing with Luke's head and was lying. I thought Bobba Fett was going to be Luke & Han's father, But with two different mothers. Hence why Luke had the Force and Han didn't. Figured Han's mom died. And Ankin remarried later and had Luke then. I never liked Vader was Luke's father. I thought it was lame and too predictable as a plot device.
A fun blooper - in the carbon freeze chamber during the Luke/Vadar fight - when Luke knocks Vadar down and then jumps after him. .. Watch the lower left hand corner. You hear his feet hit then a few seconds after you can see his head pop back into frame as Mark Hammil hit a trampoline. George Lucas wrote this whole saga prequels included (if I remember right), but didn't get around to making them or perhaps couldn't, right away. So that is why they were posted in reverse order with 4,5,6 coming first and then t he 1,2,3
Most of the effects you see were just how they looked back then after the first movie, he got a bigger budget so it looked better. One thing I remember they added in this was in the cloud city. They added windows inside the building to the outside to remind you, they’re up in the sky because in the original there were no windows so it just felt like a cramped building that could be anywhere
Greetings from Hoth. Or Norway, as it is known in our galaxy. 😊 The Hoth scenes were shot here, specifically at Finse, up in the mountains. Of the three original movies, this is probably the one that has been changed the least. When the 1997 Special Edition came out, the most noticeable change was that Cloud City had gotten a lot of windows, showing the outside behind the characters. Originally it looked a lot more cramped. They also cleaned up a lot of bluescreen artifacts. But the effects during the battle of Hoth were pretty much unchanged. However, when it was released on Blu-ray there were additional changes, mainly that they had redone the whole conversation between Vader and The Emperor. In Episode VI, he was played by Ian McDiarmid, and now the scene had been reshot with him in the role, improving continuity. Someone else in heavy makeup originally played him in Episode V, not credited, but the voice was done by Clive Revill, who's still in the credits even though nothing of him remains. This was the first movie with an episode number in the title, though the original movie, previously only known as Star Wars, was re-released with "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the opening crawl around the same time. I often see arguments between two camps, one saying that Lucas planned the whole thing from the start, and the other saying that he just made the whole thing up as he went along. I expect that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. He has admitted that killing off Obi-wan was a late decision, and that Yoda was created to replace the mentor role. But I do remember an interview around the time that Episode V came out, saying that episodes I through III would show the insidious plotting that led to the fall of the Republic, which they did.
Saddest part is the actual line, quoted from the movie, is not an inherent spoiler... "No, I am your father". But the famous line people repeat is "Luke, I am your father". Never said in the movie.
You have to understand. Three years have passed since the destruction of the Death Star and the beginning of this movie. Han and Leia had been intimate on multiple occasions. He knows all too well where his boundaries with her are. He joined the Rebellion for her. He gave up his life for her. He betrayed one of if not THE most Dangerous and vengeful gangsters in the galaxy for her. He does not believe in the cause but he does believe in his love for her. Leia is too involved with the Rebellion and the war to be romantically engaged with anyone no matter how much she cares. Han has been showing her his feelings through his actions, but she can’t bring herself to say it. The bounty Hunter mentioned earlier was Han’s excuse to get out. When he says I Know, he saying “I won, I knew you loved me.” If Leia told him sooner, a thousand bounty hunters wouldn’t keep him from her.
Also the hologram of the emperor was added later. Because it was a whole different actor and looked weird. Bc they didn’t know what he’d look like when he finally shows up in the next film.
Please watch the despecialized versions of the original trilogy. They are the culturally significant, oscar-winning versions released in the late 70s and early 80s. They are the versions that millions flocked to see when "blockbuster" had just become a new term. The widely available "special editions" were doctored using CGI twenty years later. They are not recognized by the The National Film Registry or the Academy because of how significant the changes are. George has tried to erase the original versions from existence but devoted OT fans have since recreated the pure original versions (despecialized). If it were up to George they would be gone forever.
25:43 -- RE: "Luminous Beings are We, not this crude matter."; A: Full disclosure, I think this is my most favorite line from all of the Star Wars canon. He's not only talking about the Force Ghosts (although that is exactly what he means), but also about the most basic philosophical concepts which define the difference between "Eastern and Western" thought on the planet Earth. Compare Yoda here to Galadriel in The Fellowship of the Ring, they're basically the same character, quite luminous already.
There's nothing philosophical about it. It's just the truth. We are beings of light. Straight up. What is a person made of? Keep seeking the source and you'll find the light at the end of the tunnel. Light encompasses all things, connects all things, contains all things, where there is light, there is existence, where there is no light, there is nothing. As above, so below.
I just came to see how many commenters make that tired, worn-out, decades-old joke about the temperature inside a Tauntaun, like it's the first time anyone's ever said it. It was funny 40 years ago. Now it's clichéd and annoying. 🙄
There is an alternate take of the first kiss scene between Han and Leia. It makes Han much less pushy feeling and Leia far more wanting his kiss. Only problem was the kiss "didn't feel like a first kiss" to the director so he went with the take you see. Having seen both I wish the alternate take had been kept.
I have a recollection of reading an article back in 1977 or 1978 that indicated that George Lucas had the outlines for all 9 parts, but had decided to start with four because he thought it would have a wider appeal.
Great reaction as always gorgeous ❤ Carrie Fisher made the comment regarding not wearing a bra at a ceremony honoring Lucas. It was hilarious.. was it true "shrugs" but remember this was the late 70s early 80s so 🤔😉 yes that is an actor inside Chewbaccas costume. English actor Peter Mayhew who was 7'3" and passed away in 2019. He played the part in the first 7 movies.
If you want to see these movies in their original theatrical release form, ya gotta look into the "Harmy's Despecialized Versions". A guy used old film prints and restored the movies back to their original state, without all the added effects and little story elements that were changed. They're not exactly official, so you gotta pirate them.
This is a “special edition” of The Empire Strikes Back. The original theatrical movie was a lot more subtle about the yeti (in movie a Wampa). That’s pronounced Whomp-UH. Anyway, all you saw of that creature in the original movie was the yeti moving around in a vague shot outside the cave.
I may be alone on this, but I actually encourage people who just saw ESB to go watch the prequel trilogy BEFORE watching Return of the Jedi. I believe with some of the recent changes made to the film, it's the most satisfying (it's hard to explain without spoilers).
23:45 -- RE: "He had to do it so that he [ie. Luke] could see. I mean, obviously, I know the quote..."; A: Yes, from later in this film. *But* what is the Force really telling Luke here? From the point of view of the Force (and presumably, the Dark Side since Yoda claimed this was a place strong in the Dark Side) that there is *no* difference between Luke and Vader, they are essentially the Same. That's a slightly different message than the line from later in the film, *but* that line nonetheless explains *Why* they should be so similar as far as the Dark Side is concerned.
19:30 -- RE: Shipping Han and Leia v. Leia and Luke; A: Full disclosure, I'm in the Mystical Head-Canon of the Jedi camp, and the way I see it, the Force is the reason why Luke and Leia were brought together, *AND* at the same time it also brought Han and Leia together. What isn't as obvious is that the Force can have different "reasons" (insofar as it has any Reason at all) for why these people need to be brought together. *This* is why Obi-wan smiles as much as he does in "A New Hope" though because he also sees it from this point of view. Without him or Yoda having done anything at all, the Force itself causes this small group of heroes to group together to fight the Good fight, and they win. So Yeah, why does Leia kiss Luke in ESB? Because that's also the Force, in a way, except.... it *could* be more on the Dark Side of the Force than the Light because she wants to hurt Han, at least a little.
I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. I was 16 Years old in 1980 when I saw Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Bak. The Special effects were still ahead of its time, The entire Movie theatre was shocked and gasped when Darth Vader told Luke who he was. The scene where Han Solo told Princess Leia He Knew after she told him I Love You was improvised. Harrison Ford in Filming kept saying I Love you back, but it wasn't working. On one take he goes I know. He explains to George Lucas that Han Solo would say I know. George Lucas agreed so it stayed in. George Lucas has allowed Harrison Ford to adlib In Star Wars Episode IV in the Detention block when talking on the intercom about not coming into the area. The script had got to him late so he made up a dialog. George Lucas was flexible if the Actors had good ideas. The opening scene where Luke was attacked by the Yedi and made to bleed was added into the movie. In real Life Mark Hamill had been in an accident and it had created a injury. They decided to write a injury into the story to explain why he looked different in the Face. The scene where the Pilot finds Luke and Han in the Snow and using the Call sign Rogue Two was because of paying Tribute to Rogue One which later would become a Star Wars Movie called Rogue One. That was true about Princess Leia not being allowed a Bra or Panties because George Lucas said no underwear in space. This did cause some wardrobe malfunctions during filming in several of the Star Wars Episodes.
There's no such thing as what is your favorite Star Wars Movie it's just as simple as what one you like best now what is the Best Star Wars Movie well There's only one Choice the Empire Strikes Back There's a Big difference between Best and Favorite
Peter Mayhew was the actor that played Chewbacca. When he showed up for casting it was customary as an Englishman to stand when someone enters a room. He did so when George entered, and immediately said we found our Chewbacca.

Obviously James Earl Jones was told as well 😉 though he did say he didn't believe it at first..

In the original, after R2D2 is spat out by the creature in the swamp, Luke says "You're lucky you don't taste too good.", but it was changed in 1997 to "You were lucky to get out of there."
At the end, when Vader is striding past Imperial officers, in the 1980 version he said "Bring my shuttle", and in the 1997 version, the line is dubbed "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival."
The shot on Cloud City where a cloud car zooms by while Leia is seen in a window was redone.
And for Boba Fett, they replaced Jeremy Bulloch’s voice with that of Temuera Morrison, for consistency with the prequels.
@robertstallings7820 yup, just wasn't sure if it might be considered a spoiler, so I left that as one of the small tweaks I referred to.

The Uniform Meat was a pretty good product too.
Luke (to Yoda): “What’s in there?”
Yoda: “Only what you take with you.”
This concept is explored further in the “Star Wars: Rebels” animated series.
He also appears in the police station in Trading Places. "It's an opera."
Baby Yoda (Grogu) at the time of this movie should be about 45 years
Okay, first of all, at 7:44, that's not "just like a random guy." That's Captain Wedge Antilles, one of the founders of Rogue Squadron with Luke.
I am sorry to Captain Wedge Antilles

When this came out the snowspeeders had big blue matte lines around them
Fun fact: Mark Hamil had a hemorrhoid while they were shooting the Tonton scenes on Hoth (the snow planet). He fell in love with the Tonton he was riding and ended up naming her "Hemorrhoidia". He convinced George Lucas to let him keep her as a pet. Hemorrhoidia was his beloved pet and best friends with his dog Gloria until she passed away in 2010 from brain cancer.
What is the internal body tempature of a Taun-Taun? Luke Warm.
21:14
Usually a force sensitive individual start their training as a Padawan when they are 8, 9 years.
42:27
Very easy to answer.
Luke were not ready for the burden of knowing the truth.
Empire has very little added. The only real change is the look of the Emperor. Same with ROTJ. There is only one major change. Lucas made most of the changes in the first movie.
Yes, Chewie is a man in a suit, Peter Mayhew.
Cloud City had some additional CGI, but otherwise, yeah.. pretty much all original.
Ehh.. the added CGI song & dance routine in Jabba's Palace is an extensive eye sore in RotJ. I also wasn't crazy about all the extra sarlacc tentacles and such added. The worst part, though, was the Jabba insertion in the hangar from the first film. Not only did it look terrible, and make him look smaller, it also portrayed Jabba as less threatening. Worst change.
I'd say there are a few major changes in Return of the Jedi. One which I like (the ending), the others, not so much.

This movie is where the joke, What's the internal temperature of a Tauntaun, comes from. The answer...Luke Warm
22:32
A Jedi are not allowed to be the aggressor.
Only a defender.
The reason looks different is he was involved in a serious car accident and required facial reconstruction. The 2nd movie incorporated this by him getting smacked by that creature at the start of the movie.
“Luke healed fast”. That’s because the tank of water he was floating in is called a Bacta tank and it heals you quickly.
I saw this on day 1 back in 1980. I was 3 and it was VERY exciting. ❤
Erin: It would be cool if there was a ship shaped like his head.
Challenge of the SuperFriends has entered the chat.
“once again Luke is dead” 😂😂
About the "no bras in space", Carrie Fisher claimed that George Lucas told her that in response to her white dress in episode 4.
For this episode, you might notice that Luke has a mild facial scar following the attack by the wampa (the yeti). In reality, Mark Hamill got into a car crash in between films and had some facial wounds that scarred visibly. Instead of putting him through extensive makeup throughout the filming to hide the scars, George Lucas wrote the wampa attack to give a reason for Luke being scarred. (Also, some of the added effects were the really gory bits in the creature's cave. Before there weren't as many direct views of the monster.)
The ion cannon blasts at the Star Destroyers were original effects.

It would be Howard Hughes' love for bras that would see them popularized in movies he made in the '30s
Bonus Fun Fact!
So that is why they were posted in reverse order with 4,5,6 coming first and then t he 1,2,3
The changes done for this movie are more subtle.
We have to toss out one of the oldest SW jokes… what’s the internal temp of a Tauntaun?
Like warm
Pokémon looked like that creature, I think. I think The Empire Strikes Back was released before the Pokémon franchise.

Saddest part is the actual line, quoted from the movie, is not an inherent spoiler... "No, I am your father".
But the famous line people repeat is "Luke, I am your father". Never said in the movie.
WOW, a George of the Jungle reference!! You are too young to know that! I'm totally impressed!
13:15
Almost everyone yes, except for Wedge.
As Luke and Han will gain higher ranks thru the trilogy, so will Wedge.
If it were up to George they would be gone forever.
or just let her watch these. they're perfectly fine. get over yourself.
Chewbacca is/was a man in a costume. The original Chewbacca actor, who was in this movie, was named Peter Mayhew.
There is an alternate take of the first kiss scene between Han and Leia. It makes Han much less pushy feeling and Leia far more wanting his kiss. Only problem was the kiss "didn't feel like a first kiss" to the director so he went with the take you see.
