- That could have burned my van to the ground, sure was a wake up call. When I wasn't narrowly escaping disaster I was looking for alternative ways to pack all my stuff to and from places like hotels. Oh, and the cats eat wet food.

My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I think the parts where filming Matt cuts to editing Matt are one of my favorite parts of these videos. Stay toasty & give the kitties a good scratch.
You can buy baseball caps at a used clothing store, of at an inexpensive store, or garage sale. Removed the melted plastic part and have a tailor / seamstress sew the new plastic parts on your beloved hats!
I have the same style bag in black. Very well made than your traditional backpacks.
You can buy Tim Tams at most local grocery stores here. I've seen them in Superstore and Safeway for sure.

FYI, the hot chocolate K Cups, are just filled with the hit chocolate powder, like the packets are. You can just open one up and pour the powder in your cup, like you would a packet.
I use the Keurig thing. Just take the stuff out of the pod. It’s the same stuff that’s in the pouch. Hi Penny and Stella
Iam’s or Royal Canin has the best food for senior cats. Hill’s is the one I relied on when I had special needs. Avoid food with meat by products as one of the main or first 3 ingredients.
Stay warm. I know you have lots of love in your life so keep them all close!
I forgot to add you can get these shipped from Chewy online & it’s a little less than in the store. I set up an account to get so many each month so that I didn’t have to remember last minute.
If your cats are having especially noxious smelling poops it could be the food.
"lucky" hat...When U put the hat in the garbage can it was a very, very sad moment for sure...

The exhaust is the scariest part of the heaters. Holy smokes do they run hot.
I ended up running 4 inch drier duct over top of the outlet tube. To provide a safety barrier as well insulation break.

Wow!! The diesel heaters seems the "thorn in your side" in a lot of van lifers! Glad you keep an eye on yours and saved, what could have been a bad situation, your home!
That is because a lot of the vanlifers who are having problems are not paying attention to the details of installation. These heaters can and will kill you if you do a less than excellent installation.
Very true! I installed my own and rechecked every step and every part and connection multiple times over the next two months before I finally turned it on the first time. It worked great! But when the temp in my town hit -40 the exhaust pipe came off the bottom of the heater. When it gets that cold everything gets stiff!! The vibration of driving shook it loose.
The fun of figuring these things out in different climates!!

I've been on the road for decades, and I miss it, but I'm older now, and I'm looking for brinks and sticks,whatever, or senior living. Ya know living on the road,in a van it's everyday the same pick up this ,pick up that, sweep clean, fix this,air the tires, oh man my heater needs fix,I mean never ending. I dug it and it was nothing being young and all etc. Im staying at a friend's on the couch and got the 4sale sign on my strolly van, I ,bought a little Malibu and ready to find a brksandstks,I can at least keep up a little better bc baby after getting my back hurt, it really took out the joy on the road.

man. sitting in a mall, talking to yourself.. you're doing pretty great for an introvert.. I remember when I started doing self-filming for my other channel (disc golf) where I would stand near the teepad on the first hole on the course, making small commentaries for the players that had just tee'd off, with loads of people around me.. felt super weird, to the point where I would walk as far away as possible from other people, despite the fact that the intended audience included the very people I didn't want to speak near.. haha. Now, fortunately, that has changed.. :)

You can use whatever controller you’d like as long as you keep the board with it that’s mounted inside the heater (the one it the controller came with) I have 7 or them and a tool box dedicated to just those with spare glow plugs, screens (both) controllers fuel pumps etc.

Love Timtams. ❤️ i met Australians when I worked in whistler. Told me all about it. And now my sister who married an Australian and lives there sends all different kinds of Timtams. You can buy the regular ones at the grocery store.
Oh and your kitties.. good to get them to eat more wet food. I have a super senior kitty (18 yrs) and her kidneys are the first to wear down. Vet says water and wet food are good. There is special kidney diet food, but my kitty doesn'tlike it. So, i add just a bit warm water to her pate food. So it kinda like apple sauce consistency. 😺

Hello! I am a crazy cat lady and what I do with my fur babies food if it's too dry is I just mix some water into it until it has a creamier texture! Hope that helps!
