Hoowy I’ve recently rediscovered this animatic and I’m still as stunned as I was first watching it. It also seems like would be a really good storyline for a video game? I’d love to play something like that.

That's what I thought!!! It's my first time seeing this video and that would be more devastating tbh. Like the Devil's just making illusions where Lucio gets to spend time with his beloved when rly she's alrdy dead😭😭
I honestly thought that too, but I’m still glad the animatic ended the way it did.
This looks like how Lucio's reverse end would end.
MC would've sacrificed herself to repay Lucio's debts with the devil. But since he is the devil he tricks Lucio to get him hearts in exchange for more time with MC.
And so here is were we combine betrayal because Lucio broke his promise about wanting to fix his past mistakes for MC, codependance, Lucio kills in exchange for a short time with MC like a drug which is then taken away from him by the devil. And the cycle is then repeated over and over again until the final confrontation with nadia.😢😢😢

I used Julian to show that Lucio was rampaging in Nevinon and Nasrin to show that he was in Praka, Lucio doesn't actually kill people in Vesuvia and established a more tyrannical reign there iirc from the info I asked Sav.

@@hoopsies2704 You've made me dislike Lucio just a little bit more when he kills Julian. I know it's just an animatic( a really awesome one at that), but I really love my boy Julian. I was already mad at Lucio for nearly killing him, and now I'm extra mad. >:(
Anyways this is a really beautiful animatic and I love the story. It's really well-made overall. But since I don't have a Tumblr and don't want one, would you mind describing the ending a little more? I'm confused by it.

As for the ending, Eris' creator hid their tumblr anyway ahah~ Basically, Lucio becomes more and more haunted by his murders and killings but still does it with the hope of making the Devil free Eris from her pact (which, if I remember correctly, was made because Eris traded her life to save Lucio from his own pacts).
Eris always had some doubt as to Lucio's whereabouts when she couldn't be around him (seen in the beginning "April please, lower your gun." after she sees the Devil's jar being slightly filled), but it gets confirmed by the end when she sees him all bloody yet happy as he finally sets her free (and most of all, she sees that he filled the Devil's jar with souls). And nothing will change the fact that Lucio commited atrocious crimes and that he'll remain forever haunted by them.
Lucio and Eris have one last dance - both knowing they can't go on because of what happened. Eris hesitates - but Lucio confirms with a nod of his head that he indeed can't keep going. So with one last kiss, Eris saps the little of remaining lifeforce Lucio had, and he dies (after one last speech of love). Eris dies soon after.
The creator of Eris crafted her very meticulously, it'd be a bit tough to explain the more subtle parts of this animatic that are based on some of her features, but that's basically it! This animatic is also my own take of the story my friend wrote, and it has been tweaked in order to fit in this 3 minute timeframe :).
The transitions were so good and clean! At 0:50 It went from "awwww..." to "oh god". This animatic made me feel sympathetic towards Lucio.
'Well that escalated quickly'
Here's the thing. I love Lucio. He's my favorite character in that whole game. There's something about him that I really like, even tho he's a bad guy. I adore him. I appreciate him. I cherish and admire him, but he's bad. I hate what he's done. What he did to the MC and everyone else in the game. Caused mass chaos and deaths of thousands...... but I still like him. He's a spoiled little rich boy that is rude and selfish. Doesn't take anyone else's feelings to consideration. The biggest douche you'll ever meet, but yet I love the fool. He doesn't deserve my time and coins, but I do it anyway. He's just so awful that you can't help but like him.

The way I look at it is... not that it forgives him for his sins, but what if his mother had done more to actually work with him when he was a child? Much like she does with the MC and Muriel... Or if rather than give in to his antics Asra and Nadia (especially) actually called him out on his bullshit? Because I think that’s what Lucio loved about the MC. Sure the MC would go along with his craziness, but would also call him out whenever he went to far or did not take others into consideration; thus showing that the MC was actually looking at HIM! Because from all his antics, all his greed and power lust, is the result of a (admittedly spoiled) but neglected child who never grew up and has been screaming for attention the only way he knows how. And I hate to admit it... it breaks my heart

If they had tried actually talking and beating some sense into him, I can't help but think he might've budge and get along with the others. 🤷♀️
I feel the same you know they always shouted and mocked him for his mistakes but no one ever sticked with him and taught the right ......we know he made some oopsies some a bigger one but he learnt from his mistakes all it needed was patience with him though he was evil and arrogant and did misdeeds still I would love to be with him even in real .
To think i'd find this gem- the whole hour worth of rummaging through my recommendations has proven to be worth it in the end :,))

Dude, this is glorious!! Everything about this is so on point, the micro expressions and the fluid transitions are so beutiful!! I can't get over the tiniest detailes of Lucio stumbling OC the log then looking concerned then grinning triumphantly. That alone just shows so much about his character, and the MC and his interactions are so small(playing with hair, kissing hand then being covered in the eyes, reaching out to each other, taking each other's hand, etcetera) and so casual but you can see it in their faces and their reactions that each little thing from each other means the world to each other. Then the PERFECT transition from falling off the log into Lucio collecting souls, and you can see his demeanor be so different and cold from what we saw with mc. THE SWING OF THE LANTERN WAS SO FLUID!!! The grin of the devil was the perfect touch of ominousness. Then the switch back and forth between with and without mc, until finally he shows up covered in blood showing he was too excited to have finally gotten MC free and couldn't wait a moment longer to pull her away and into his arms. Then MC comforting Lucio in his final moments by smiling and holding his hand, then when the is gone loosing the smile and cracking. It was perfect. Each detail was well executed clean and spot on. Each expression and each body movement was just so clean and precisely accurate!
Aaah thank you so so much, I'm so glad you noticed the small details ;v;, the lantern swing is a part i'm very proud of (it's the continuation of Lucio's movement when he stabs Julian with his sword!). If Lucio's personnality was well captured in your eyes, I'm super happy about it, thank you very much again!

Two years and I still find myself coming back to this animatic. I cannot describe enough how fun this animatic is to watch! April is such a good song for this, and the art highlights an otherwise easily missed darkness to the song, makes it feel like a smooth, jazzy cover over something tragic and dark. Even unpolished, the movements are clear and absolutely gorgeous, the sets are much of the same. I just. Am so thoroughly taken with the story crafted through every choice made here, it's so good. I'm still obsessed.
Honestly I've been scrolling through these comments recently beacuse I didn't know if people would still watch it after 2 or 3 years y'know and I saw comments recently like posted like 1 months ago or 9 months ago which is not that long ago and I thought this animatic was stunning almost made me cry which is rare considering I would not cry for animatics but this one hit me hard Lucio is one of my fav characters and still is to this day like right now I'm rereading his story I think your comment

How the hell did you manage to make me love Lucio in one (1) animatic when I hated him so much????!!
Because oh my god, I absolutely can imagine him doing something like that ! He is so selfish that he wouldn’t be bothered sacrificing and killing one million people to see and save the one he loves!
This is soooo well done, I love it when you see him with the MC, being happy, smiling in the nature, and then a bit come and he kills someone, face hard and emotionless, just like he was a robot, with a single-minded purpose that no one will stop him from achieving, he just kills and kills and kills, remorseless, not caring if he becomes a monster if he can say the one he loves. I especially appreciate the scene where the woman is hiding and you almost think that she will escape, before Lucio appears looking like a monster (and the lack of a mouth and his EYES GOD), I love EVERYTHING in this animatic!
It’s my seventh time watching this in two days and I won’t stop until i watch it AT LEAST a dozen more time.

I especially loved the moments where it would go from lovely moments with (MC) we’re switched on beat to Lucio obtaining another soul- it was a powerful impact every time aaaaa I hope to achieve something similar to this in the future :,^) you’ve become a new inspiration and gotten a new supporter

I discovered Arcana when I was in a real low and then I stumbled over this animatic. I fell in love with the animation and that lamp sucking the souls out inspired a story that I have been writing for months. Let's just say the guys at arcana and you have saved my mental health :D
I never planned on playing Lucio's route, but this may have changed my mind. Goodness the transitions between happy moments to Lucio killing someone was AMAZING!

i’m aware that i’ve seen this like a year late but wow. truly. just wow. i’m speechless at the way you convey and express their emotions so perfectly... and how you express how lucio would do ANYTHING for the apprentice. he would do anything, and everything, just to be with her, even if his thoughts were turned wicked with evil by the devil. the apprentice is the one person he would go to hell and back for, and you show it so perfectly and clear here. also, i might’ve cried a little when julian pleaded for his life, so there’s that :’)

I love this video so much. I love the transitions you made between the scenes of Lucio with mc and the ones where he is killing people, so dynamic and so fun to watch. I love the drawings, the backgrounds and the characters's expressions as well as the details of some little gestures they make because they give them a lot of life (I don't know how to describe it 😅) I think that was what made me teared a little at the end. Such a beautiful video, amazing work ❤❤❤
