I still think he's wrong on both counts, but it is a development at least

Stef Bayoumi how is it wrong if he wants to unlock his superpowers? That’s like preventing a genius from studying, and how is it wrong for homelander to want to give his son the childhood he never had lol that’s what parents do.
You know thinking about that. It kinda looks like Homelander himself is trying to prevent another Homelander by raising his son in what he thinks is the right way
I don't think he even care if she is alive or not, especially by that point since he basically won over Ryan. Stormfront, on the other hand, if given the opportunity, she would gladly do it.
John Wotek ehhh kids are given to overreacting. He may have said “I hate you” to Becca but he’d freak out if Homelander or Stormfront zapped her even in that moment. After all, he told Homelander he hated him too - seems to have gotten over that quick.
The worst part of this scene is that both Homelander and Becca are simultaneously wrong and right. Homelander's point of letting Ryan experience the real world early so it doesn't shock him as he matures is so valid, especially since he knows what that shock is like. Becca knows Homelander has a point, but her counter that Ryan has her to more properly raise him and that a mother's love and care could make a huge difference is entirely right, so much so that Homelander stops to consider it. Still doesn't make Becca's fabrication of normal life or Homelander & Stormfront's intentions for Ryan any less wrong, but for once there is a legitimate ideological battle that Homelander couldn't win w/o doing something Becca couldn't stop or counter.
Homelander also made a point about Becca lying to Ryan, which is important because it's been made very clear that Homelander himself has serious issues when it comes to people lying to him. Becca says she does it because she loves Ryan and wants to protect him, but that's the same reason people have told Homelander his whole life, people have lied to protect him and all it did was make him mistrust everyone. He knows that can happen to Ryan aswell and, assuming he genuinely cares about Ryan, wants to avoid that.
In Becca's defense, she showed a child a film like "Dances With Wolves", so in a way she's trying to show Ryan how terrible the real world has and can be.

And he says that homelander took him and flew to show things... possibly oceans, mountains, things like voughtland etc i.e fun places, which he can actually go and visit but couldn't so far. And im sure he had a momentary emotional burst there, which would subside by the next day like children do, but before that could happen... I have a feeling that ryan is gonna do something next episode, possibly against Homelander and stormfront.
That's what I love about this. We know that Homelander and Stormfront are manipulating Ryan to leave Becca...but at the same time, Homelander kinda has a point, Becca has been lying to Ryan and keeping him away from the real world. Homelander just doesn't want Ryan to end up like him and wants him to have an actual normal life.
It's so fascinating that even though she has no powers and can be absolutely obliterated at any second, Rebecca still feels like she can tell Homelander what to do (as long as Ryan is nearby)
Lol what. Its not because she feels protected by the child being there. She has a personal relationship with homelander and quite honestly you have nothing to lose if the life of your child is in the line
It's not about Ryan being around, she doesn't seem to be bothered about HL pulverizing her either way. I think he fairly acknowledges that she, as a mother, has all the rights to boldly voice out her opinions directly facing him particularly when it is concerning their (“his” ffs) child. Don't confuse this with “overconfidence” because it's not. She's simply doing what's needs to be done and doesn't flinch away a bit. This is to be admired!
I like how the dynamics in the show keep changing. I haven't seen anything that spins stuff as much as the Boys do. Great series. I hope they make more and more.
Lol the names of the homelander movies are hilarious. Homelander origins, homelander rise of a hero, homelander darkest day, homelander brightest night lol
It's really weird to see Stormfront interacting, in a largely positive way, with Ryan. She does well around him, admittedly there are awkward moments but she manages it well and up until the end isn't her usual self.
I hate to say it, but he’s kind of right here. Becca does make a fair point that her son has a loving mother, so it’s not quite like Homelander’s childhood, but ultimately her lies are leaving him unprepared for the outside world.
@FarnsworthIII hmmm, only if it were that easy. Please don't forget this man assaulted her. She's already put up with so much. I guess in hindsight she can see what Homelander is saying has some truth to it but Ryan's situation is a bit different because of her. Personally as a mother I like to think of I were in that situation that I'd want to prepare my son, give him bits as he grows just enough to make him aware but not too much to overwhelm him. To everyone who's saying Ryan is a brat please remember he is a child who's being manipulated and who also had the carpet ripped from beneath him...his anger is understandable.
Yeah but it was Vought's idea in the first place to isolate them both so they can see Ryans development in such area. Like if Vought was not in the picture she and Ryan could have anormal life. She was force into that life like Ryan.
Yes, and Becca's reaction to it was great as well; it happened so quickly she was still talking and holding her hand out at the sky as if they were walking away with him and there was still a chance to remonstrate. It takes a few seconds to process that they are actually GONE and there is nothing she can do. The way her motherly "no"s change to the desperate, helpless kind is great as well.
In a world full of flying men and women, people who can survive underwater, and can run at superspeeds, the most unbelievable thing is that a boy under 12 doesn't know who Pewdiepie is.
For a boomer, she's actually lives well in modern day. She used her Instagram in her introduction, She knew pop culture and even Pewdiepie, NBA2K. Yep, she knows a lot of stuff.
Well it’s really not her fault, Vought was supervising them all the time even if she wanted to leave and show him the real world, Vought wouldn’t allow it.
4:29 he was definitely considering it. for a second the strong chinned mask of the Homelander slipped and he was human for a couple of seconds. until stormfront got in his ear again.
Stormfront said "80 years ago, she looked like that" in reference to a baby. The show takes place in current day, meaning her daughter was born in 1940. My guess is Stormfront was given Compound V shortly after.
Honestly, seeing these comments that Becca deserved it kinda rubs me the wrong way. She didn't have much of a choice. Though Homelander is right in how reality can slap Ryan in the face when he's unprepared. Still I feel bad for Becca. She's a mother who's child was taken away from her. It's normal for a parent to care more for their children then anything. So i don't blame her much.
Ironicaly, homelander is right. Though his son is raised in a nurtured enviroment the boy needs to see the real world. Not some makebelief world, but cruel harsh reality, but also, exciting and adventurous part of the world too. So, not only the boy needs mother but also he needs his father; some one who can guide him around harsh world. However, I wouldn't say HL is the achy-type for father figure.
but imagine learning about all adventurous part of the world while sitting in a cage, that would twist up the kid's psyche real fast. Homelander 2.0 but worse.
Nah, he's been raised with someone who actually cares about him and has been taught love and compassion. While he probably won't grow up to be Superman, he definitely will turn against Homelander once he realises who he is
I do sometimes wonder, in shows that involve a parent having to hide a secret from their child in order for them to to live a normal life and what not, could that parent ever just be honest with said child and help them understand the situation they’re in? Like could Becca ever explain to Ryan so that he understood all about why they were here and as well as him having powers so that he at least understood why his mom did what she did so when Homelander came into their lives Ryan would see him as a threat? Would that be too boring or something?
Also, as pointed out, compound V is still being "perfected." It's quite possible that Homelander's treatment was the first to completely bond to the subject's DNA to the point that its offspring receives its powers.
@Justsum Yungnicca same all showed goes downhill ALLOT or just little but ALL TV SHOWS just goes downhill lets just hope this show trys to stay high up and not going downhills to much
I agree,Homelander is right. When you shelter, shield and coddle kids too much, you're not helping them, you're actually hurting them. If you do that with kids in real life, when it comes time for them to leave home, they won't be ready to deal with the outside world and to be on their own and take care of themselves.
@@sancheezzzy2712 yeah by teaching him about politics, history, math, geography all that. All she hid was all the information relating to supes, which is embedded in every aspect of pop culture.
Too be honest I can see Homelanders point of view. He didn't have any family but he was a lab rat. He stayed in 1 room or place and had someone watch over him constantly. But the difference was that he never had a family to begin with or someone who actually cared about him to an extent of attachment being a mother or a father. That's why he is trying to push Ryan to liking Homelander and set him free because Homelander sees this as keeping him captive but at the same time. Homelander would corrupt Ryan.

I see a solid critic of oversized mother's love here too. She act as an egoist, she want HER son to be with HER in HER dreamy life that only please HER, which is the kind of education that cause a lot of men rised by their mother alone to be... Inconsistent sometimes. A mother's love is as dangerous as it is important to a young men.
homelqnder is right this time he just wants his son be live in real world he wants to spend time with his son and don't want his son to live in luxurious prison
Fried Frog No but the thing is Homelander actually wants his son to not grow up like him. He wants his son to grow up in. The real world and show Jim’s everything. Stormfront is manipulating him though.
Homelander wasn’t entirely wrong. I mean Ryan is definitely getting raised a lot better than how homelander was but Becca is still keeping him from the outside world and not telling him the truth. Which is exactly what they did to homelander as a child. Becca should have at least talked to Ryan about it. Especially after homelander found them.
It’s great that we can actually see both sides of the argument in this and in the end it still manages to give us a room to think who to root for. Becca just wants her kid to grow up normally in a world where superpowered crazies freely roam and take whatever they want, she’s doing everything in her power to prevent Ryan to be the next Homelander. Meanwhile Homelander himself seeks to eliminate the lies surrounding Ryan all his life based on his own experience as a child confined in inshospitable environment and all he wants is a chance at being a father that he never had, and after all that’s happened I think Homelander’s pretty much fed up with all the lies he’s fallen for in every turn and wants Ryan to do better than that. Overall I think Becca’s still the most obvious choice in giving Ryan the proper care to be a decent human being despite his powers, but once you consider everything you gotta admit Homelander does have some fair points of his own in the argument.
In his own sadistic way homelander just didn't want anyone lieing to his son because he was always lied to and he knows what its like but he doesn't understand how why its a lie, im pretty sure it was just to hide from homelander at start but then it was to protect and hide Ryan and even when he tried to understand Beccas point stormfront probably convinced him otherwise
2:25 The BEST part for me is when, after all their horrible history, Stormfront mentions Pewdiepie and Becca quirks an eye at Homelander and he shrugs, like You know what that is? I dunno. rotfl

I know this is a joke but still...
Whole day he was shown things that are cool, which he didn't know existed. And he says that homelander took him and flew to show things... possibly oceans, mountains, things like voughtland etc i.e fun places, which he can actually go and visit but couldn't so far. And im sure he had a momentary emotional burst there, which would subside by the next day like children do, but before that could happen...

Wait, I'm so scared, Homelander is actually in the right in some aspects. Becca is raising him way too sheltered
It's not like she has the choice. She couldn't leave. She just got used to that lie.
She doesn't really have much choice
It's so fascinating that even though she has no powers and can be absolutely obliterated at any second, Rebecca still feels like she can tell Homelander what to do (as long as Ryan is nearby)
Lol what. Its not because she feels protected by the child being there. She has a personal relationship with homelander and quite honestly you have nothing to lose if the life of your child is in the line
Wow this comment is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, it’s simply her worrying about Ryan, she talks the same way even when Ryan isn’t around
Or she’s the mother of his child and knows him on personal level enough to talk freely without fidgeting like everyone else 😂
2:05 homelanders reaction tho😂
In my opinion, Homelander is going to break the boy, only so long until Rian pulls out the 9 and goes brrrrrrr on homelander
Ok but when they flew off, that looked so cool. Especially with Stormfronts lightning.
Becca was such a great mother 🥺

It's really weird to see Stormfront interacting, in a largely positive way, with Ryan. She does well around him, admittedly there are awkward moments but she manages it well and up until the end isn't her usual self.
Obviously because she's trying to groom him
But the way she attacks and shuns his mom out while she's at it is insane
Let’s hope Ryan doesn’t go all Brandon Breyer as the show goes on
Waiting for a Brightburn comment

Stromfront look when Homlander said Wow.... She doesn't have lazer beams but that cuts just as equal..
Becca coddles Ryan too much. In some way, Homelander is right in showing him the world.

Vought land. I see what you did there 😂😂
The actor playing Ryan is phenomenal, rare for child actors.
In a world full of flying men and women, people who can survive underwater, and can run at superspeeds, the most unbelievable thing is that a boy under 12 doesn't know who Pewdiepie is.

4:29 he was definitely considering it. for a second the strong chinned mask of the Homelander slipped and he was human for a couple of seconds. until stormfront got in his ear again.
Wait how come stormfront's daughter didn't have powers or other supes's children?
I think they used a apecial formula on homelander
We don’t know when exactly stormfront was given compound V. She could’ve given birth to her daughter before she was injected right?
Her daughter probably just wasn't immortal. Seems to be unique to SF
She had the first injection, they probably refined it in the decades between the two of them
Stormfront said "80 years ago, she looked like that" in reference to a baby. The show takes place in current day, meaning her daughter was born in 1940. My guess is Stormfront was given Compound V shortly after.
What about m.m wasn't he born with compound v in his blood?

Homelander should be happy his son has a sweet and creative personality.

If Homelander's son can be sup then why Stormfront's daughter couldn’t become sup?
Also, as pointed out, compound V is still being "perfected." It's quite possible that Homelander's treatment was the first to completely bond to the subject's DNA to the point that its offspring receives its powers.
@@printezstroman would that be due to his over exposure to it from a young age?

I agree,Homelander is right. When you shelter, shield and coddle kids too much, you're not helping them, you're actually hurting them. If you do that with kids in real life, when it comes time for them to leave home, they won't be ready to deal with the outside world and to be on their own and take care of themselves.

homelander is a great father we can all agree
If only he was my dad
You're not his mother, Stormfront. You will never be his mother.
3:45 He's right.
A mother must protect a child at any cost. The same way that your mom and every mother around the world should protect their children from harm.
@@ChristianFlowers-k1d No, you're describing an object.

Kids need to grow as people. Outside the creepy perfect bubble.
The thing is I can see both sides of this. She doesn’t want Ryan to become a monster, and he doesn’t want Ryan to live a lie his whole life.
Straight up over protective mom. He was right. There is no lie that's moral. If you love someone, you give them what they deserve: the truth.
Fair, but in this case, there was a monster to protect him from. Kids that young usually can't handle the full truth.
@@saeseetiin5585 If there was no lie, there'd be nothing to "handle" in the first place, but regardless, what you said actually isn't true. The earlier the lie gets revealed the better. Life is much more simple the younger you are, the easier it is to accept even without a complete understanding, not to say he wouldn't understand, but of course, the longer the lie goes on, the more anger and betrayal he'll feel.

On some level Homelander knows he is a very screwed up individual, and he dosen't want his son to turn out the same way.
I love how Homelander is just looking at the video with such concern for his son.
In his own sadistic way homelander just didn't want anyone lieing to his son because he was always lied to and he knows what its like but he doesn't understand how why its a lie, im pretty sure it was just to hide from homelander at start but then it was to protect and hide Ryan and even when he tried to understand Beccas point stormfront probably convinced him otherwise
and thats what happens when you like to your kids man. this epidode had so many meanings in it crazy
