That was one of the most nervous moments in flying - committing to that turn from downwind. Intellectually, you know you SHOULD have enough room, but... Really, though, the trick was staying high enough, extending the downwind as far as the canyon allowed, and making the descent on the approach leg. Really nice footage of Indian Creek. My "never was" experience with Indian Creek had to do with the Sawtooth pack in 1996. There was a wolf pack over in Salmon that was going to be relocated to a larger holding area deeper in the Sawtooths. This was a pack that was never going to be released, but was a study group for wolf biologists out of Washington State Univ. The question was how to move them. I was approached about flying two animals from Salmon (Lemhi County) over to Indian Creek (taking the back seats out, anesthetizing them, and loading them into crates). Unfortunately, they decided to truck them over instead. I never did land at Indian Creek. Seeing this video makes me kind of glad they changed their minds on the air transportation. :)

Thank you! Yes the turn from downwind, base, to final is always weird when you aren't used to staring at a mountain in front of you. My second trip I was more ready for that but it's still pretty weird!
