- Judge Juan Merchan has found Donald Trump in contempt for violating his gag order nine times and ordered him to pay $9,000 for criticizing expected trial witnesses on social media and his campaign page. Trump must remove the seven “offending posts” from Truth Social and the two “offending posts” from his campaign website by 2:15 p.m. today. The judge also threatened incarceration if Trump willfully violates the gag order again.

The terms of his release is that he is NOT to commit any crimes. He has violated this and thus should be held in pre-trial detention for the other cases.
What crime has he committed? A court order is not a law; therefore, violating it is not a crime. And, on top of that, Freedom of Speech is a fundamental, inalienable, Constitutional right that no government official can infringe.

@@AdmoreMethod Contempt of Criminal Court is a crime which is why there were 9 fines. Each pre-release agreement for the other courts were made with the provision that Trump not violate any federal, state, or local laws. Technically even being convicted of a parking ticket (I know Trump doesn't drive) would be in violation of this. What does this mean? It means that the 4 judges overseeing his 4 criminal cases (including this one) can revoke his pre-trial release and jail him until the trial.
At minimum a Show Cause hearing must be done by each judge for Trump to show why his contempt conviction is not a violation of the pre-trial conditions.
This most certainly will fall flat in this court, but might not in the Florida documents case where the judge is "highly favorable" to Trump. The other two very likely will detain him as well.
The bad part for Trump is that he wants to delay, delay, delay and never have these cases go to court. Which if he is detained until hearing will mean that every delay will extend his incarceration. Should also note that once this happens there is legally no way out. There is no such thing as early parole for pre-trial detainment.
He will have to sit in a cell (likely a private cell in some glorified County Club prison) without access to presentations, rallies, or internet. His publicity will be ground to a halt and the only time anyone will see or hear from him is when he eventually arrives in court for each trial.
This means he is in violation of his release condition in all of his other trials ? Right ?

The problem is, if he is thrown in jail for several days, he can apparently appeal this ruling and the trial is paused until that is resolved, even if the appellate court upholds the ruling for obvious reasons. I wanna see this case move along and see his ass convicted ASAP.

This would be like if I were on trial, insulted the judge and mocked the jury, and was fined a nickel per outburst.
More like if you had thousands of people who literally thought you were a god and would do whatever you even suggested should be done and you were very well aware of this. Then you went and posted things to them suggesting that the judge and jury were needing to be "dealt with" somehow. Then you were fined half a penny for all 9 of these potentially life threatening posts. I'm not sure half a penny vs 9k is even accurate unless you are much more wealthy then the average American. Most people can't even imagine what 1 billion of anything actually looks like.

Nope, well not in NY anyway, the contempt was outside the court, so the law states he had to have a hearing and be formally warned not to do it again, next time however jail bound. Each contempt instance is a violation of his terms of pre-trial release in each of his trials. It is now possible for Merchan, McAfee, Chutkan, or even Cannon to order him to jail until his trial is over.
