Yep, Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. If we could just get rid of the danged jagger bushes! Shawn, that was truly a Herculean effort. Which I totally enjoyed, love a good adventure. I am wishing you, Jerry and your families a Merry (and restful) Christmas!
The jaggers are the worst! lol. Thanks for watching and so glad you come back each week. We always look forward to your comments. Funny thing….looked up Hardy Boys books and saw there was a book about the lost mill. 😁 quite fitting here.
I can't get enough of this content guys; these are adventures that I only dream of going on. Thank you, Shawn & Jerry, for this amazing content 💖💖 Great decision to walk the creek, Shawn, that footage was amazing!!!!!!! 👍👍
Great video - really enjoyed seeing McConnells mill - I seen a lot of time on the hillside across the creek from the mill climbing and crawling in the rock crevasses. The old mill foundation was cool, I do remember the PA jaggers - those thickets are tough. Keep up the great videos and have a Merry Christmas.
Thanks for watching! One of the kids wanted to climb in and out of the rocks as well, but rifle season was in for deer and we didn’t want to disturb anyone. Not even sure you can hunt within those boundaries though. Merry Christmas!
Im glad you posted this. These past couple hunts I did I'm reluctant to post because there was nothing really exciting to talk about, just a handful of neat things. Love the history lesson you guys provide too. Stay safe out there! Enjoy the New Year! Merry Christmas!
Sometimes the adventure is all that comes out of the hunt. The advice I can give you is to record everything. We always say that we would rather have the clips and not use them than need the clips and not have them! Merry Christmas to you as well!
I live just a ways North of there. Haven't been to in years, due to a severe disability. Thanks so much for sharing. You've brought a smile to a grumpy old man's face. Great memories. Have a blessed and Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New year. (And many more videos).
Thanks! We hope everyone gets something from our videos. Glad we could take you back. Even if one person enjoys the video we put out is all that matters. Merry Christmas!
You are such a pleasure to watch. So real, nothing phony about this site. I really like the historic feel I get from these segments. Do you carry a weapon. You could run into wild animals in that kind of terrain. I'd hate for you all to be a snack for the mountain creatures. Thanks for the intertainment. Made for an awesome watch. God bless. Merry Christmas And a fantastic New year. Nora
Thanks for watching and the wonderful comment! We try and keep things as real as we can. The only weapons we carry are knives. The animals are more scared of you for the most part. 😬
Thank you, Shawn, for your efforts on the hillside. And thanks for including McConnells Mill! There was a movie with Christian Bale that was filmed there, "The Pale Blue Eye". Thanks for all the history and the great videos. Merry Christmas! ✨️🎄
#1 always have a compass. #2 stop and look behind yourself every 100yds. Things look different when your trying to get back, because you don't have eyes in the back of your head. ( or just listen for traffic noise, lol. I heard it.) Rk. Wear some orange so you don't get shot & helicopter will see you easier if hurt. I liked the little waterfalls, beautiful. Rk.
That looked like a nightmare trying to get through those pickers and shrubs! Can't imagine how that looks in the summer! Cool story and history though, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Got a good idea for ya Snake chapped pants are great going thru no mans land jus where animals go.Deer, Wolves, foxes , rabbits, horses, and snakes along with spiked bushes. Love the amazing footage of life well lived .
I thought about getting thorn proof pants. lol. Wouldn’t mind getting something though to protect against bites. They just can’t be really heavy. Sometimes we walk miles to homesites in the woods.
There definitely is. This year didn’t seem as bad as most years though. Normally we just pick them out and watch for signs of Lyme. If you find them quick enough, no worries! Happy Holidays!
Now you're swinging in my neck of the woods. I skipped school at McConnell's Mill as a teenager. Loaded w/ natural caves created by the glacier. Im too old to hike like you guys but, I carry an ole-man tripod chair w/ me. I've been hunting along the George Washington Trail for the past 2 years in search of my elusive "GW" silver button. Then, I'll retire my coil...
I live about 20 minutes from McConnell's mill. I have 3 or four places within 10 minutes of there I have been trying to get back out to with my detector
I spent today doing the exact same thing, not easy. Anyway, we have an old park in town that was terribly over grown for years until a homeless guy accidentally lite the woods on fire, burned up 5 acres to the dirt, the detecting was amazing after😅
@0:25 I noticed Shawn holding the RC2 next to the water without a neck strap? Safety Sam would be very disappointed. I love you guys but your taking too many risks.
It’s the journey to the sites buried in the forest. Our channel isn’t about hopping out of the pickup and detecting your neighbors lawn. Thanks for the comment and Merry Christmas
As a detectorist, I love the adventure aspect of this channel. It's the journey, not the destination. I look forward to these every Saturday! Keep up the great work! Lee

No way! We will have to check it out. Never knew that. Merry Christmas Carol!
Down the steep hill on wet leaves? 😱NOPE!!! 👍Shawn...
It was actually better footing somehow than dry leaves.
Looked a little slippy coming up? All I know is I'd still be rolling😆Thank you both for taking me on awesome adventures💖💖@@detectingpa8968

My son loves McConnells Mills because of all the big rocks. Awesome place for sure!
Keep searching for that button. You’ll get it. I’d pass out if I dug one. 😂
Let’s go!
Yeahhhhh buddy!!!
Sometimes the path of least resistance is falling 😆😅...
Good point Mona! Lol

Proposed to the wife near that life preserver 30 odd years ago.
That’s awesome! It’s a beautiful place!
I live about 20 minutes from McConnell's mill. I have 3 or four places within 10 minutes of there I have been trying to get back out to with my detector
Will do my friend
Thanks for watching Leo!
That bridge looked like the Emlenton bridge.
This bridge is nicknamed “the jumpers bridge”, and you can assume how it got that name unfortunately. Not in Emlenton though.
I spent today doing the exact same thing, not easy. Anyway, we have an old park in town that was terribly over grown for years until a homeless guy accidentally lite the woods on fire, burned up 5 acres to the dirt, the detecting was amazing after😅
lol that’s a pretty funny story. There’s always a silver lining! Haha.
Have you guys visited Chads Ford or the Brandywine ???
No, we haven’t but we looked it up and looks like a great place to visit. We might have to go this summer. Thanks for the suggestion.
Loved the adventure. Just wish the gristmill paid off bettter. Next time!!
Next time for sure!
I am out of breath watching you do this. Be careful out there. Take care!
Thanks Matt! We take precautions. Hope you have an amazing holiday!
You could make a crop circle in those weeds
You’re not lying! That was brutal. Lol
I know where there are several old mill sites
You need to ask Santa for a detector and get out there to find the goods! 😁😁
@@detectingpa8968 Did years ago. The one across the road from where I grew up still has the rock walls
Love seeing those cut stone walls in the woods.
If your asking Santa, might as well go for it and ask for a Deus II.@@detectingpa8968
It's funny, people ask if we work out. If they did what we do.
And how many times do we hunker down and stand back up. The holes we dig. We could have dug an Olympic sized swimming pool by now! lol
@detectingpa8968 for sure. Love the videos and keep up thr good work
@0:25 I noticed Shawn holding the RC2 next to the water without a neck strap? Safety Sam would be very disappointed. I love you guys but your taking too many risks.
lol! You’re not lying. When I was getting those shots with the drone and the camera, all I could think about was dropping them down off that ledge.
my legs couldnt do all that hiking lol
It was the steep hillsides that was the worst. Would have been an easy hike if not for that. Lol
i have bad legs i go in the woods but i have to be careful cause i might not make it back lol. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Merry Christmas to you as well!
McConnell mills?
Sure is!
Been there with my detector and it is not and easy place to do.
Did you find anything? Must have been a well known spot to detect. Wiped out!
@@detectingpa8968 I found gold ring and some other jewelry and clad but haven’t found anything else in a long time other than a lot of trash.
Meaning no disrespect but Not sure why you bring a metal detector. Your video's seem to be of hiking lately

27 min of just talking nd walking
It was 45 minutes. Be glad I edited it down! LOL
They make a thing called a machete for chopping thir bushes you complain about the bushes I'll trade you I live in Philadelphia
A machete is on the Amazon wish list. Hard pass on Philly. Been there, didn’t like it. 😂
