  • The Macgillivray's Treesnail is an arboreal snail which, whilst not exactly rare is far from common in its natural habitat within the wet tropical zone of Queensland. This is one snail I have been trying to film for several years. I would occasionally see fresh dead evidence of an unfortunate (for the snail) encounter with a Noisy Pitta but even that was seldom. It is certainly one of the prettier landsnails in the Wet Tropics in both shape and colouration. The video shows how it can stretch out moving between leaves high above the ground.

    The shell structure is just the coolest and the soft body is nicely colored as well, really nice find there!

    Had no idea about this species. Like a land Trochus.
