I always supported Popov in all the races against Gary. Don't know why but he didn't like me very much at that time but now, almost 30 years after I have huge respect from Gary Hall and his amazing olympic family.
Maybe I didn't take the time to know Gary better. As it's said, don't judge a book by its cover
