Ch.4 showed this series in autumn 1983 on Sunday afternoons, featuring the great experts of country pursuits of the era. Can you imagine it happening now? Thank goodness for Fieldsports Britain.
Was a gamekeeper and later river keeper, now retired. Jack Charlton was a childhood hero and I had all Archie Coates books, this is a lovely vignette of how it used to be.
First time I have seen this ,jack comes across as someone who is at peace with himself . Genuine guy . The other guy is very knowledgeable in his field . Pardon the pun . A great watch .
Remember this when it was first on TV back in the day, watched the whole series. As a boro lad I've always had a affection for Jack as I loved watching the boro when he was manager, a real no nonsense decent man sadly no longer with us. Rip JACK
It's 30 years since I saw this, it was on video tape at the time as well as the rest of the jacks game video tapes i watched,, thank you so much for taking the time to download this really takes me back to shooting the way it should be, not the over used modern tech that's around today, the old days of field craft seem to be dying out unfortunately.
Eric I'm 15 and I have been brought up with Fieldsports- my father is a full-time gamekeeper and named me after Archie himself, and I too want to become a gamekeeper, so hopefully with more young people who share my passion and thoughts the sport will live on no doubt
Fuking shame Jack the old man archie and the old dog now long time dead never to be replaced.. Thanks Jack for your awesome hunting programmes I watched as a kid in the 70s and early 80s

He's frightfully posh for a pigeon shooter
The countryside is loved and worked by all classes and backgrounds. Beaters sharing a gin with landlords is what it's about.

Marvellous: two Englishman, armed to the teeth and sporting a bottle of Irish Whiskey!
J&B Scotch Whisky is British (made in Scotland, which is a country in northern Britain) and is not Irish. xx
@@pussypostlethwaitsaeronaut8503 I've just re-watched it and stand corrected; similar, at a glance ;)
It’s too bad for Archie that the A.T.V. wasn’t popular back then....
