That’s too funny Jason. Same story as you with this board. I got it from the same source and it was a learning experience for sure!! Too many damn knobs! I ended up giving it to my daughter for her first “real amp” . Still get to hear it almost every day.
The "Friedman polish"! Yes. That's what I here in my be50deluxe. There's definitely a smoothness that I recently want to change. Now I'm looking for that more raw Marshall plexi sound. Great video as always. Your amps sound fantastic.
Hello from Finland :) Thank you for great videos :) i have modded my 1987x and youre videos and "tutorials" have made huge difference in my understanding what to modify and how.
Max if you haven't built your own amp, Jason has an ST1 type board that can be used for Plexi or JCM800's. My last 2204 after a few corrections was fantastic
Thanks man. A MIDI retrofit to a BE100 is absolutely doable...it makes me think I should make the MIDI board available in a stomp box format, back at the amp, that translates MIDI to TRS switching.
@@HeadfirstAmps that would be awesome if you did !! If there was a way for the PRS Archon as well. Their channel switch I think is a 5 or 7 pin connector. Not like the normal trs .
I get the impression that if one is covering classic 60's, 70's and 80's classic and hard rock, that this iteration may be better suited than your other coverage of the 2204 modded amp with the input Fet gain mod with diode clipping. Is that reasonable or would they both fit that application? Its almost time to begin collection specifics for the specific choice of configuration. Its so hard because they all sound great and have their own thing. Thanks for much. Very well done and inspiring
Thanks. Good question...it's off the 4 ohm tap, and at that response setting it would be approx a 100k nfb resistor. It's 27k fixed with a 100k linear pot.
If you could narrow down the "friedman polish" to specific component parts/ values, what would those be? is it primarily a function of the negative feedback? or is it more?
On the Blue channel, when you engage the cold clipper setup, does the amp get a bit quieter? How does that second stage mod affect the overall volume in band context?
Only a touch quieter. I find it suits the parts, as when flicking to that setting I'm after something a little more laid back. It's very marginal though as its more a gain reduction than a volume one.

Yep! I used the same PCB in another build, a 2 channel Plexi / Suhr SE setup in a smallpox head shell. An easier build for sure!
@@HeadfirstAmps Andrea?
Getting addicted to your channel !
i would love to see a video that explains how the power section controls of the friedman deluxe and how it affects and shapes the power section
As always, amazing. I come for the amps, I stay for the playing.

Thanks!
Reduce the 500pf phase invertor snubber caps to 120pf or 68pf and call it a day
This sounds fantastic. Raw, yet precise.
This channel is awesome. Monster amp.

Awesome, nice work. I'm pleased to hear this!
Jason, that amp sounds fucking great. Nice one.
What a monster of an amp, well done
Fantastic video and info man! Love your info on these amps. It makes me understand the different circuits better!

Very cool video Jason! Very informative, thanks for sharing your insights! And killer tones too ⚡️💪🏼
Thanks man
great tones (and playing!) as ever, this definitely has more of that plexi snarl and bite than a friedman
always a pleasure to listen to your viewpoints and to watch u shred it up!
11:50 tone 👌and when you kick in the red squishy goodness.
super mod!
Sounds awesome!
Monsterous! Bravo!!
Nailed that AC/DC tone !! The clarity and stacked sound is killer !! DonI wish you could tweak my amps !!
I need midi in my BE-100 and Archon 100.

Great video!
5$ worth of parts! Unbelievable.
you should make a separate pedal that works as the first gain pot on your blue channel!
That would probably introduce a lot of noise.
Another great video Jason! What tap are you using for NFB and if you had to guess what resistance you like the response set?
Thanks. Good question...it's off the 4 ohm tap, and at that response setting it would be approx a 100k nfb resistor. It's 27k fixed with a 100k linear pot.
That’s a Spicy 🌶 meatball, lol…
Might be time to add an extra gain stage to my 2204 🤔

Did you watch the whole clip?
Where can I get the pcb etc etc. for the be? Sounds great!
EvolveDIY. 4GS board will do it.
@@HeadfirstAmps thank you. And thank you very much for your videos. I recently modded my Marshall to a Jose. I sound killer.
Dude, Malaysia can have that marketed n shipping to 6 more Continents by tomorrow afternoon.....................................................
I think they already have!
QC not up to 4cm duties?
Haven't tried it yet man..the fm3, I thought had been lost in shipping. Was 7 weeks USA to Aus!
Just curious. What is your preferred method? Turret board, Eyelet board, PCB or point to point wiring? And why?
PCB for consistency, low noise and easier to build.

Is the power amp basically a stock 2203?
Pretty much, with the exception of variable Depth and NFB.
