@@TheParrottBros Hi, it feels well connected to me, especially at speed & bends. Only slightly clunky when travelling slow & steering over bumps etc. Much fun for summer, top down!
I still have my 05 DSG 3.2 Quattro. It’s the best TT ever made. It’s getting to the point of me wanting new headlights, and I replaced the instrument cluster for the dreaded red screen issue, and redid the headliner since mine had been parked in the weather all this time. But aside from a recent fuel pump replacement the car ran as my daily driver for 15 years without a single repair. I don’t race it, although I do enjoy its acceleration and impeccable handling on twisty roads. ( no one in a RWD car can keep up with the Quattro 3.2 DSG TT on winding roads) Reasons to get the 3.2 are- 1, that extra 25 horsepower is something a car this heavy NEEDS, but the real boon is the low end torque. The 3.2 DSG will shift into 6th at 35 mph if you are not driving it in sport mode. As a result, mine gets around 30 mpg. 2, the naturally aspirated 6 is more durable, and has a timing chain rather than the serpentine belt that will fail without notice. You can Check the timing of the chain to see if it’s stretching with a diagnostic. 3, the 3.2 DSG Quattro has a very understated exhaust note in ordinary drive mode, but when manual shifting or in sport mode, the engine comes to life with a deep satisfying growl that is not obnoxious or overt. Just loud enough to draw positive reactions. The best sounding TT by far, and you don’t have to do a thing to the exhaust to get it. The 3.2 Quattro sLine DSG is best when its as built. The audi engineers did a great job of balancing performance with durability in tuning the car. If you don’t mess with it, it will retain excellent performance for 150,000 miles as the engine is tuned to match the transmission and vice versa. The DSG will simply not LET you lug or overrev the engine. And every shift and throttle blip will be perfect and faster than any manual. 5, the DSG is still the best transmission I have ever driven. Effortless in switching between paddle shifting manual and auto shifting automatic operations. Tap the downshifter and floor it and the car leaps forward at almost any speed. And the sLine suspension was tuned to ride perfectly at 100 mph. If you can find one that was just left at factory spec, without the chipping, goofy exhausts or add ons that so many folks ruin their TT with, then it’s likely in solid mechanical shape. But beware the ones that young men drove hard and dicked around with to increase horsepower, or exhaust noise. I bought mine 2 years old off a lease with only 14k miles. Half original sticker price. It had been leased by a young woman, and like most young women she did not race the car or play the launch control nonsense… she just drove it at a high rate of speed everywhere she went for 14k miles. Which happens to be the profile for perfect break-in of the 3.2/DSG combo.

Great video and nice to see a 3.2 finally getting some representation. :-) My feelings on the dynamic merits of a DSG 3.2 are well documented. If you could move the engine 8 inches back in the chassis it would almost be as dead and inert as a 225. As it is, a 3.2 is an understeery, thirsty bugger, prone to mechanical tantrums and DSG hissy fits. A manual is slightly less grim. They do sound good though, and the instant torque makes them a bit more predictable on part throttle. I think of a 3.2 as the Pavaroti of the TT world. Audi clearly agreed with me as the QS went back to the 1.8t rather than keep flogging a 6 pot horse. And don't get me started on VR6 timing chains. Tongue (mostly) in cheek here. :-)
😂😂😂 I can’t argue with that, it’s a great car but does have its downsides it all depends on what you like and how much you want to save it haha. It’s different. If you went to a tt meet there would probably be 90% turbo, and a couple v6’s so in that scenario they instantly become that more unique car. Plus always one to listen out for when leaving 😂😂
@@TheParrottBros Yup. "Wookie" noises make up for a lot of faults! I suspect the real solution is to have a VR6 AND a 225. Sixes are special. Various Nissan GTRs spring to mind. Straight six Jags. TVR Speed Six. The list goes on. When BMW went to a v8 powered M3 it lost it's soul. E46 M3s are collectable for that reason. The v8 M3 (E92 I think) is more like a muscle car. Fast... but no one loves them. The 3.2 TT is loved, despite it's limitations. And that's good enough for me. :-) Keep up the good work, Dom.

That looks really smart. The VR6 sounds great with the Scorpion exhaust! Points well made about the engine/gearbox and costs involved for repairs. My DSG 3.2 has had a litany of misfire/non start problems that seem to point to chain stretch. Checking on VCDS shows measuring blocks within tolerance. I have replaced cam sensors and crank sensor. Latest issue was a coil pack melting, blowing a fuse and bringing up the flashing ‘PRNDS of death’. A lot of the time the car starts/runs OK, other times it starts and runs like a bag of spanners. Turn it off, restart and it runs like a sewing machine. It’s really frustrating, so I have decided to replace chains, solenoids and any other worn bits around that critical area. Watching ua-cam.com/users/hashtaghumblemechanic has given me renewed confidence in doing this. Wish me luck.🤔
Hi Nick I had the gearbox malfunction error on my previous A6. Its worth checking the connection to the mechatronics unit from the wiring loom. Ensure its not got any rusty connectors as these are often part of a can gateway for other parts of the loom. If early signs are shown, some special contact cleaner can be used to clean them up
There is certainly something not right, are you logging any faults besides a multiple of misfires? The worst part about the chains is the man hours required to do it. It’s not a quick Job as requires so many things to be done. Good luck and let us know how you get on
@@TheParrottBros the fault codes seem to vary from one day to another. Generally they are 16684 random multiple cylindwr misfire and then list cylinders where it is occurring. The frustration of it all is that it will run sweet as a nut for days and then suddenly revert to 3/4 cylinders. Give me a carburettor, coil and distributor and I would be happy. I love the car but this fault is driving me mad.

@@TheParrottBros Hi.. normal day to day town driving is fine, you can keep the revs low (and get a bit more mpg). On the open road, or for a fast overtake it is tremendous.
@@dionysus101 yeah I can imagine and all with a beautiful sound track, what’s the feel like on the steering and cornering etc. Does it still feel well connected or is some of that lost for comfort
@@TheParrottBros Hi, it feels well connected to me, especially at speed & bends. Only slightly clunky when travelling slow & steering over bumps etc. Much fun for summer, top down!
@@dionysus101 looking forward to driving one, my dad collects his mk2 on Wednesday
Love a v6. I've got a 05clk 320 it sounds like a v8 everyone turns its got a loverly burble
Enjoyed that. 😀
👌🏻
I still have my 05 DSG 3.2 Quattro. It’s the best TT ever made. It’s getting to the point of me wanting new headlights, and I replaced the instrument cluster for the dreaded red screen issue, and redid the headliner since mine had been parked in the weather all this time. But aside from a recent fuel pump replacement the car ran as my daily driver for 15 years without a single repair. I don’t race it, although I do enjoy its acceleration and impeccable handling on twisty roads. ( no one in a RWD car can keep up with the Quattro 3.2 DSG TT on winding roads)
Reasons to get the 3.2 are- 1, that extra 25 horsepower is something a car this heavy NEEDS, but the real boon is the low end torque.
Stunning car 👍👍
It is one of the good ones, know anyone else with a nice tt? hint hint haha
Got one of these with a scorpion non-catback exhaust, let me tell you, the sound is just so insane, if you do not have horns already, you will grow them driving it LOL :) (beautiful car you have there bud)
Great video, I'm thinking about taking the plunge as an investment but for daily use as well. Just worried that it will be a money pit! Can't get passed that noise though
Thanks and providing the gearbox and chains are ok. The car should be pretty steady. Just find one that’s been well kept and you’ll be fine
I've been pining for one of these but since I live in the US and there were no manuals available here I'm wondering if anyone can hypothesize on the feasibility of manual swapping a Mk1 3.2?
I do miss my V6 man. Same colour as well. Brilliant Red
Snap, i m glad i had it and sold it but miss that noise on a daily basis
Hi hun. 3 weeks ago I bought myself 2006 1.8T automatic 😜48000 on the clock genuine miles, all her history and servicing came with her ( notice I say HER coz I'm a TT girl)This beauty has been nowhere and in 6 years she'd only done 1000 miles 🤪. Her colour is grey more like dark silver but she's beautiful and her body work really is mint. I'm getting her remapped sometime soon. One question tho.. She has a bit staining on her exhaust tip can you suggest how to clean it to come up like brand new... Can I send pics of her to you??? And how??? Cheers huni. Love your vlogs😁👍👍
Hey Denise the TT girl 🙋, thanks for commenting, sounds like you got your self a right GEM! yeah sure drop me an email at dom@theparrottbros.co.uk and i can tell you how to sort the tips out no problemos
Hello sir I just started watching your content and I was just curious with a 3 in downpipe do you need to get a new dogbone mount my car only has 87,000 miles on it so I am not to if the bearing is crazy worn or not
Are you on about a 1.8t one? usually they recommend a new dogbone either new or powerflex as the new 3" flexi doesnt have as much movement and an old dog bone can make all the difference
@@TheParrottBros yessir I have a 1.8t 225
@@zacharylipke9488 Yeah man, be worth doing if has play, will make gear changes nice too
@@TheParrottBros any recommendations as for which I should buy? Also thank you very much for your time

Hi guys, thanks good Video. I’ve got also one in papaya orange coupe …….a beautiful car with 139000km ! Cheers from Switzerland
Ooo lovely colour i am very envious!!
Good vid bro keep that up! 👌
Thanks buddy 😀
я так жалею что не купил второй комплект таких бу дисков за $400... интересно, они имеют один размер, или есть вариант 9j?😅
Is the front bumper splitter stock or aftermarket? Looks really nice.
There stock on the 3.2
bumper is stock the rubber slitter trim is aftermarket yes
@@TheParrottBros you dont happen to know where the front splitter can be purchased, seen a reply from the owner saying its a cheapo ebay one, though cant seem to find one like it on ebay, cheers
@@stub7373 I’ll ask Tom, think it came on the car when he brought it. It’s probably one of those ones that’s pictured in a roll on eBay. If your putting on a 225 it won’t look the same as bumper is slightly more rounded
V6 for me as easily tunable for 600 ish on a stock block when boosted
Boosting a v6 gives the best of both worlds. Sound and speed 😍
Craig i’m with ya on that- while a 225 is cheap to get to 270bhp, the v6 is cheaper to get north of 400
And much cooler
Great video and nice to see a 3.2 finally getting some representation. :-)
My feelings on the dynamic merits of a DSG 3.2 are well documented.
Keep up the good work, Dom.
@@crikeymikey3691 don’t even get me
Started on nice sounding cars I could fill a 10 story car park 😂. I had an old e36 m3 and it sounded awesome, the v8 m3 is nice but like you say it’s a different animal entirely. Thanks for the comments appreciate it
@@TheParrottBros E36 M3 and the Mk1 TT have a lot in common. Over-engineered, pretty much bomb proof and under apperciated in their own life time. Can't imagine anyone getting teary eyed over Teslas. :-)
Nice car. For me a tunned 225 all day over the v6
It’s certainly not for everyone but most / all can appreciate the beautiful sound
@The Parrott Bro’s yes the sound is very sweet a turbo v6 would be an animal of a car 👍
What lower front lip spoiler is that?
It is a universal splitter from Amazon, it comes on a roll and you just stick it down, I thought it looked great to
Thank you very much. @@TheParrottBros
Hi Nick
I had the gearbox malfunction error on my previous A6. Its worth checking the connection to the mechatronics unit from the wiring loom. Ensure its not got any rusty connectors as these are often part of a can gateway for other parts of the loom. If early signs are shown, some special contact cleaner can be used to clean them up
@@MotorMonkeyz thanks for the tip. Anything is worth trying!!
There is certainly something not right, are you logging any faults besides a multiple of misfires? The worst part about the chains is the man hours required to do it. It’s not a quick
Job as requires so many things to be done.
@@nick1of2 yeah newer cars are overally complicated somewhat haha. You could well have a bad sensor that goes out every so often causing this
Had same engine in a passat estate
Fantastic engine, goes on and on
Awsome thing
Thank you
Love the sound of a VR6. Lovely car, just a shame Audi decided to badge it as a 'V6' in the TT.
It’s funny isn’t it, I bought this car not long ago as loved it so much, with a non res exhaust it’s heaven
225 1.8 plus a remap is faster and handles much better much less understeer
But it does not sound as good 😂 I can't talk as i have a 225 which i have invested copious amounts of money into. believe it or not there is some people out there who dont modify cars! i still dont understand why but each to there own haha
Mk1 forever guys.
A 3.2 garage car for 4k? Who is so stupid to sell for that price?
