Legend has it that wheeling it for a prolonged time will starve the front cylinder of oil turning it into a SFV325.
Yet not one video of it happening exists anywhere.
It was the first generation this would happen to, there is supposidly an aftermarket fix ,that I have not done. Suzuki fixed the problem with the second generation. But yes it was a very real thing.
It was an issue on earlier carburetor versions, suzuki fixed it by adding fuel injection on later versions
@@wilmawife I was surfing around forums the other day about this. Apparently there is a wheelie school that uses 1st gen SV650 (curvy frame) and that bike has survived hundreds if not thousands of hours up on one wheel. The poster said he asked the school about this issue and they have NEVER heard of it. The guy had videos and photos and everything lol
It's not a legend. Just read the SV650 Riders Forums.
You must be the only one that said it was a good looking bike. Suzuki took such a kicking with this model they went back to the SV650 two years later.
Right. I'm not sure how they messed up the original. I read that Suzuki made the Gladius more female-friendly. Shorter seat height. The 2009 is offered in an ugly blue and white color scheme.
Tell me you've never seen one in person without telling me you've never seen one in person.
looks better than the original
I had 2009 in light green. She was beautiful. 3.4 0-60 . I changed the pipes and windshield to a bigger one. Did loads of miles a lot of long trips
Been riding most of my life.Had a hell of alot.just bought a 2010 sfv.And alot of bikers don't like them.hand on heart I love it.its light.the gearbox is smooth. The engine pulls well.the brakes are good. It's comfortable. It's alot of bike for little money.130mph.Dont care what people think.
Would you recommend this to someone who's looking to step up from a GS500 (after two years, had a CBF250 before that) and is looking for a commuter with good amounts of torque but also something to carve the canyons with on weekends on a budget?
Mate I'm the exact same! I'm currently fly on a GS500 and I just bought an SFV650. I reckon it's a great step up as full power models are around 71HP
Grom 125 cc would be a great upgrade
best "railer" ever made.. a good rider will absolutely smoke a liter bike on twisties and mountains on a beefed up sv650.. first Gen, drop in full Yoshi exhaust, air kit, breather mod, Gsxr fork mod and bump it up to 82hp.. if you can ride, nothing will catch you on twisties.. best handling bike around.
How do you bump it up to 82hp? Take out the cat?
edit: you're right it's very easy to outpace sport bikes in the twisties. But the rear tire profile does suck a bit if you lean over past the pegs.
82 hp!? Lol yeah right unless you are gonna bore out the cylinders!!!
@@teslaedison6236 not true, I have a 300bhp turbo gladius and I didn't bore the cylinders. ;D
It got slated but I think it looks great. Good deal...
Question , is this motor cycle still people using it in the US?
Cuz I have head they pull it.
be careful doing wheelie with these... amazing bike
Work fine
Ha, you don’t use your mirrors much do you?
Hmmmm... Can I buy one of these if I don`t want to do wheelies?
for sure man, ive got one and its very tamable. power when you want it :)
I'm in the midst of trying to get an '09 one of these from a guy one state over. Stupid coronavirus making it nearly impossible to get even temporary tags, so i can get it back home legally
I bought an 09 all black one in Houston right before covid hit as my first bike. It’s a real fun bike and I really enjoy it.
Depending on the state, they'll give you time to get it to the house.. just make sure you have insurance and a bill of sale with you.
I got my hands on an 09 few weeks back, its my first big bike and its a love affair, dont tell the gf.
my brother only rides these. I'll have one once a bit more seasoned.
How are things looking now?
Is this a review or a sales pitch
He never said it was a review
"5" or less"....wtf?
I love your video but there is one thing you don't drive a bike your ride a bike
One hopes whoever bought this bike got a free for seal replacement.

Where’s my words of wisdom?
What's the top speed tho?
140-145
145 with a windscreen after approx. 2mi, otherwise 135.
120 if you don't tuck at all.
edit: my gps reads around 136mph at indicated 140'ish.
Mine tops out at 120 even tucked how do I go faster!?
@@str8lurkn133 Lose weight.
@@forkthepork i think I need a tune or some.
The wheelies is not my thing
Ew the Gladius
