For anyone who is looking for a cheaper raw alternative, I suggest freeze dried raw food, it looks like kibble but because it was freeze dried it never lost the nutrients that was originally in the food. 🐶

It’s hard when you live on the 17th floor in an apartment in NYC.
I have to wait to take her outside until she’s had her 16 wk parvo shot. We’ve had dogs visiting in the last year. We are using a potty tray. These are great tips, thanks!

Rachel! I love all your tips! I have been training dogs my whole life but incorporating your advice has already made a WORLD of difference! Question - do you have any advice on training your own service dog? Or teaching them how to behave in public without getting distracted? In March, it was declared that people could train their own service dogs so I wanted to know if you had any advice!! Thanks :)
hey rachel so my puppy is just over 14 weeks old and we have had him for just over 2 weeks now! he usually has 1 accident everyday in the house but other than that he is very good with using the bathroom in our front garden! he never barks or wines in his crate during the day or at night! we dont have a gate or any security in our back yard but in our front garden we do have a fence but either way our pup is super good as he never runs out! and hes also super relaxed! he looks alot like wolly when he was younger but hes just a bage colour!
We’ve been working with your wonderful videos since July 3rd when we brought home our 7-week old Goldendoodle Scout. Potty training and crate training great; not doing great at separation. I’m training her to be a working dog and truffle hunter like our older chocolate lab. I see you are now in Southern Oregon. We are on a farm in Talent. Prepping for the “Grand Truffle Festival” next winter in Eugene. Would LOVE to connect with you about scent training. You would be such a gift to our trainers at the Jordan competition next January. Hi Rachel :) I’m preparing for caring for a new puppy and your videos are a godsend! I’m planning on following your one step potty training for the first week I will be taking off when the puppy arrives. Unfortunately after that I have to go back to school and I don’t really know what to do. I guess my best bet would be using potty mats when I’m not at home, but wouldn’t that reverse all the training of not going potty in the house? What do you suggest? When you say confine them in their early stages how many months are you referring to?
So I’ve been following your videos religiously and hand feeding / working with my 13 week old puppy since she was 8 weeks old. I just recently started teaching her “paw” by holding out my hand and giving her food when she offers her paw. Is this counter intuitive to the “gentle” command? Is there a way to teach the paw command that is slightly different from the “gentle” command? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I love your videos they’ve been so helpful ❤️
Rachel (or someone else, i’m desperate) please help. I’m going to bring my little puppy home on Saturday along with my family and we won’t be home until midnight because it’s so far away. I feel like crate training at night when everyone is tired is probably not the best idea so I was planning to sleep on a mattress on the floor next to the crate (possibly with the crate door a little open) so she won’t be traumatized for life and never want to go in the crate again but is that okay to do? Any other ideas/suggestions?
How do I get my dog used to being indoors and not running free outside? He was a stray and he's super smart, but he's been wandering free on his own for a while. And when we're outside, he has a technique to get out of any collar. He broke free 3 times in 2 days. And almost broke free today.

Dog peanut butter, kibble, carrots, chicken, blueberry, and or all of them combined! And freezing the Kong is also a great idea.

As long as the peanut butter doesn't have too high of sodium content, and no artificial sweeteners in it your pup should be fine! How's it going?
Rachel...I'd LOVE your advice! We're getting a goldendoodle around the end of Oct. 😃 and after the first few days, we'll have to go back to work. 😢 What is better...having a trusted caregiver come over our house 1-2 times a day to let him/her out to go potty (and get lunch), OR bringing the puppy over to the trusted caregiver's house where the puppy will have eyes on him/her all day (in spite of a different environment)? I feel more comfortable bringing the puppy to the caregiver's house...except that s/he has to learn a different environment. ???🤷♀️??? Thoughts? Thank you!!

What do you do when they just want to eat chunks of grass or try to eat rabbit poo :/ i have a 12 week golden retriever and he uses bathroom just fine but wants to eat rocks or chunkss of grass and i live in apartment so theirs ofc other dogs that use the bathroom and I can’t avoid.

how can i let my puppy stop eating grass, i take him outside after having his meal and once we reach the garden he keeps eating grass and anything on the ground i keep telling him to leave it and i have to take it out of his mouth and he keeps doing it! he’s 10 weeks old BMD

How do you train your puppy if he’s not so crazy about food or treats? And he also struggles to eat his food because he would rather play. I always have to put him in his playpen when he eats, but it takes awhile for him to do so. And also, he likes his food really soft. How do I get him use to hard kibble?

Ugh girl I'm in Central Oregon. We can't even run the AC because it's sucking in SO much smoke.
But puppy related! I have a 10 week old pup I've had for almost 2 weeks. I've been making her get up about every 2 hrs at night to potty. She is getting to the point where she does NOT want to come out of the crate at night and barely pees when I do get her out. She hasn't had any accidents in her crate and only one inside. (My fault. She was by the door and I took too long to put my shoes on. She tried!). Do you think it's too early to extend her potty trips at night another hr or two or am I just asking for trouble in a puppy so young?
Try extending it by 30 minutes or so and see if she is still successful and then extend it from there if she is still reluctant to leave the create and is still not having accidents.

Rachel, we do crate training with my new pup. Do training in front, bring his breakfast inside (with crate door open), give lick stick when we leave for work. Making “Disneyland”
HOWEVER, When it comes to napping in his crate, he does not stop barking and whining for us. I know he needs to nap & he fights them like no other. I don’t want to keep going in the room and saying settle because it will keep him going. Any suggestions????
I know I'm not Rachel but I thought I could offer a suggestion! I have had some success with letting the puppy fall asleep outside the crate and then putting them in the crate while they're asleep. Then they get used to waking up in the crate and realize it's not so scary.
I’d practice short durations during the day in the crate and end on a positive note - it takes a TON of practice for some pups several times a day
Be sure your pup has plenty of mental stimulation & exercise ahead of time so their brain is tired ❤️

How can I get my puppy to sleep longer at night. She gets up between 5 am and 6 😩 I’m exhausted due to I have a full time job and full time school . Any tips please. By the way my schedule is 10 am school into 1pm abs job hours are 3pm in 11pm .
Taking him out for a walk or getting him to run around outside and play right before bed usually helps my dog sleep longer. And maybe don’t give him too much water during the night.
