Ebay definitely does not protect the sellers from dishonest buyers. I will never sell on Ebay again. They have allowed the buyer to switch my raw book to upgrade theirs book then they open a case against the buyers . And they always side with the Buyer. Im done!!!!!
@GLP_COMICS I got ripped of.by a seller who instead of an expensive book sent me a worthless comic. Ebay gave me the run around and I never got my money back
I’ve been with eBay since 99 or 2000. I remember when fees were ultra low. They didn’t take as much from you on sold goods. Same reason I haven’t sold on eBay for the past 5-6 years now.
Mercari just got rid of their seller fees here in the USA. This is coming here for sure. This is going to hurt all the small independent websites that compete with EBay.
I think buyers premiums vs final value fees could potentially allow sellers to keep more from the sale price. Currently ebay takes around 17% when you factor in the final value fees from the TOTAL SALE PRICE (this includes fees paid for shipping and taxes).
I'm so confused where people get the percentage of the fees from. I just sold something & the fee came out to 62.3% . I don't think I will make anything after I pay for the label.
Imagine buying groceries from Walmart and they say “that’ll be $200 and a $20 buyer PREMIUM” 😂 I think its weird charging a buyer a “premium”, leaves a nasty taste in my mouth as a consumer
Yeah, Mercari did it... only to add those other fees to the buyer end. As a seller on both it seems to have flipped what was once Mercari selling for more only to have the sale prices plummet over there.
Ebay can't do away with a fee model...impossible. They are a publicly traded company. If Shareholder value is touched, the leadership will be replaced. Folks want to see year-over-year growth.
Mercari did this earlier in the year. I get way more views and likes on Mercari than Ebay but way less sales. Basically have to offer free shipping just to offset the fees the buyer is paying.
If this change happens wouldn’t it affect comic book values across the board from sites such as GoCollect because they base their values on auction sale price?
Im in the UK, most comics dont sell, most comics are buy it now, many are overpriced and ive seen the same comics on there for years. Adding a buying fee is ridiculous, no one will buy anything
I think you are right and people are tired of being treated like crap from this corporate companies that don't really care about us. Buy your comics from trusted people who care about you as customers and will offer you better deals and lower fee's that would be my advice.
Most savvy buyers will consider taxes and shipping when buying something, but not ALL buyers will do that. On the other hand, ALL sellers are 100% aware of the fees and list their items accordingly.
Well at least they’re trying. When you buy something from Mercari now like comics, you get charged a payment processing fee and a service charge fee and sometimes they’ll be so high, it keeps me from buying comic books from Mercari
I love finding rare stuff on eBay that you can't get anywhere else but if they start charging the buyer a fee I'm done with eBay also already have to pay for shipping already have to pay taxes it'll be way too expensive than to pay a fee and I have never purchased from heritage because most times the auctions and all-time high and then you have the 20% fee for the buyer just crazy I never understood why anybody purchases from heritage
If people acted rationally, they would know how much they plan to spend and do the math to work out how much they can pay to stay under that number including taxes/fees/buyer’s premium. Same thing should hold for sellers and what they anticipate to receive for a book taking into account seller fees. Changing the fee structure may impact the price tag but should not impact the amount that buyers pay or sellers receive if people are acting rationally. The $64 question: Do you believe that people act rationally?
It's terrible news, they are replacing the fees with a buyer fee in 2025, they are screwing us small businesses big time here... Especially us in collectibles where we compete with private sellers
That would be crap if ebay does both. Heritage incentivizes by having no consignment fee on some items. I think at the end of the day, desirable stuff won't take a hit. Stuff like cheap funko pops will even though it's pennies so it's illogical. The is completely irreverent with rare stuff and a lot of heritage items end less what ebay is selling them for. At least in video games
@@michaelsharkey4255 Ah gotcha. Maybe they should just split the cost between the buyer and seller.. like the traditional auction houses where they take a cut from the seller and also the buyer has to pay a buyer's premium.

You should sell on our website. We give the seller more control

Ya I remember being on eBay when fees were like 7-8%
I tried Ebay for a bit, didn't like. Tried Whatnot for a bit, didn't like. My LCS treats me well, I'll stick with him. And its a local business.
But admittedly, that situation will change once I become a seller in around 6 years (retirement).

I find sellers I like on eBay then buy directly from the seller's site for less...sometimes much less.
@@KAOS4EVER1 good idea
I don't shop on sites with buyers' fees. You're 100% correct.
Ebay is trash.
They don't protect their sellers.
I stopped selling items on there long ago
Ebay is the new blockbuster.
Imagine buying groceries from Walmart and they say “that’ll be $200 and a $20 buyer PREMIUM” 😂
I think its weird charging a buyer a “premium”, leaves a nasty taste in my mouth as a consumer
You aren't buying your groceries on an auction site. Walmart is making a profit on stuff they bought. Ebay isn't buying your item

Exactly I think this is there long plan to charge both sellers and buyers
Mercari did this earlier in the year. I get way more views and likes on Mercari than Ebay but way less sales. Basically have to offer free shipping just to offset the fees the buyer is paying.
Yep, that is my experience as well.
I still have to pay fees??

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ebay here make some changes in response to COMC in cards.
Im from the uk, it’s a lot easier for buying than selling, it could be to make it for the seller more easy to list and sell.

A lot of people out here aren't trustworthy either. It's kind of rough out here.
@@bandoogiemanz There are a ton of Good You tubers you just gotta find them and spend some time watching them and get to know them better first.
eBay's fees are 13.25% Plus $0.40 per transaction
Sounds similar to what Mercari does. Their fees are ridiculous for buyers. You buy a comic for $100 and after fees it’s like $140
Most savvy buyers will consider taxes and shipping when buying something, but not ALL buyers will do that. On the other hand, ALL sellers are 100% aware of the fees and list their items accordingly.
Agreed. Some popular auctions will still go crazy. So it would help the seller

My wife is heavily involved in a FB group for US based Vinted users. There is a US presents I believe.

Because people put their best stuff on Heritage. Funny is say you are done. If the items do sell for less it evens out

I think at first people will be confused. But later adjust

Only a year late to this conversation. Mercari has been doing this since last year.😮😅
If Ebay starts buyer fees I will no longer purchase comic books from Ebay
eBay is taking us to the Cleaners!!!
UK? Maybe put that in the title..
Add a buyer's premium, and I will bid less, and buy less. That is all.
What about Mercari.. they got rid of their fees... so eBay needs to as well imo.
So Mercari passes the cost to the buyer now. It does help the seller but it’s way more expensive to buy from the platform.
@@michaelsharkey4255 Ah gotcha. Maybe they should just split the cost between the buyer and seller.. like the traditional auction houses where they take a cut from the seller and also the buyer has to pay a buyer's premium.
There really isn't an advantage. The buyers end up having to lower their prices to offset the fees the buyers have to pay.
nice fox force 5 shirt
It’s forcefive. It’s a short film that came out. I interviewed the guy early last week.
Sellers will have to lower prices
They won’t
That's a good thing for me mate!
This is bizarre. 15% and 8% are vastly different. I'm worried about your mental well-being lately. I hope I'm wrong and you are well.
That 8% is what those other sites charge. eBay didn’t state how much its buyers premium will be
Click bait title - nothing is free - if you do auctions in person or online there's fees - period
Our auctions are free for dealers to run their own auctions on our website
Solid click bait
Sellers can lower prices 10 % imo
They aren't going to. You can say I'll just go to facebook but ebay has a certain type of cliental so it won't matter
I owe them $500
