The running gag is Joakim "hates" Swedish Pegans because he felt he didn't put in enough effort to write it and because it is ALWAYS requested live, even if it's not on the set list, to the point where Joakim gets annoyed that people always wanna hear that song when they have older or newer songs they would like to play.
But it's cycled back around that Joakim likes how popular it's gotten to the point where him disliking it is joke within the fanbase. So when fans (or Tommy, as it's his favorite Sabaton song and he likes to play it whenever possible, and why he's doing this history episode) request it, or in Wacken's case get a famous Cellist to tease it, Joakim puts up a mock refusal and then gives in to sing it.
Proof of how much the fanbase loves it live, they played it TWICE at that special show they did in Denver when the Judas Priest tour had to get postponed due to Richie Faulkner's emergency heart surgery. There's a fan-cam (decent quality) of the entire 2-1/2 hour plus show - don't know if you'll want to watch it to avoid future reaction-spoilers, but I'll drop the link here anyway, it's definitely worth seeing at some point in time. Scandinavians are actually proud of our Viking legacy.....The world was there for the taking, and these badass brave men went and took it ....That was how it was then .
like all proper critical moments in history when a singular culture leaves a mark , the vikings took it on more ways then one...by Axe in some places and by trade or exploration in others
Attero Dominatus is a song about the Soviet invasion of Berlin. It hits so hard, listening to it could give you a black eye.

Wacken 2019 was very special for Sabaton. They celebrated 20 years as a band. They used BOTH stages using current and old Sabaton members. A very special show. I do not know if any other band has used such as set up on Wacken open air or any other festival ever.
It was a first for Wacken as well to have one band on both stages simultanously. Befitting for Wacken's 30th anniversary, don't you think?
Actually Trans Siberian Orchestra did dual stage setup on Wacken, don't remember which year though
Manowar did this. They had all their former members on stage playing "Battle hymn". That was epic. 3 drummers and 3 guitarists i think :). You can find that live on youtube
Rare Viking joke -> Vikings are skirting a cliff on the way to battle. The edge gives way under Bjorn's feet. The man is holding onto a twig 200 meters over a bed of jagged rocks. His brothers gather at the edge, unable to reach him. It's certain death. Bjorn thinks to himself that he has one chance to yell something that will be recounted around fires for a hundred years. Should it be patriotic? A call to the gods? The twig snaps and as he falls, he yells up "I bedded your wife!" Later that night, around the fire, his brothers looked at each other and said "did he mean your wife, or my wife?" The leader said "or all our wives?" They all laughed and raised horns in the name of Bjorn, who had uttered without doubt the most "Viking" thing for a man to yell when plunging to his death. Surely laughter was heard in Asgard as well and Valhalla's doors were thrown open to him. (-:
Attero Dominatus is a song from the Attero Dominatus album,I would recommend it because it connects with Hearts Of Iron which is another sabaton song.

Let me switch on a little light bulb here: The Sabaton's first significant album was Primo Victoria in 2005 with the first song on the list: Primo Victoria. The year later, in 2006 - album Attero Dominatus (about WWII and the title comes from latin and means "destroy tyranny") with the first song on the list: Attero Dominatus . (Swedish Pagans comes in Re-armed Edition in 2010 of the 2008's album The Art of War, as a bonus song.)

The Wacken video didn't get blocked - Yes, Wacken TV is notorious for sending copyright strikes on all their videos, but I think the key to why that video doesn't get blocked is in the lower right corner where it says Magenta Music 360. That's the music branch of the State owned German Telephone Company, Deutsche Telecom. I don't quite understand how it works but videos marked with Magenta Music 360 usually doesn't get blocked by anyone else.
In the beginning of the live-video you can hear the crowd chant "Noch ein Bier", which is a running gag with Sabaton that German-speaking crowds will chant it (it translates to "another beer" and, well, Joakim has to drink another beer. Sometimes he shuts it down or negotiates because otherwise he can't keep singing or, as he said at one show, "if Scandinavians get drunk, they get NAKED, and you don't want that"

Since Christmas is coming up, I recommend "Ghost of Marley", "Joy of Christmas" (official music videos), "Glory of Christmas" (animated music video) and "Ghost of Christmas past" (official lyric video). Ghost of Christmas Past, and Christmas Joy are the songs from Majesticas xmas album that I like the most.
But Metal United and Above The Sky are also great songs. Most impressible are Tommys musical skill and vocal range. He can sing everything from opeŕa to metal.

That particular performance at Wacken they had their old band members set up on the other stage playing their instruments. So both stages were Sabaton in a sense.
I don't know why, but I'm not a huge fan of Swedish Pagans. I'm not saying it's bad, it's on my playlist. I just don't understand what's so grand about it, but the light bulb will probably go off in my head once I see them live... It seems to be that kind of song. Unfortunately, all the Sabaton shows in my area has been sold out since, like, forever, but one day...
Tommy's actually a pretty talented vocalist. He's got a band, Majestica, and while they're very skilled, I haven't heard many songs that I really liked (so the Sabaton Army should give me some recommendations), except for their Christmas album; a metal adaption of A Christmas Carol. It's awesome. He's also made metal covers of Swedish bands like (drumroll) ABBA. That "Swedish Hitz Goes Metal" stuff is well executed, playful and fun.

If you have 2 to 2-1/2 hours to spare, watch the Wacken 2019 show. It was fantastic and when they did 40:1 and listening on stereo, wow is all I gotta say.
Probably one of my least favorite Sabaton songs when listening at home, but when you're at the shows and everyone gets into the chant, it's such a special moment of feeling together with everyone in that audience.
Attero Dominatus is Sabaton's third album and second album entirely based around military history. It is also the first track on the album. Attero Dominatus is a Latin phrase that roughly translates to "destroy tyranny". The album also contains two of my favorite tracks: Nuclear Attack (about the atomic bombing of Japan) and Rise of Evil (about Hitler and the Nazi's rise to power. This track pairs beautifully if listened immediately before The Final Solution).

Valhalla is just Odin not accepting that he's going to die and gathering dead elite warriors to try to combat his fate. It's not "heaven" merely something you have to settle for when you don't get the luxury of being buried close to your ancestors. The whole concept of "Valhalla = heaven" is bs conjured up by fiction and movies.

So who going to mention that sababton broke up or something like a decades ago, and the name sabaton stayed with lead singer and the drummer, but band members who went there own way formed there own band called civil war... which sound like sabaton and dose history music as well, but the lead singer is aquiered tast.

I would highly recommend their song the Christmas truce (specifically the music video) before Christmas next week as it’s a powerful story and I think it’s a story people should hear at least once

It's cool how my actual history gets incorporated into those games.
if youre into norse mythology you should check out the band brothers of metal. they write songs about vikings, norse mythology and such. theyve quickly become one of my favourite bands ever. i recommend starting with prophecy of ragnarok and then yggdrasil. from there you cant really go wrong as all of their songs, in my opinion, are bangers.

Assassin's Creed is easily one of my favorite game franchises. I'm a bit behind, and about a third of the way through Odyssey right now, but Valhalla is ready to play once that's done. The historical aspect is what sets it above other games for me. Not sure if you noticed it, but Sabaton brought some former members back, and they played a handful of songs on both stages at that show with past and current members at the same time. Attero Dominatus is a banger, and you should definitely react to it at some point. 💡
Odyssey was one of my favorites. Black Flag was a blast too.
Assassin's Creed fan right here for sure. I just got done playing the Valhalla/Odyssey crossover DLC, and really enjoyed seeing Kassandra again. Literally my two of my four favorite eras of history came together in that one DLC, and two of my three favorite AC protagonists. If only they could've slipped Ezio in there somewhere.

Oh fuck yeah we have Assassin's Creed fans here, personally i'd have a hard time picking a favourite one as they all have different stuff that is great and bad about them. I guess as of right now it would be Unity because of its setting, improved combat that actually challenges you and beautiful movement animations.

AC Origins was probably my favorite, followed by Black Flag.

Oh and here is another bit of trivia for you. The village of Wacken has merely around 2.000 residents. and when the festival takes place, there are usually around 75.000 visitors coming there.

Assassin's creed black flag will always be the best! I'll admit I haven't been as much of a fan of the series since they backed off the meta-narrarive and killed Desmond.
Black Flag was a blast. Really had one feeling like a Pirate.

AC Black Flag has grown badly but it still stands my absolute Favorite right next to AC Rogue im replaying black flag right now trying to get a 100% and every area i enter will be golden after or before i finish the mission then the legendary ships.. the legendary ships.. that'll be a problem
