What Happens if you put too Much Oil in Your Engine?

- This was the first startup after we drained just under FIVE GALLONS from a four cylinder gas engine. I should have gotten video of the Home Depot bucket we drained it into, we had to save it to show the customer. It drove in smoking like that but running very poorly. Also, it was definitely NOT Seafoam!

To whomever did this, thank you for taking yet another Chevy Cruze off the road
Amen to that, I hate the stupid PCV system so damn much
Whats wrong with chevy cruze’s?
@@itz_hunted3788 if the Chevy Cruze has the 2.2 or 2.4 ecotec motor then there basically is no PCV system lol. Just a tube going from the top of the valve cover to the intake with no filter or anything. Ive seen that tube totally clogged with sludge before.
As a previous owner of a gen 1, I couldn’t agree more. I can’t wait to see these things die they’re mechanical piles of shit
What’s wrong with chevy cruzes? Those things drive nicely and make great little commuter cars
Overfilling results:
Hydrolocking, bent pistons, damaged engine seals, damaged catalytic converter, damaged sensors, damaged spark plugs and ignition coils, misfiring, etc.
Thank you for the information. Was wondering how come the smoke is white. Thought oil burnt black and coolants burnt white.
@@42luke93 black smoke is excessive unburnt fuel.
@@42luke93 sucks don’t do it lol.Did this on my 2018 mustang and I had no idea until I went to gas it and it would barely move.
White smoke is coolant, black is in burnt fuel, bluish white is oil…
@@_doomzday
Thank you for clarifying.
"Fill the oil to the top of the lid right"
wow thats a sick burnout dude
RIP catalytic converters
Burnout without even revving!!
Five Gallons? I don't even understand how that happens. There's no way that was an accident.
Probably confused 5 quarts with 5 gallons. Simple yet also a big mistake
@@Micah._Beltran pretty insane because the gas tank in a chevy cruze only holds 13 gallons... so they just basically put half tank of oil in the car lmaoooo
Probably some idiot thinking he could service it himself cuz he watched Scotty Kilmer, bought the bottle and dumped the whole lot in
@@PHAZER99 That's not pouring in one bottle, that's pouring in a drum. That's 4 of those huge jugs. Probably $100+ of oil. That's what's confounding me is that it was by such a huge margin. 2,3,4 quarts I could see, but not 20.
5 gallons is not possible, I have a Chevy Cruze engine on an engine stand right now, couldn’t put more than 2gallons in it
One has to overfill by quite a lot to have any negative effect. It is difficult to overfill by more than a quart.
Now it's diesel
Looks like a Sea Foam engine treatment. 🤔
My thought exactly.
@Doctor PC no it isn’t if they were sea foaming the engine they would have to hold the rpm’s at a certain point I’d know because I do it every year and it tells you to raise the rpm’s until the can is empty and sea foam doesn’t create that much smoke at least not with any of my cars and trucks
@@jordandarcy3329
All they have to do is rev it a few times and then it'll smoke at idle, I have a friend who loves to sea-foam his vehicles and it does just like this car in this video.
I sea foam my audi every 6 months. Smokes just like the video. Shit helps as she has 250k miles and still going strong! 2010 Audi A4 K04 APR tuned since 30k miles!
@@orange2352 250k and u have a tune even that baby turbo and tune you’re lucky it’s not dead. My s4 pushers 800 whp and has 180k it’s a b6 once it hits 200 I know better and I’ll start stripping parts and selling. Btw the k04 is a bad upgrade bud ask any car guy. U either go big body or stick with the k03s. The k04 is too torquey and with a rebuilt k03s you’ll shift a lot smoother and actually have more options to build on
Looks like sea foam. Also adds up to the conversation in the background
Ahhh the signs of a healthy engine. I’ll make sure to keep topping up my oil to the max level 😁
We had this problem with a chevy cruze at our shop, the turbo cracked and was injecting the turbo lubricant oil straight into the intake. Chevy cruze smoke screen.
My mother recently got her car serviced at a mechanic while troubleshooting another issue and when she got the car back we checked the dipstick and the oil was overfilled which is a pretty embarrassing mistake for a mechanic to make..
Here goes the 02 sensors
Wow you up the polluted air by 3% 👌
Buying that car sure was an expensive way to do a vacuum leak test on another car, but it's very effective
That car would fit in with all the Subaru owners at car meets LOL
Uhh.. doesnt engine oil burn kinda blue smoke? That looks like coolant to me. or seafoam lol
you got a spy car and hit the smoke screen switch
Why didn’t he drain it 😤
Oil consumption is big problem in many cars, there are some engines have problem with carbon buildup in oil rings/piston drain back holes, causes excessive oil usage when car gets alot of miles on the clock.
Those carbon deposits can be dislodged from oil control ring with piston soaks with berrymans12 etc, but cant get that pesky carbon out of the oil drain back holes, which are located behind the oil control ring.
I'm wondering if you overfill the oil to the oil ring level ( when piston is at bottom of stroke)
and have alot of berrymans in the oil, that the piston slapping into that oil might just clear the oil returns holes located behind the oil rings, as the holes on the inner side of the piston will smash into the oil/berrymans mixture and might just clear them out.
( common engine flushes might suffice)
When the piston hits the oil the connecting rod will be in tension not compression, so wont hurt the rods: no hydrolock.
I would like to know any reasons not to do this, one I can think of is that since the oil level is so high, you might get some going into the cylinder, probably not good.
any mechanic will know the eninges that have this issue, its a huge problem for higher mileage engines , soooo many cars have this issue. Only remedy at this point is teardown and clean out the oil return holes, if there is a way to do it without tearing engine down would be beneficial for many.
2az-fe toyota enigne is just one example, there are many
I have a camry with that engine and whenever i drive i pray for it lol
Why is there smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe, Seymour?
I wonder how many % oil can you mixed the petrol with, without any damage?
A lot, the engine actually does well burning oil like that to an extent, it’s usually very bad when it’s because of overfilling though.
Holly shit, just think of all that carbon build up
doesn’t matter, this is probably within spec for a Chevy
How u guys fix the car?
Will the engine light come on from too much oil
A gift from the ninjas
Is that a 2stroke?!
How to flip off the epa
What about the opposite effect
1.9 TDi mode is on.
2-stroke
We accidentally filled to much oil in our car, and i drove it like that for about 20 minutes until the smoke was to much and i could see it in the rear view. I had to go the a wedding so, luckily someone stopped and helped, he drained the oil, and i drove the car to and back from the wedding. Car ran fine, except maybe engine trembling.
Should i worry about damages to the engine?
@iNSTAGiB stop 💀😂
My engine started doing the same thing, have you fixed yours? Mine now has a misfire.
@@Sanzs when i stopped over a mechanic came from nowhere offered to fix it for payment. He drained the engine so the the amount of oil would not be so high. The car worked almost fine that day.
The day after went to the shop to have it checked out the didnt fins anything wrong. Its been more than a year i believe and the car has no noticeable long term issues.
Why is it white? Thought oil burns black.
Black is fuel/running rich. Bluish white is oil,White is coolant,Grey smoke is normal and happens when it’s cold outside
That engine requires bypass surgery
Why is it white? Thought oil is black burning.
Oil would be blue. Fuel is black
How to roll coal with your car 😂
I worked at valvoline for a few months once. Fucking nuts the shit you'd see.......
Who needs to do a burnout just put alot of oil in the engine
This smokes more worse than my dad's GMC Savanna Cutaway chassis HD.
Does it alive after draining out the extra oil?
Yes this was the first start after the extra oil was drained out
@@ImmortalsRacingEngines how much extra was put in and how much oil does this car require?
@@seangowan7441 it’s only supposed to take 4 quarts!
It’s fine, they just used some sea foam
Who needs head gaskets just put 10 gallons of oil in your engine
James Bond would be impressed
Blown head gasket?!
Too much oil.
For a diesel that’s called a runaway
And you can’t turn it off
Should've put it in the ketchup.
Mint
is like rolling coal
Will this cause permanent damage or will it simply burn off and be fine?
Both maybe
No it needs to be drained asap
NAH mate it has a head gasket leak
I don’t understand how you can fit 5 gallons of oil in probably the 1.8l engine
1.4 liter
the displacement on an engine (the liters) refers to the amount of space that is made in the cylinder when each piston is at bottom dead center. This is the space where the explosion takes place. This does not refer to the total amount of space in an engine. you 6.4 hemi are 392s but take 5-7 liters of oil
diy smoke machine
Just drain it
If you don’t no about the dipsticks then you probably shouldn’t be changing your oil 😂🤣 especially if your car is higher end and doesn’t have one 😂🤣
my friend did it to his accord and nothing happened
but its a honda. not a chevy lol
He got fake plates.. or Craigslist plates
Sadly I own one of these this thing drain the shit out of my wallet i cant wait to get rid of it
CEO of global warming
🤣😂
It’s petrol. It’s a petrol engine. Gas is used in cooking. Petrol goes in cars. Thick yanks
Gasoline goes in cars. Gas is a shortening of gasoline. Petrol is petroleum. Crude oil. Thick Brit.
Some chump bought that car new
No that’s just Chevys family cars 😂
Chevy sucks anyway, guaranteed it's not still on the road or has had several fixes
