EDIT - Told ya, won the fight with his skills, not just his power, it was pretty even on the standup, Izzy was gradually turning the tide on him and was getting ahead of him, but he took him down, at the right moment, when he was leaning back and was off balance.

As talented as Adesanya is I’m sick to death of hearing him so casually speak of his brilliance.
I couldn't put a finger on why I'm so love hate with him till you explain it like that. It's a sort of quiet arrogance. I do find it obnoxious at times but it is easier to stomach than some other loud mouths who have held belts.

What a performance by Jan... especially the last two rounds. He looked gassed out but suddenly took his chances on takedown and sealed the victory. It's funny how most of them favoured Izzy. Those prediction videos in UA-cam is gonna age like a fine wine

@@tan78687 Hmmm... Well, I can see why some might think this, as Izzy is slick. One of the best in the game in fact. But let's not forget the toughest fight of Izzy's career was Kelvin Gastelum. Short (5'9 vs. 6'4) short arms, chubby, slow(ish) - Yet he knocked Izzy on his butt, and many were thinking Izzy might lose. Now in the final round Izzy surged with a 2nd wind and did enough to win the decision. But look at his face through most the fight. He really had to work against a slow, chubby, short opponent because Kelvin kept the pressure on him and didn't let Izzy back him down.
He did his best to fight inside instead of just standing back and letting Izzy piece him out through much of the fight. Now Jan is much taller, much better reach, and has 1 punch knockout power. If Kelvin got the power on target despite Izzy having every advantage in the book, Jan should be able to as well.
In theory of course. There's always the counter-point that fighters are always evolving and maybe Izzy will take a different approach with Jan because he knows he's so dangerous. Either way, I'm sure it'll be an amazing fight. I'm here commenting because I'm tired of waiting and counting down the hours till this evening. Ready for this one!

The difference between the top 10 fighters in each division is their smarts to fighting, thats why izzy is at the top. The division into Adesanya - speed and technique, Jan - power, is a big simplification. At such a high level of competition, everyone has great technique and skills. Adesanya is an amazing kickboxer, but even in this area he is not perfect and he makes mistakes. How many bombs did Gastelum give him?

@Shades 1.1 this title fight is way bigger than any of khabibs defences because of Izzies courage to challenge himself by changing weight class something khabib cant do because his only advantage is his weight advantage. If he wins and has 1 more defence in either weight class than khabib is out. Plus Izzy has been just as if not more dominant than khabib, 1st and 2nd round ko's are more dominant than wet blanket wrestling for 2 rounds than a tko or submission. This fight is easy worth two defense's. all khabib needed to be more active to cement his legacy 4 defences won't do it and compared to GSP or Jones it already hasn't done it.

The outcome/decision was accurate...striking, grappling, takedowns and control. All things considered, the fight was won by Jan. Adesanya did not do enough. He is not ready to face Jon Jones and walk away with a win. Humbling...he needed to see more clearly and grow. Good opponent, good timing and now a good opportunity for him.
