This is like my ‘first step dream car’ something I want to buy relatively rough/cheap and fix up as my first nice car, I’m 18 and haven’t yet managed to get a test because of COVID but I can dream that these will still be affordable by the time my insurance goes down

Completely agree. As much as I like the 944, I think it was not a step up from the Z4 Coupé.
I agree I also think the 944 was a ringer. I’m just not sold you could find one that clean under 8k

As an Aussie, was a little disappointed you guys didn’t get the Monaro. Still the 944 is a great car and it’s been such a good series to watch!!
I think it's ridiculous how cheap they are over there, considering we have to pay upwards of 35k
@@jaydendixon7300 Ultimately comes down to demand which fluctuates the prices. But they’re very quickly becoming a collectors item here in Oz which is driving the prices up. They’re fabulous cars either way.

I remember on Top Gear when May and Clarkson bought 944s in two separate challenges for £900 and £1500 respectively. Certainly an appreciating classic
Clarkson had a 928,May a 944,Hammond a 924.

While that is true for the £1500 Porsche challenge, the £1500 944 I’m referring to was Clarkson’s choice of car for a £1500 rear-wheel challenge in 2009 (Series 13 I think) - which featured a Morris Marina as the back up car

"You have to be.. a Quaver to fit in side here". I love Jack, some of the things he comes out with is incredible. You can see the slot machine of words he's thinking of and end up with a crisp snack. It's perfect too, curled up and twisted.

I'd LOVE to see an ongoing series to see how far you can get. Whether it be upgrade all the way to high end sports cars or vintage classics. That would be amazing!
Can we have a video of Alex's mother looking it over and driving it? It'll be wonderful to see her fawning over it... or absolutely tearing into it... whichever way it may go.
Also, that documentation is a thing of absolute beauty. Mad props to the guy who collated and curated that collection, that is some true passion and enthusiasm. Look after the car, guys!

4 minutes in and I'm guessing they didn't get the Monaro as I saw it on AutoTrader last night during my daily dream scroll...
Yea. Was so hoping they got it.Then they'd have realised wot a good and ( in my opinion) underrated car the Monaro is! In yellow they are better looking than Alex and RUST finding each other again!

I have always loved the 944. Now you've got me thinking about shopping in my car... hmmmm...
Haven't watched this channel in a while and frankly I forgot how good it is. It's also given me the motivation to do some bits and bobs to my car that needing doing... Cleaning it, being one of them (special treat for sailing through its MOT today).
I personally don't even like this style of Porsche but I love seeing how excited they are about that 944! It's kind of infectious

Love the 944, definitely underrated but is gaining traction among enthusiasts. But to be honest the Monaro was more exciting to me.

I've really enjoyed this series, you might want to continue with it. Although, don't sell the 944, you'll regret it. I've owned a 944 S2 from my 20th to 26th, 6 years later I still regret selling it, especially when seeing you guys get so excited about it!

Loving this! - Also a tip for a future "Living with a ..." video: Today I saw a slammed early 2000s BMW 5-series estate, which seemed to have 2mm of ground clearence, skipping like a demented puppy over the un-even street outside my place of work, while going south of 40 km/h, having it's wheels at angles that would suggest total suspension failiure and scraping it's underbelly in the ground every 3 seconds. Looked absolutely rediculous - so naturally I want to know how it is to live with a slammed car? Please - I need to know!
Its terrible honestly. Sacrifice anything for "looks".
I bought a sports car that was lowered, not even slammed, I got so sick of constantly scraping on speed bumps, driveways, and all that stuff that I raised it back up to factory height.
I couldnt fathom driving something completely slammed.
It isn’t to bad I drove a 2017 Passat that was lowered 4 inches and I never complained

Bought a civic type r EP3 a few years ago, mugen everything and on coilovers. I ended up putting the oem shocks back on. Can't mount on a pavement to park so narrow street parking is a no go, you'll scratch the body on the pavement if you're not careful when parking, ride quality is horrific if it's a daily and not a track monster, handling was impeccable and it looked beautiful, at the sacrifice of comfort and convenience.

Probably because he needed the money for something else; i doubt he wanted to sell it.

Financial turmoil forces one to make desperate decisions.. I feel for the poor guy who owned this car before Alex. I wouldnt want to part ways with something that special.
Because that’s all it’s worth. You could spend 30k on a full strip down restoration but it will still only be worth what the market says it’s worth, you would get a bit of of a jump
because of the condition but you will never get your money back. Who knows why they sold it, circumstances change, I emigrated last year and had to sell both of my cars, one I intended to keep the rest of my life and the other I’d only bought 9 months earlier. You never know what’s around the corner.
