This is absolutely fantastic. I have interest in this. It's been many, many years since I've used my creativity like this. The lucida thing with the ipad is new for me. I may give it a try to bring back some muscle memory since I'm in retirement now and my hands are as steady as they used to be. I am almost hypnotized by listening intently and watching what can be done with technology. Keep producing and I'll keep watching.
Well done Jonathan! Your tutorial was both educational and entertaining. And your video is a textbook example of excellent 'instructional design'. Thanks, Art
Thanks for the camera Lucida info. I’ve had the app for years and have only used it a couple times and every time I have to refresh how to use it. Lol Just wanted to let you know that platinum fountain pens don’t dry out and are fantastic with permanent inks. The platinum carbon black desk pen is long and thin like a brush and good for loose sketching. Every platinum has the same seal and doesn’t dry out so you can use a preppy, plaisir right up to the beautiful platinum 3776 with gold nib. Hope that helps! Lamps are terrible that way.

Great introduction to Lucida which may well suit my needs. I am an airbrush artist and transferring an image to the substrate can be a real pain. I have used a projector but find it very awkward trying to trace on the vertical and trying to stand out of the way of the projector. How about going to A3 size?
Yes you can do A3 with various methods. Either draw in 2 halves, or use the newer ipad and webcam combination (which enables you to draw just about any size you like), plus lots of other techniques (see numerous other videos). It's a great app and I love it.
I did a video on drawing / painting in an area bigger than the ipad - A3 in fact or the latest version allows another video camera or iphone to draw massive areas. Look at the video tutorials by Peter and others 👍
@@mbhaerle9858 the mirror does not “project” an image as such. You really need to watch my videos on using the osmo mirror with camera lucida. It’s hard to explain but you see your hand AND your image at the same time on the screen of the ipad at the same time.
@@JonathanCampDesigner Thanks for your quick response. I have watched your videos just trying to understand if the mirror can be used on its own with a non ios tablet.
@@mbhaerle9858 i’m not sure but you would have to check the thickness of the tablet and the position of the camera. Of course camera lucida only works on apple devices…
The Osmo deflector isn't functioning as expected despite your instructions on its use. Despite multiple attempts, it remains unresponsive. Consider using alternatives such as the Osmo pad or base stand for better results.
I loved your video, and I learned a lot about Camera Lucida. I wish you many, many subscribers 🇨🇦

How would you set up for landscape paper?

BTW was there an osmo produced with no trademark on it please.
Hi, not that I know of. You can of course use any Mirror that is angled. The OSMO fits perfectly though.
Do you have to have the Osmo app in order for the reflector to project the image from your iPad to the surface of your paper?

Can you take a photo of your strand and osmo setup. You would be the only person I have heard of unable to use the OSMO mirror.
Hi, what app do you use ?
Camera lucida
sorry, that made me laugh, and in fairness i didn't watch it all. I would just trace it.
Wtf are you talking about
