      Shelling your own forces is not unheard of. It's usually done though as a tactic of last resort. Filipino marines have done it often enough to actually make it a strategy. They lull the overwhelming enemy forces to encircle and overrun their position and then ask the artillery to rain down fire on their own position. The Marines have already accepted their deaths anyway, so taking down the enemy with them is just a bonus.

    I have fought people for fun. One of my room mates when I was in the military used to fight with me on a regular basis. I wore long sleeves so my co-workers would not see the bruises on my arms. When he got reassigned he told me I was the best room mate he ever had. He was also one of the best room mates I ever had as well. We did take time to heal up afterword before our next fight. We also had strict rules about where you could hit. So upper chest, and upper arms, but no where else. There was one time he hit me in the hip and nearly broke his hand. I called the fight off (conceded the fight to him) It took about a week for the swelling in his hand to go down. Just so you know, we used to talk all the time and had mutual interests other than fighting.
    Now, I had another room mate. Our dorm manager said there were two people who could not keep a room mate for very long. So he decided to put us together to see what happened. We were room mates until he was discharged from the Air Force. No we did not fight. I would never have done that with him. He was very delicate looking and I would have been afraid of doing him serious injury. I don't know why other people had problems with him. We got along just fine.

    • @mage3690
      @mage3690 Рік тому +10

      Autism and disagreeable personalities get along famously. It's just that autistic people get along rather poorly with agreeable personalities: we want to be agreeable, but we miss the cues and sometimes end up offending agreeable personalities even worse than disagreeable personalities. Disagreeable personalities know about all that stuff, they just don't care. It's a bit like the relationship between a cat and a bunny. When a cat licks a bunny, they both think they're top dog in that interaction.
      I don't want to assume you're disagreeable, or that the Air Force roommate had autism, BTW. This is just one scenario that could explain why he never could get along with anyone else. Also, this disclaimer is meant for agreeable personalities, the rest of us frankly don't care. Well, autistic people (me) do care, just in an academic sort of way, not in an "I'm going to take severe offense to that assumption because I'm an obviously normal human being/you're being " sort of way.

    Berserker. Where we get "he went beserk!" All but my nickname in school. Whenever people said this, it was assumed that "he" was me. Adrenalin does strange stuff. I had several fights in my younger years were I felt like I was an outsider watching someone else use my body in a fight and not being really aware of the rest of the world until later when several people managed to hold me down. I will say, though, that with as much as we moved around, it didn't take bullies at a new school long to figure out that leaving me alone was the best option. Now I am just old, and probably remember these episodes a little more in my favor than they were, but that is another advantage to me.

    • @Warutteri
      @Warutteri 3 роки тому +10

      I would start laughing hysterically in violent situations and feel almost no pain, none of my bullies dared to take me on one on one and many of them tried to be friendly with me outside of school when their buddies weren't around to back them up...
      I'm not a violent person, quite the opposite infact, but that's a big part due to having some pretty bad aggression issues when I was younger that led me to learn to not get angry or if I do walk away rather than fight mostly out of fear I lose control, I'm a small guy but even a small guy can do some bad damage if you go into full animalistic rage mode and use anything you can get your hands on to hit, cut or stab someone and in general don't have any sense of "fighting fair" or "honourably" while in such a state and I really don't want to be responsible for doing something like that 😅

      Sorry didn't mean to come of as saying you would do so fight other than as the last option, I've just known people like that which is why in public discussions on fighting and controlling your aggression I usually try to mention how important it is to always try ways other than violence to solve the situation or if nothing works try to remove yourself from the situation, even if that might result in some jeers or "losing of face" because there are risks of permanent injuries even in relatively minor violence because accidents can happen really easily while fighting and sometimes you just hit in the worst possible spot and break something that doesn't heal easily or even cause permanent damage.

      Well, I'm using strange affliction as a nicer way to say "once the fight is on you have to keep one eye the crazy bastards because they are just as likely to attack you as the people you're fighting." the fact they got no control once they get going only becomes obvious later so it is most definitely a mental affliction. Strange could probably be swapped out for rare but I find it odd myself to not be able to recognize your friends during a fight and try to beat the hell out of them in your blood lust.

      Well, the Empire used to be a slave-state, as said when the story was setting the scene in the beginning. The story doesn't focus on the moral fibre of either multi-species conglomerate, really, it's about the experiences of two people in the middle of it in a way that exemplifies human bloodlust.
      The Republic could be 'the good guys' for all we know, it doesn't matter for what the story is setting out to do here. But the Empire has military leadership somewhat comfortable with bombarding their own population centers, employ mercenary corps as a large contingent of their regular militaries, and had a history of slavery- sounds like a United States analogue from a couple of angles, but although the POV is centered on them it isn't obviously supposed to be seen as the 'good guys'.

    Hyper-rage is unfortunately real. I've had the problem since young. So much so that when my daughter gave me a new house key it was a hulk image. I don't like it, and fortunately have never lost it with a loved one.

    Good story but the narrator just sounds like an old man and not a hired space gun. Great sound for diplomats and that sort but not for a space marine.

    The term, "Battle Trance" is also known as going, "BERZERK". ;-)
    I thought the answer was, "Not sure an alien would cover his back like having another Human?"

    You can tell which of these stories are written by woke cultists. The stories always obsess with labels like Sapient.. the xenophobia in the stoires tell alot about the writer. Its like a glimpse into their psyche. Very interesting tbh.
