Damn finally someone who recognizes who actually played this! Gary rossington actually said that when Steve came into the band him and Alan were burnt out and he breathed new life into the band imagine the music that Steve and Ronnie could have made together had they lived said Artimus Pyle. We have a song that is so good "You got that right" which is Steve and Ronnie singing together the only one before the plane crash.
Ed king said this was the hardest song for him to do, when the tribute 87' came around. He did a damn good job though. He could not get it right, but pretty damn close.
This is such a rippin' great song. I cannot listen to this song without getting a smile on my face and tapping my toes. RIP Steve Gaines - you were a smoking hot picker.
Steve Gaines had this song written when he joined the band. He also wrote "You Got That Right" and really revived the band. Such a shame what happened!
Ronnie had talked about that he thought they would never be able to hold Steve Gains back from being a huge star on his own. I think Ronnie was absolutely right. He remains one of my favorite guitarist of all times. To think he had only just joined the band is so sad. Kind of ironic that Steve had a solo album, title song was called I'm not the one in the sun.
I was fortunate enough to see them several times...only band i saw...that partied with the audience... Billy Powell .with his Budweiser in the can on his piano....even had a bottle of whiskey on th stage... but still got better .. each time I Saw them... kicked ass
This album with the flames was released on October 17 , 1977 . On October20 , 1977 a plane crash killed LYNYRD SKYNYRD members Ronnie Van Zant , Steve Gaines , Cassie Gaines , and two other people . A few months later this album was pulled and a similar looking album without the flames was released . The LP with the group in flames became a collector's item as a result. Jacksonville Beach . Florida at one time had "THE FREEBIRD CAFE" dedicated to LYNYRD SKYNYRD , which had weekly concerts featuring mainly rock and country artists . The first artist to play there was THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND . It opened in 1999 , changing the name to "FREEBIRD LIVE" and after 16 years unfortunately has since closed .
@@lloydrobeau5126many have said it would have been so cool to see the music that Steve and Ronnie would have made together had they lived cuz they were just starting to take off musically before they crashed
Always in our hearts, Gary!!!! West side of Jacksonville thugs!!! My kind of people!!! Think their the only band here in east Ky that some people know!!!!
When I was 19 in 1977 these boys came to Poughkeepsie, NY at the Mid Hudson Civic Center I had 7th row center and all my friends were in front of me! 🎸🎶🎵🎶✌️❤️
This is Steve Gaines playing here. Why must constantly have to school you youngsters...aaugh..... who sadly died in the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash in the late 70s along with most of the band
This masterpiece of a music history didn't born by an accident. Wasn't Ronnie the first one who woke up in the morning just to knock himself out at night? As Usain Bolt needed some practice, they did too :-)
You should react to "I Know A Little" from their last album before the plane crash (1977). It features the expert and fast fingered guitar work of Steve Gaines (one of the band members that was killed in the plane crash.)
Help me out the story of Skynyrd always freaked me out ! This Album Street Survivor came out after the crash with that cover . The album release and crash were kind of a premonition. It was due to release like that ? Do I have that close.
The album was due to release, the record with that art had already been printed, ready to ship. The crash happened, the record was released and then it was realized that the artwork was inappropriate being as what happened, they pulled the copies that had not shipped and changed the artwork
This track is as irresistible as the sight of Catherine Bach in a pair of Daisy Dukes....and akin to that eye candy , this ear candy is over too quickly .
"I know a Little about Love, and Baby I can guess the rest!" One of the Greatest Lines of ALL TIME!
Steve Gaines was a monster player! What a great talent.

Hell of a singer too.

I just turned 60. Being a fellow GARY made me love REO Speedwagon and Skynyrd.

Old school rock band that could turn goat milk into gasoline
I never heard that one but I like it👍👍👍
That seems to be implying that gasoline is better than goat milk, and I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to that assumption.
