I think that Miami Beach is transitioning into a vacation destination for people over 40 with disposable income. The usual _under 30 and broke crowd_ is finding the new Spring Break restrictions to be oppressive.
There are still lots of young people coming - .but they do not behave like raving lunatics.
It's possible these are young people with a bit more disposable income. And certainly with a lot more manners
But I thought many of these college kids do not have the money to pay back their student loans? So how is it they have money for airfare, hotels, and beer? Anyone?

@@lockjaw3388 no. Only businesses that make their money primarily from this type of crowd will suffer. Dusty small liquor stores that sell mostly cheap alcohol. Also rental shops for those toy-like speed cars (whatever they're called). But all other businesses will in fact benefit. Restaurants will not have to worry about customers that eat and run off without paying. There will be more quality tourists during these periods, and locals will not have to skip town to avoid the madness, so all businesses serving them will benefit.
South Beach is certainly NOT DEAD outside the Spring-break and Memorial Day periods. It is really great.

I’ve seen spring break in Miami and am currently witnessing it in Fort Worth, Tx. HUGE difference in the behavior here. Also, HUGE difference in the ethnicity breakdown. Sad to say but facts don’t care about your feelings.

Let's be honest the city didn't break up with spring breakers. They are tried of the behavior and attitudes of the negative young black people. I am not a racist, hell no just an older black man trying to understand why some of our young people think being rude, disrespectful is normal. The city has a right to protect its citizens and properties. This is coming straight from my heart. Some of our young men and women may be college educated, but totally lacks principles and decent character. They continue to feed the negative stereotype most of the world has about blacks, especially American blacks. To many community leaders are timid or afraid to speak the truth.

The majority of the spring breakers on Miami Beach didn't even finish high school, let alone are in college.
I think that Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, and Fort Lauderdale are better Spring Break destinations than Miami Beach is. Miami Beach gets crowded and uncomfortable very quickly during Spring Break. Even if you're lucky enough to find parking, it takes forever to drive anywhere in Miami Beach due to the jam-packed roadways.
I note that the increase in violence among Spring Breakers is directly correlated with the change in demographics in universities. But lets all just keep playing pretend.
