How to Sew a Pen or Pencil Bookmark Holder for ANY Notebook, Binder, Planner or Journal in 10 Min!

In this EASY Sewing Tutorial I will show you how to make a Pen or Pencil Holder bookmark for any size binder, notebook, planner, book, etc. It takes about 10 minutes to complete and you can use any type of fabric you have on hand, but I recommend cotton. The printable PDF Sewing Pattern will instruct you what size to cut your elastic for any sized books, planners or notebooks.

Thank you for this very helpful post. My daughter gave me a Rocket Fusion that I’m using for my planner this year. It’s great, except I’ve already lost the essential FriXion pen. I’m going to the store tomorrow to buy a supply of pens, and hoped I’d be able to buy an attachable pen holder. I ran across your site, so instead of buying a pen holder, I’m going to buy some tri-fold elastic and use some fabric scraps to make my own. I would sew a 1/4" seam on the fold of the pocket (where you folded the pocket in half). Press.
Do 10" of elastic and tuck in 1/2" of elastic on each end.
School binder do 13" long of elastic. Remember the elastic will stretch alot.
