Great video and awesome riding! These bikes are heavy and not easy to throw around a track like that! Years ago I had a 1986 xr600r that was bored out .5mm and had more compression than stock (I don't remember the exact numbers) and that bike was BRUTALLY FAST!!!!! I didn't ride it much around a motocross track, mostly high speed (VERY HIGH SPEED) desert riding in Arizona.... Simply an amazing bike! The 1986 was my favorite year because I like the orange, blue and yellow with the gold wheels... Beautiful bike! It was so comfortable to ride and had amazing power and torque throughout the RPM Range! I ended up getting paralyzed from an ATC (1985 200 X) accident where I passed out from dehydration, veered off the trail and hit a tree. It broke 4 vertebrae in my neck and pinched my spinal cord leaving me paralyzed from the chest down. Riding my dirt bike is definitely one of the things that I miss most! Thanks for the awesome video!
@John Stamper You're absolutely right, it could happen to anyone who rides. So be safe and always make sure you're hydrated. Yeah, I was very angry, depressed and bitter for several months after the accident but I learned fairly quickly that I couldn't live the rest of my life like that or it was going to be a miserable life! Also, looking around, there was always someone who had it worse than I did so I learned to be thankful for what I have and make the most of the bad situation. I have my days but 23 years and two days later I'm still trying to be positive and make the best of a bad situation. Thanks man, I appreciate that! I hope you're doing well too! Take care, be safe and God bless you and yours! 🙂
The air cooled XR 600R has the best Thumper Engine Power anyone could ever want[especially with just an IMS no.1 cam-they fly still with huge low end] In 99 I did what was the best trail Riding in ACT,NSW Brindabella National Park all the way to the Snowy Mtn.s National Park in the Great Dividing Range of Australia, but a fire in 2003 may have stopped[was it still legal after 2003?] what was FULLY LEGAL as long as you had road reg.in Australia-the Stripped down US version could get away with Street Legality, and man we had a ball. I have 2.5 600/628's left, with all new cranks 2'5 Complete engines all new Gearboxes, but a huge job to get them all together since I got back into music. These guys riding are getting some serious air for such a big bike! the rear drum 88-90's were 265lb dry,but the 92-2000 rear disk[with excellent cartridge forks[280+pounds bone dry] were superb-I set mine just like Scott Summers specs, and they absorbed me hitting a small-med. Kangaroo at 80 KM/h without denting/busting the front wheel-I flew 30-40 meters, and very luckily just flew superman style without getting hung up on the bike-The Kangaroo broke in half guts everywhere, all gone next day-wild boars-I suspect, when I went to find some left-behind bits that next day,[and fixed with Zip Ties,Duct Tape,Wire] the busted front brake speedo mount headlight and had 50KM of tight trails and another 20km of Road to make it home[in the Dark!],best bikes EVER,great Filming-Riding Thank You for sharing!
That's a very good rider on known trails. I rode one for 6 months on very bad roads in Central America (from south Costa Rica to Mexico-Guatemala frontier & back) and did the same thing as 5:10 crossing a river. It's a heavy bike with a high center of gravity. I switched to a Suzuki DR350 after that, more adapted to twisting unknown trails.
+youbidoubidou Hi. I know the DR350 is a very good bike. Some of my best friends had DR's. You can check some videos with DR's @ ua-cam.com/video/wAt0Ia0B8g0/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/3EYktGOECNg/v-deo.html kind regards from Austria Thomas
I had one of these bikes for years a 92 model.. i sold it when i was bit skint and hadnt rode it for 12 months or more and i really regret it.. the xr600 is a big bike and to throw it around like that takes some skill nice riding man

Impressive riding on an XR600. It's a heavy bike for motocross but has great power. Making it look effortless. I'm sure the suspension must have some upgrades but it cool to watch. I used to race a Yamaha TT500 on occasion back in the day but only a week or two at a time. Then back to my 490 two stroke just because those type of 4 strokes are a handful on some tracks. Very cool video !!
Hi, thanks you like it. The only suspension mod was a 1" (2,5 cm) preload spacer to the front fork. The 93 had way better suspenson than the poor soft 96. Now I'm in the last stages for a 1994. Hope to get everyting done in wintertime. Maybe a new video for 2018 ... heheh
I started riding dirt bikes in 1978 first bike Hodaka combat 125, next Ca-am tnt 250, Kaw kdx 250, Yam it 465, ktm 495, hon cr250, Maico alfa 490e , but best overall was 92' hon xr600r

Ja der Egger kann es gut! I am still riding a XR650L which I bought 10 years ago to drop some weight and turn it into an R. We persist and take no prisoners
Hallo to South Africa! Thanks you like this old stuff. I'm still into XR's. At the moment I will finish a 644cc XR project. Did you check my other XR videos? ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html , think I cannot get rid of it. hehe, kind regards Thomas
I rode 600 and 650 for twenty years. Im really fast but XRs jump very badly. This guy is good. First time I jumped a YZ I almost I almost did a backflip before backflips were cool.
Yeah that's true. 13-50 with an ARROW. If you like these XR600 videos you may check my XR playlist @ ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html kind regards Thomas
Damn good rider! I'm of similar skill on this heavy beast, but the arm pump gets me during races. Any tips? I'm going to take up mountain biking to see if that helps. I do know I grip too hard as well. Some say to just get a lighter CRF or WR, but that is easy mode. I love the challenge and torque of this bike. And I love people's reaction when you throw it around like 250.
+sauteedcooter HI. THX. Drink, drink, drink (water) days before you ride - this helps me. New cables & controls, plush suspension, stand up and do not sit arround too much, + lever position ..... thats just all. Kind regards!
Eat more banannas. And drink more water. Ride more often. Also try different width handlebars. Or different manufacturers, they all vibrate differently. The quickest cure is to upshift though.
Hi Tim! THX you like it. For the suspension - the 1993 was really good, stiff and stabil (the Euro version). The 1996 was a soft cow, fell almost a view times and had one big crash because of "soft". The 1996 rear end was always on the limit. You can hear sometimes the impact of full-end-compression in the video. Now, after almost 20 years I bought a 1994 and restore it .... hope the suspension will be good ... find some pics @ www.motopark.at/gallery/project-x/
get a nice lite 2 stroke and compare, I have an xr250r and compared to the 2 strokes I have owned i would have to say they don't compare, the power is not the issue it is the weight that is the problem, I am surprised that you can throw this thing around like that and put it down to riding skills rather than the bike.
Hi, I would not compare - I love to ride this old XR600's new & old 2-strokes and modern 4-strokes as well, enduros, motocross or trials. The more you love the better U ride. The most important thing is: Never stop to ride a bike you love (if the money is here). So go on and better ride today than tomorrow. Kind regards Thomas
Never seen an XR600 get that kind of air or get whipped around a berm like that! THATS INSANE!!! I tilt my hat sir. You had me smilin hard. Gotta ask... how is the frame holding out with the stress?
Thanks Joe you like it. I've never had issues with the frame. As you can see, most of the riding is on soft dirt. Only I can say the 93+94 suspension are way better than 96 &&& - Now I own this 94 and it still jumps like 25 years ago. You can check the playlist @ ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html or find the whole rebuild of the 94 @ www.motopark.at/gallery/project-x/ kind regards Thomas
hi bruno, it is heavy but the faster you are the lighter it gets - if you have fresh suspension it helps a lot, also run new cables & brake lines if you rebuild one - in the videos the bikes where close to new - I had a new 93 & 96 (the 93 had better stiffer suspension than 96) now I'm close to finish a 94 rebuild - first runs where great - just needs a little more jetting adjustment, you can check the project @ www.motopark.at/gallery/project-x/ so kind regards Thomas
Congrats egger2500, you are really impressive, I had one in around 2000 and can say it's really serious bike, specially if you get short in a jump. Now you can do the same on yzf or crf 450 and much safer. Again I tell your are a great rider.
Hi, thanks you like it! This video and the parts in it were shot in between 93-98. In this linked playlist I have some newer vides from last year after my rebuild of the "current" 1994 I have. Enjoy. Kind regards Thomas ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html
+Mike Pearce hi, the xr is totally different - 4stroke to 2 stroke, weight, &&& but if you love to ride it's no matter which bike you have - only thing - what is a huge part of riding comfort: new tires and good controls like new throttle & clutch cables, levers or bar ... so kind regards Thomas
Disfrutar. (by google translate) ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html
Hi, thx you like the XR600R ride vid. Even this was more than 20 years ago we prepair for a 2018 XR600R video. The bike is done & some filming is going on. You can check some bike pics @ www.motopark.at/gallery/ if you scroll down to 1994 ..... enjoy. Kind regards from Austria. Thomas
Saludos desde austria [by google translate] www.motopark.at/gallery/project-x/
Hallo Andrew. For the 93 I just run an ARROW + the PC1 T-Vent system for the carb. The 96 got a softer suspension and was a devil. We shimmed the front springs and did some mods on the rear shock. I added a Dellorto carb - it was more powerfull but the throttle pull was hard. Now I rebuilded a 94 with the "good old" stiffer suspension" added a Mikuni (but deleted the powerjet that flooded the system) - if you check my XR600 playlist you may find a link to the whole rebuild + pics and stuff. What year do you own or plan to buy?
Hi alani 201. At exact 60 km/h (on road) there is the usual little on/off. With the PC1 T-Vent system the bogging after jumps is close to eliminated ....
Great video and awesome riding! These bikes are heavy and not easy to throw around a track like that! Great video!!!

I miss my 1998 xr600r wish Honda still made that engine!
The new xr650l is virtually the same. Very close. Actually has more torque. But 3 less horsepower.

Good advice, thanks. I've been drinking more water and Gatorade lately. I quit soda too. I've noticed a difference already. Ride on!
Use your but and not your hands to hold on whenever you can
funny cause I Racred an xr a few times and got way less arm pump than any two stroke.

Congrats egger2500, you are really impressive, I had one in around 2000 and can say it's really serious bike, specially if you get short in a jump. Now you can do the same on yzf or crf 450 and much safer. Again I tell your are a great rider.
egger2500 your a boss that’s bad ass
smooth riding style for riding sucha junka bike. props.
what tires u use plz tell me and nice video mann
+alani 201 Hi alani 201 , I use MICHELIN tiers for more than 20 years. Depending on the underground a soft, mid or hard version. Kind regards Thomas
By the way when was this video shot? Just curious.....
Hi, thanks you like it! This video and the parts in it were shot in between 93-98. In this linked playlist I have some newer vides from last year after my rebuild of the "current" 1994 I have. Enjoy. Kind regards Thomas ua-cam.com/play/PLAMSJUeEdZ-XX1B6ZtxkrY-hjE5Qii8_U.html
as diesel locomotive low rpm big torque
wish i cud throw mine around like you can, how would this bike compare to lets say a 2 stroke rm 250?
+Mike Pearce hi, the xr is totally different - 4stroke to 2 stroke, weight, &&& but if you love to ride it's no matter which bike you have - only thing - what is a huge part of riding comfort: new tires and good controls like new throttle & clutch cables, levers or bar ... so kind regards Thomas
Its just i was after a 250 2 stroke as i didnt think my xr could handle this sort of stuff but u have proven me wrong, im in shock tbh
that's quite nimble for 600 thumper :O .

Landing on 2 wheels at the same time after completing the jump is better than one for GOOD Safety reasons.
Great Ride👍 You Must be an A Grade Rider to Ride the Big Red Pig Like its a 125 2 Stroke!! - Cheers👍😀🍻🍺
Thomas

I would like to fly like this with my XR ( and have a soft landing ) LOL.
hi, everyting is possible - I also started small ; step by step ;-)
Saludos desde austria [by google translate] www.motopark.at/gallery/project-x/

WHY.WHY DID HONDA TAKE THE XR600R XR500R AND XR650R AWAY FROM US,
Mpravo.
What kind of mods do you have?
@@egger2500 awesome thanks man
have your xr snaps in half ???
Hi alani 201. At exact 60 km/h (on road) there is the usual little on/off. With the PC1 T-Vent system the bogging after jumps is close to eliminated ....
your xr did that ???
alani 201
it still does ....
SORRY BUT I DONT ANDERSTAND EXPLAIN ME MORE
I can't believe this guy is throwing a bike this heavy around.. he's gotta be ripped. I had a 93 600r, fun as hell but heavy son of a bich
