I would skip the lowering. Its already very low and rear wing arch matches the rim nicely.
Interesting to see what you’ve done so far! Can’t say I’m a fan of the wheels. For some reason non-OEM wheels on any Porsche just makes the car look cheap to me. Look forward to seeing the techart front splitter after it’s been painted though! 👏🏻
I like the wheels, BBS makes a lot of Porsche OEM wheels. To each his own. I have a set of BBS LM's on white 993, it gets a lot of compliments
@@dougneeld8331 to be fair, I don’t tend to mind on older generation cars. I had a set of BBS wheels on a mk1 MX-5 once. But that’s the beauty of our cars and the customisation we can choose!
Think he must have a twin American brother.. Dial into this YT video
BMW E39 5 Series Airbag Light Reset
That’s the reversing light, not the brake light below the Taiwanese ducktail spoiler
😂👍
No thanks to the copy fuel cap.
Wheels don’t rock my world I’m afraid. The Carrera Classics look better. The 19s look too small. Sorry.
20s will ruin some of the performance of the car.
@@hoen2009 tbh I'd say that's completely irrelevant. yes, on paper it obviously has to have a performance impact. in reality? who even cares 🤷♂️ I'm running my 981CS with the 718 GTS wheels in 20" on PS4S with ~7:42 lap times round the ring. I doubt I'd go noticeably faster with 19s. A pro probably could, but I am none. So I prefer to enjoy the looks of the 20s and still are absolutely satisfied with the car's performance 😁
@@hoen2009 I have 20 inch Platinum Carrera S III's on my 981C (with PASM) and they're great. Considering I never do track days that is.
Thanks for the update. Love the wheels! I suggest the GTS tail lights. I have them on my white 981C and really like the look.
Mods look great!
😍👍🏻🧡🇸🇪 Love the look of that car😊 Happy Easter 🐣to you and your family
I am keeping it real and standard for a traditional Porsche 987.2 look, I just cannot afford to splurge after buying the car. I have ordered an X-Pipe 911 design exhaust tail for some aesthetic improvements but keeping it quintessentially Porsche. Interesting to see who far enthusiast goes to mod their Porsche.
I have a 981 Boxster S that I've installed a GT4 front bumper assembly, GT4 rear diffuser and a OEM Spyder ducktail. It looks like a humpless Spyder.
I have a 981C with PASM and 20" Platinum Carrera S III wheels. Perfect height, perfect comfort and great looks (IMHO off course). Personally I'm not a fan of the BBS's, but I love the looks of the ducktail in general (not the gaps and quality of this one of course). I also have the Zunsport Front Grilles (easy install) and the Carnewal GT exhaust (love it!). I'm also considering the dark GTS lights, but I will be buying the original ones for future value.
I got my ducktail genuine from Design911 about £600 and fits perfectly. Took a lot of adjustments and lost screws down the hole. I would never lower. Also only Porsche wheels look right on a Porsche IMHO as do tinting rear lights, just get the GTS. A cheap mod is the front side markers.
I tinted my back lights on my black Cayman 981. It looks way better.
How did they tint your rear lights, where did you get it done. I’m interested in getting mine done
@@williamjackson5357I had a GTS, factory tinted rear lights. I was saying “don’t tint”. Get GTS lights instead. Much better factory look.
A few things I wanted to add: 1) The TechArt “Front Spoiler I” actually is two separate kits included together. The first kit includes the bottom lip (black), the splitter (primered), the splitter carrier, and mounting hardware. It is meant to be _both_ anchored with screws on the underside _and_ bonded to the existing splitter and apron. The second kit includes the “trim bar for center shaft”, which comes primered and is either clipped into place and anchored into preexisting holes with screws along the edges of the center duct (on the Cayman S), or bonded to this area and then drilled and anchored into location on the base Cayman.
2) Although the higher-end ducktail spoilers look fantastic when retracted, it essentially ends up turning into an air brake when deployed. On Caymans, the OEM spoiler cants forward a bit when fully deployed. As a result, and due to the curvature of the ducktail design, they end up in a near-vertical position when deployed. Not only does it look absurd, as stated, it essentially becomes a massive air brake.
The Boxter’s wing lifting mechanism is designed to maintain a flat angle at all heights of deployment. Boxters have completely different hardware in this regard. All aftermarket dovetails that are currently available were designed with this in mind and under the assumption that the Cayman does the same. As stated, the Cayman does not. All of the aftermarket companies selling these ducktails will say that it’s compatible with both the Boxter and Cayman models. That’s technically correct with regard to the mounting points, but not with regard to it’s active aero dynamics. You won’t find a photo of these on Caymans in the deployed position on these companies websites for a reason.
Get a wavetrac Diff. Completely transforms the way the handling!
Love your new Porsche!! I wanted to know how does the 2.7 feel as far as power? I guess what I am asking is how does it feel in comparison to the yellow 997 you had? Thx
my mods so far : 1. Borla Exhaust,
2. Fabspeed Headers,
3. Engine Afe dry filters
4. COBB tune stage 2
5. Paint protection film (full front, rocker panel)
6. Yellow brake calipers
7. Wheels satin black
The 981 is starting to look good Al, do you think some side skirts (poss black to match the splitter and defuser) would give the car a lowered look without actually lowering? Might be an interesting look! 👀😍
To each his or hers alone, if not installed during manufacture, at the factory, I am going to leave my 981 well enough alone.
245/35 and 275/35 series tires are incredible and the 718 standard? Your spoiler looks fine to me. It will really handle well but the trade-off is speed. My daily driver is a classic Ford 🚒😊
Would love a 981 but I think with my wages and time saving a 987 would be appropriate for me. Really would love to own a 981 though however there are good mod and wheel options on the 987 🤔
A good start! I don't know how deep you're going to go with modifications but check out the UA-cam video from DeMan Motorsports (USA) for his 4.2 and 4.5 engine upgrades along with machined shorter gear ratios for both PDK and manual transmissions. Let me know what you think. Cheers!
a lot of the stock spoilers are not sitting flush at the taillights. mine is horribly off. Have you tried adjusting the spoiler using the adjustment nuts? should be possible to fix the different distance to the boot lid with that.
Looks good!! What made you go 19” instead of 20”?
Hankooks? Peculiar choice I must say
I would keep the front spoiler all black. It's like the 992 GT3 front.
Don’t buy after market grill & side scoop screens. You can make your own using black gutter screens for under $5 at Menards and cut them to fit. The fit behind the body work and look factory.
Shame about the ducktail, the 981 version really does need it. Any mods for the interior planned ?
I actually like the black splitter. Wheels look great but non Porsche.
My rear light tint was 180$ US.
Knowing how particular u r with ur porsches, id stay sway from painting the tail lights. Use the film 1st cuz u can always reverse it if u don’t like it.
Definitely do the X73 solid rear ARB it will transform the handling, cheap direct from Porsche, can send you part number if you need 👍🏻
Put the front X73 on too. It is very difficult to install compared to the rear but the balance front to rear is much better than with just the rear.
@@dndodd100 I did both on mine first the rear which was fantastic, I did the front a few thousand miles later and it only further improved it a small amount so although glad I did both it was the rear that made all the difference for me.
@@johnycarrera in which way did it change? with only the rear changed I guess less understeer?
@@sebastianbauer42 mine didn’t understeer to start with, it always wanted to oversteer, but the solid rear bar removed the vague back end and it was much more planted, in turn that helped the steering feel better as you didn’t have to continually correct your line.
@@johnycarrera thanks for sharing your impressions!
The only mod I would have done here was the BBS rims
Which color of the rims is that? Silver or titan?
Dont do thing.
19s with 35 profile all around is street/race spec.
Why 19 ?
Saving weight?
Love the wheels, no to decals.
Where’s mechanic Cooper (when you need him)?
info about the wheels please
That ducktail is horrendous, I wonder if it's made for the Boxster or something.
coudn't see the F/R splitters
Don't paint that splitter. It looks SO MUCH BETTER than the white section being painted. Graphically the front end looks much more modern with it all black
Cant understand your speech, but great car.
All show, no go….
Clearly you are missing the point. The Boxster and Cayman are not about pure speed. They are about enjoying driving a mid engined naturally aspirated flat six, without instantly losing your driving license when going down a country road.
Shame about that spoiler because, like you say, it looks great from a distance. But yes, the quality is horrible.
first mod should be taking a high performance driving class do not do anything to the car till you are a better driver invest in tourself
BBS wheels look terrible imo. dont suit the car at all
Stop that horrible music w.t.f.
