The owner looks like he had the time of his life, it looked like he didn't realize just how capable his car is with a driver like Misha. Absolutely brilliant driving Misha 👍 great video
Just a tip: Maybe it would add an additional interest to the videos you have a before vs after verdict. Like what do you expect from it, and what is it at the end. (Just and idea)
One of the most beautiful videos I've seen on your channel, the car owner's facial expressions give you an idea of the driver's skill. Thanks for this great content 👌
Great video Misha ! Love seeing owners enjoy their cars. Also love how you can drive not past the limit but just enough for a spirited fun drive. Always love analyzing your laps to improve mine in my game but hopefully in real life one day.
Same problem as the 987.2 with the high oil temp as well. I know for me I was able to help with a higher capacity oil pan with a fin stack in it to help cool the oil. Although the higher temp isn't going hurt the motor, it does heat soak the intake manifold and increase air intake temps and that does hurt power from what I have been told by people much smarter then me haha. In any case I love this platform and I love Porsche's haha.
At 130C it does not hurt the motor, unless you keep the oil in after the track day, and keep repeating these high oil temps on other track days. The oil will degrade and eventually cannot provide a protective film for the bearings. Although it looks like it stabilized, this is in a fairly cool climate based on the comments at the end of the vid. In a hot climate you'll see a lot higher temps. Now, the water temp was solid. The car can use a larger brick heat exchanger for the oil to move some of the heat into the water. Oil pan fins also a great solution. The bump stops and some of the underbody air deflectors are probably pretty toast after this lap.
The Cayman is a formula from the first historical Porsche cars such as the 550 from 1954, which used aviation technology. This is not an accident that the Cayman behaves like this, it's a chassis with nearly 70 years of evolution!
981 GTS is the best one between 981 ans 718 caymans including GT4 imo. Its so close for so much less. and if you find one that has x73 suspension (also known as SPASM) instead of the standard adjustable PASMs, it solves the soft suspension issue for the most part. A lot fo car for what you pay for and a proper toy
Think misha should work with porsche or other manufacturers with a nurbering edition explaing what set-up would be best etcetc!!! Nice driving as usual misha....
Bro that was an awesome lap that Porsche is really awesome it was actually really cool to watch this video with the sound of the tires screeching just you driving the p*** out of that thing was awesome
Another belting vid Misha! Absolutely awesome cars... but i am biased.... KW coilovers, Wavetrac LSD, stiffer rear arb, intake/exhaust and good sundries along with a COBB unit to remap the engine and PDK (raises rev limit and uplifts the power by circa 40hp, more noticeable in the mid range than anywhere else) have made for such a great and well rounded package. Agreed on the brakes, you can fit 911 calipers which use thicker discs for a cost effective upgrade and Girodisc also do larger disc kits with spacers. ua-cam.com/video/_f4U-SAlImY/v-deo.html
Really nice car and I definitely liked the "seriously used" looks. Much more interesting than the polished paint jobs this kind of cars usually have. With improved suspension it will be great!
I've never seen one of Misha's passengers enjoy a lap quite like this guy did. Probably one of the most enjoyable laps for me as a viewer as well. Thank you Misha.
I love how Misha takes a middle of the road supercar, and shows that it can compete against cars twice the price. Obviously his knowledge of the track is the deciding factor, but have having a pro show you what is capable with whatever car you have is inspiring.
Misha let your passenger enjoy the moment after a lap. I know it’s an everyday thing for you but it’s an experience for everyone else. you stop their excitement early and give your feedback on the car too early. Let them enjoy for a while before giving your feedback. 10:28 you can see he wanted to enjoy the moment but you just go into feedback straight away -_-
By the reaction of the owner to your driving, I would say suspension and brakes are good enough for him. A little bit of understeer makes it safer for him.
I have a 981 S and can confirm, they have very soft suspension, for everyday driving it feels sporty but as soon as you lean on it you really feel the softness
Same, I've had a bunch of passengers say "oh wow the suspension is really firm" but after living with one, it really isn't 😄 My Lexus GS rolled less in corners (in sport+ mode). For daily driving I wouldn't want firming damping, but less roll would be nice. I guess this is why people fit the X73 kit.
@@travis3810 I'm assuming the one in the video doesn't have X73 based on Misha's comments. I've only driven mine on the standard S suspension and a PASM one (which I actually liked less) but never X73- I've heard great things though, for track use I feel like it must do magical things with that fitted.
I've got PASM on my 981 Boxster S. Can confirm it's pretty meh. It's a nice compromise for the road, but it's definitely not my favorite part about the car. It's probably a good thing he didn't have cup 2s on the car, it'd completely overwhelm the suspension. All that said, this generation of boxster/cayman is magical. There were 2 suspensions available on 981 GTS, PASM and X73 option which is stiffer and not adjustable. I assume this car has PASM. Also, when placed in sport or sport plus modes, PASM firms and the oil is routes through an additional cooler. Unfortunately, it appears it was in normal mode and not sport for this lap.
